Indian Railways is one of the world's largest railway networks comprising 115,000 km(71,000 mi) of track length over a route of 67,312 km (41,826 mi). That means, if the tracks of Indian railways were to be laid out, they would circle the earth almost 1.5 times . In terms of track length, India ranks 3rd after USA and China. With a running time of 80 hours and 15 minutes and about 55 scheduled stops, the Vivek Express covers the longest train route in India. It joins Dibrugarh in Assam, North-East India to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu which is the southernmost tip of Mainland India. It covers a total of 4286 km from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari. These trains were started to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, to be held in 2013. India is a land of diversities. This diversity is also visible in the spheres of religion. The major religions of India are Hinduism (majority religion), Islam (largest minority religion), Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism and the Bahá'í Faith. India is a land where people of different religions and cultures live in harmony. This harmony is seen in the celebration of festivals. The message of love and brotherhood is expressed by all the religions and cultures of India. Whether it's the gathering of the faithful, bowing in prayer in the courtyard of a mosque, or the gathering of lamps that light up houses at Diwali, the good cheer of Christmas or the brotherhood of Baisakhi, the religions of India are celebrations of shared emotion that bring people together. People from the different religions and cultures of India, unite in a common chord of brotherhood and amity in this fascinating and diverse land. We are proud that we are Indian and above any religion, Indian first. Welcome to our India. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat. What a beautiful line by Amitabh Bachhan "Because you are women, people will force their thinking on you, their boundaries on you. They will tell you how to dress, how to behave, who you can meet and where you can go. Don't live in the shadows of people's judgement. Make your own choices in the light of your own wisdom." Yes, It is a holy blessing to be born with the exquisite qualities of a daughter of God. Women of God, both old and young, are spiritual and sensitive, tender and gentle. They have a kind, nurturing nature. This is your inheritance. Never belittle the gifts God has given to you. Develop the divinity that is within you. Green India - Green India Mission. The Green India Mission, aimed at ‚Äúprotecting, restoring and enhancing India‚Äôs diminishing forest cover and responding to climate change‚ÄĚ, is grossly underfunded, according to a Parliamentary committee report. ‚ÄúThe scheme is proposed for 10 years with an outlay of¬†Rs¬†60,000 crore.¬†During 2017-18,¬†Rs¬†47.8 crore has been allocated for¬†the scheme which is grossly insufficient as the committed liability for 2015-16 and 2016-17 is Rs 89.53 crore which is much more than the budget allocated,‚ÄĚ says the report titled The objective of the mission is to increase green cover to the extent of 5 million hectares (mha) and improve quality of existing green cover on another 5 mha, improve eco-system services like carbon sequestration, hydrological services and biodiversity and provisioning services like fuel, fodder, and timber and non-timber forest produces (NTFPs). It also has to increase forest-based livelihood income for about 3 million households. Hoping it will be in line soon. @abhraneel_photography Image selection and text orchestration by @yesindia#yesindia#indian#india#incredibleindia#picoftheday#beauty#beautiful#canon#nikon#photographers#photography#perfect#style#instagood#instashots#clickoftheday#didyouknow#facts#morningmotivation#motivation#love#meme#tourist#comedy#fashion#art#green#forest

Do you know that we can light the life of a blind person by donating our eyes after our death? In India, we have an estimated 4.6 million people with corneal blindness that is curable through corneal transplantation made possible by eye donation. More than 90% of the corneal transplantation is carried out successfully and helps restore vision in people with corneal blindness. Corneal transplantation in infants born with cloudy cornea can make a big difference to their lives. Anyone from the age of one. There is no age-limit for donating the eye. All one needs to do is bequeath his or her eyes by taking a simple pledge to donate the eyes after death. While taking a pledge during ones lifetime itself is a noble deed, it requires the support of the relatives or friends to carry out the wishes of eye donation of the deceased. People using spectacles and those diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension can donate their eyes. 1.2K 9
In India, If you are a animal lover or not, there are some rules put forward by the Constitution of India in favour of the voiceless and those who are working towards the welfare of these animals. The Delhi High Court states that there are no laws that prohibit people from feeding stray animals. In fact, feeding strays is both lawful and helpful since it makes it easy to confine them to one particular area that they belong to. It is a criminal offense to feed poisonous food to stray animals. A person who is caught doing so can be charged under Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960, which extends to the whole of India, except Jammu and Kashmir. It is illegal to maim or cause any injury to any animal. Sections 428 and 429 of the Indian Penal Code and the Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960 make it illegal to maim or cause injury to any animal. The Animal Welfare Board of India issues IDs for people who feed stray animals. These IDs help people who want to protect the strays from abusive animal-haters. Please be the voice of these voiceless animals. 2K 45
Meet out wild friend, the "Himalayan tahr" which is a relative of the wild goat and is specially adapted to life on the rugged mountain slopes of the Himalayas sitting on the stone edge in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. It has a dense, reddish to dark brown woolly coat with a thick undercoat, keeping it warm in the winter. In the spring, as temperatures rise, it loses much of its coat, and becomes lighter in colour. The hooves are also well adapted, making tahr excellent climbers with flexible, rubbery cores allowing them to grip smooth rocks, and hard, sharp keratin rims enabling them to lodge their hooves into small footholds Lets know a little about the Sanctuary also in which he is living. The Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary famously known as the "Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary " or "Kedarnath Vanya Jeev Prabha"  is spread over Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand. It was named after the famous Hindu temple of Kedarnath which lies outside the northern border of the sanctuary. This wildlife sanctuary in Uttarakhand is also the largest protected area in the western Himalayas. Moreover, the sanctuary also offers astonishing views of valleys, glaciers, forests, grasslands, butterflies, and a plethora of flowers. The sanctuary has a number of Hindu temples located within its vicinity, along with Kedarnath Temple, Mandani, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath, Ansuya Devi and Rudranath are some important Hindu shrines that are visited in wildlife reserve’s precincts. Spices and aromatics are the very heart of Indian cooking. They have been used since ancient times. They were mentioned in the ancient Hindu scriptures called the Vedas, ancient Egyptian papyruses and the Old Testament. Although it was not until the Roman conquests that western counties discovered their culinary possibilities, spices have always been believed to have healing and magical qualities. They have been used to cast spells, as incense in religious rites, to embalm corpses, to add aroma to perfumes and as aphrodisiacs. The word spice comes from Latinspecies, meaning a commodity of value and distinction. During their long and fascinating history, spices have often been more valuable than gold or precious stones, and the trade of spices has been an extraordinarily influential factor in history.  Many researchers have attempted to explain why hot spices are pleasant to taste. It seems the burning sensation is the pain of nerve endings on the tongue. This releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, giving rise to pleasurable and even euphoric sensations. Indian spices spices offer significant health benefits and contribute towards an individual's healthy life. They add flavor and nutrients to dishes without fat or calories! According to studies, An afternoon nap can boost happiness as well as improve behaviour and academic performance of children. Children who napped three or more times per week benefit from a 7.6 per cent increase in academic performance. Many lab studies across all ages have demonstrated that naps can show the same magnitude of improvement as a full night of sleep on discrete cognitive tasks Not only kids... even the adults too... its an age old practice in india to have a nap in the afternoon but the updation of culture and work diminished this habit.
