Castillo San Felipe del Morro as viewed while sailing around Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. Its construction was ordered in 1539 by King Charles V of Spain under the direction of conquistador Diego Ramos de Orozco. Construction took many decades and it was not until 1587 that the final design was created by Juan de Tajada and Juan Bautista Antonelli. This fort repelled many attacks including an attack by Francis Drake who lost most of his ships in the process. #sanjuan#puertorico#tropicalisland#lovetheocean#goexplore#wonderfulplaces#roamtheplanet#wanderlust#adventureseeker
