Quick business trip to Columbus! I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked exploring the city but I was able to soak up the beautiful weather and walk up and down the Short North. I’m not sure if it was the weather, but this street was buzzing on a Wednesday evening. #columbus#ohio#shortnorth#shortnorthartsdistrict#travel#mytinyatlas#instatravel

Today was one of those rare days that I decided to venture out to the French quarter. I don’t think that I’ve ever walked down this part of Royal Street before but it was lovely after that heavy rainfall. Sometimes I forget that I live in such a beautiful city. #spoiled#home#neworleans#nola#frenchquarter#mytinyatlas#weekendvibes

On our Istanbul layover (almost 2 years ago now 😮) we saw the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia before deciding to get lost in the Grand Bazaar. After purchasing a beautiful lantern we found this nook with a cafe and decided to hang out with this hookah for a few hours. The ambiance was perfect and still one of my favorite spots to just soak in our surroundings #layover#istanbul#turkey#grandbazaar#hookah#shisha#travel#instatravel#gowander#instapassport#mytinyatlas#tea#peoplewatching#vibrant#memories#nostalgia#backpackerlife#longtermtravel

Sorry for the instagram hiatus. I’ve lived in one of the coolest cities in the world since April and I haven’t shared any pictures! So here are some cheery holiday pictures from Canal Street in New Orleans, my home. A throwback to the journey. The journey of hundreds of kilometers where the path was unknown. Just three women and an adventurous spirit trying to get from Karakol, Kyrgyzstan to Almaty, Kazakhstan. We could have gone the easy route which would have taken us back through Bishkek, but we opted instead for a remote border crossing in the middle of nowhere. We took a bus to the town of Tyup where we waited over 3 hours for the only bus going in the direction we needed to go. When it finally arrived, we jammed in with all 6 of our backpacks and quickly made friends with the locals. Two hours later the bus driver stopped and pointed out into the vast expanse “Americans, 5 kilometers”. On foot now we walked for over 30 minutes down a dirt road as clouds were closing in. A kind couple in a large SUV kindly stopped and acknowledged our request to hitchhike to the border crossing into Kazakhstan. From there they were nice enough to take us all the way to the next town, another 30 minutes away. The driver even bargained for a taxi for us all the way to Almaty. Little did we know that this trip would turn into a huge extortion attempt but with no intention of bending or giving in to fear, we eventually got the driver to take us where we needed to go. In total, the journey was 14 hours over the road less traveled, through the beautiful mountain landscapes of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. #kyrgyzstan#kazakhstan#marshrutka#bus#travelday#offthebeatenpath#theroadlesstraveled#travel#passionpassport#adventure#wearetravelgirls#girlswhotravel#mytinyatlas#instapassport#instatravel#traveltheworld#doyoutravel#goexplore#fearless#patience#persistence#hitchhiking#journey#wanderingsoul#wanderlust#backpacking#backpackers

This restaurant doesn’t have a wine list, but a huge wine cellar where you can pick whatever bottle you want to pair with your meal.
