UCLH (@uclh) — UCLH, in the heart of London, is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and provides first-class acute and specialist services in five hospitals.
Last week we were delighted to welcome Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London and Victoria Atkins, minister for crime, safeguarding and vulnerability, to The Lighthouse. It’s a new UCLH-led service offering a full range of support services, all under one roof, for children and young people in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington, who have experienced sexual abuse. This service means they don’t have to keep re-telling their traumatic story. We’re working in partnership with The Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust, the NSPCC and the Metropolitan Police Service, commissioned for a two-year pilot by NHS England and the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). #uclh#nspcc#tavistockandportman#MayorofLondon#homeoffice
Our chief executive Marcel Levi (who is also a doctor at UCLH) vaccinated 16 colleagues this morning including Tamara Vega from our emergency department. She said, “He was awesome – I didn’t feel a thing!” Had your #flujab yet? If not, Marcel will be at the NHNN on Friday too. #nhsflufighter@nhsenglandldn
Congratulations to the Joint Research Office (JRO) team who are the winners of the October #uclhEHRS noticeboard competition! Superusers are creating some fantastic-looking noticeboards to share information about our new EHRS with colleagues across our hospitals. The JRO team pipped some stiff competition notably from HASU, AMU, Paediatrics, and the Short Stay Ward at Westmoreland Street! #uclhstaff#teamwork#sharingknowledge

We are delighted to hear that our very own Amanda Tata has been honoured with one of the #PrimeMinister's#PointsOfLight awards. Read her story: I am honoured to receive this award and do so proudly in the knowledge that I am part of the volunteer complementary therapist corps of the University College London Hospital NHS Trust. I have a strong commitment to bringing the benefits of touch, including reflexology and related massage therapy, to a hospital environment and I am delighted for this to be recognised. I have been able to see at first-hand how effective and potent massage can be in supporting patients through an often stressful and/or lonely period in hospital. Their families and friends also appreciate that the health and well-being needs of their loved ones are being considered from a holistic point of view. My next goal is to develop massage provision to the clinical staff, as this will both boost their wellbeing and offer potentially significant enhancement to the clinical environment.
