In 2005 we moved back to Atlanta and picked up a dog from an adoption shelter. We named him after Johnny Cash. For the last 13 years he has seen us in joy and in pain and has been our best friend through it all. Today we said goodbye to Cash-a really good dog and a part of the family.
Today we visited the orphanage Mac spent his first 2 years in. One thing was very evident and moving to me. He is loved deeply by the folks here. This woman is my new favorite person. She is his “Grandmother” who took him at night. She along with others cried as we said our goodbyes(as did I). Far maybe from what I’d expect to find and way more than I knew to pray for: Today it’s crystal clear-He’s been cared for all along. We are the lucky ones that get to care for him now.
In 1996 my life changed. I met this amazing woman. Early on we determined that adventure was a high priority. Over the last 15 years, we’ve had countless trips together. We thrive when we adventure. This weekend marks another turn. Monday we will pick up our new little boy. But right now I celebrate all we’ve experienced up until this point. Oh the adventure hasn’t stopped. We’ve only just begun.
Little known fact about me: I love a good surprise. Tonight our young life community threw us a surprise shower. They showered us with good gifts and kind words and blessing. We are humbled how God chose to encourage us this day! Thank you @eastatlantayl you out done yourself!
This pic is from YL’s Malibu Club in British Columbia. We were up there with good friends two weeks ago. Just so happens a buddy of ours wrote a song about it. Please go find Andrew Osenga’s Beautiful Places and give it a listen. It’s powerful for me considering our little guy who is coming soon and my travel buddy, @stepearnest who have been to so many beautiful places. New blog post up. It’s a little bit of a progress report. link in bio. Love y’all!
