The Frieze #LosAngeles is now over. This edition was superbly organised and celebrities showed up at #Paramountstudios. Everyone got a selfie with #BradPitt, ah not me or you 😋⠀ ⠀ But more seriously, the few big galleries that were there showed secured #artmarket values - big names such as #traceyemin#alexkatz#ursfisher#andywarhol#anishkapoor#johngerrard#jackpierson#gajinfujita#jennyholzer#waynethiebaud#joshsmith#philipguston and many more. ⠀ ⠀ Lots of satellite events, where people invited a few friends to visit their home or to hike in the desert. To be noted that nothing is too big or too bling-bling for the US market and small #Hollywood houses.⠀ ⠀ And to answer this artwork here "it is a world in which something is missing" I would say yes that world miss of originality! What's your comment?⠀ ⠀ #friezelosangeles#friezela#thota#thehouseoftheartists via @sanda.laicena

Part of the group show @largeglassgallery, #MarkWallinger, familiar to the Londoners, you most probably bumped into one of those labyrinths in the tube. There is one in each station.⠀ ⠀ "In the Labyrinth" group show until 5 April 2019.⠀ Labyrinth, Mark Wallinger⠀ Hatton Cross (station)⠀ 267 / 270⠀ ⠀ Mark Wallinger created a major new artwork for London Underground to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2013. The result, commissioned by Art on the Underground, is a multi-part work on a huge scale that is installed in every one of the Tube’s 270 stations. Wallinger sees the commission as a unique opportunity to explore the potential of the Underground as a whole. Wishing to forge a poetic link with the Tube’s rich history of graphic language, he has made a work that sits comfortably alongside the two of its major design icons, the roundel and Harry Beck’s Tube map, and yet stands out as a new symbol marking the Tube’s 150th year.⠀ ⠀ About the artist⠀ Mark Wallinger is a British artist, best known for his sculpture for the empty fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, Ecce Homo, and State Britain, a recreation at Tate Britain of Brian Haw's protest display outside parliament. He won the Turner Prize in 2007.⠀ ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ ⠀ #britishartist#mindmap#artontheunderground#publicart#maze#labyrinth#artcouncilengland#thota#thehouseoftheartists#LargeGlassGallery#inthelabyrinth#thefourthplinth#turnerprizewinner

It must be Victor Vasarely moment. He got a retrospective show @centrepompidou plus was seen in @artgeneva and @zonamaco! VASARELY Le partage des formes 6 Feb 2019 - 6 May 2019 About the artist Victor Vasarely, was a Hungarian-French artist, who is widely accepted as a "grandfather" and leader of the Op art movement. His work entitled Zebra, created in the 1930s, is considered by some to be one of the earliest examples of Op art. Optical art movement (Op art) is a style of visual art that uses optical illusions. Op art works are abstract, with many better known pieces created in black and white. Typically, they give the viewer the impression of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns, or of swelling or warping. #frenchartist#victorvasarely#arte#collectors#70s#artgeneva#happycolors#artlovers#geneva#opticalillusion#trompeloeil#patterns#expovasarely#centrepompidou#artgeneva#zonamaco#thota#thehouseoftheartists#VictorVasarely via @gladys_pinedo

Talking about a real #artrevolution? Here we go: Everything is art! The photo is from @sfmoma but there are multiple copies in all major museums. An idea developed later, to the full by #AndyWharol. But also, what a life lesson to all artists who are aspiring to become recognised. Duchamp began with cubism painting. And after a harsh critic of the "Nude Descending a Staircase", No. 2 (1912) @philamuseum; he decided to shift his artistic career. About the artist Henri-Robert-Marcel Duchamp was a French-American painter, sculptor, chess player, and writer whose work is associated with Cubism, Dada, and conceptual art. He was careful about his use of the term Dada and was not directly associated with Dada groups. Duchamp is commonly regarded, along with #PabloPicasso and #HenriMatisse, as one of the three artists who helped to define the revolutionary developments in the plastic arts in the opening decades of the 20th century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture. image via @sasinsamtasintom . . . #rmutt1917#twentiethcenturyart#modernart#everythingisart#ben#jesuisart#readymade#conceptualart#thota

In 2008, I was there @Sothebys. The atmosphere during an auction evening is indescriptible. I remember the feeling of having the auctioneer @ob1london giving me a deep look while saying “this is your bid”. On that evening, Damian Hirst, the first artist to bypass his galleries and to sell directly through an auction house, registered a record sale of £111 million. Life is full of high and low, the next day Lehman Brothers closed down and the financial crisis started. Tate Modern during the Olympic Games In September 2012, I went to the Tate retrospective about Damian Hirst. I was immediately drawn by this particular artwork with flies feeding on a cow’s head. And, I had the very bad idea to sniff through the vitrine. Yes, live death stinks. I liked the moist and warm room where real exotic butterflies were farmed to produce the future paintings. How ephemeral life is, not only for the future element of a painting but also for the viewer. And in the #turbinehall, there was a separate black box, which looked from above like the Mecca. This special room contained the 2007 most expensive artwork on earth “For The Love of God”. . . . #athousandyears#damianhirst#tatemodern#flies#cowhead#shark#cigarettebuts#ThePhysicalImpossibilityofDeathintheMindofSomeoneLiving#formol#butterfliespainting#Kaleidoscope#spashpainting#artislove#fortheloveofgod#thebusinessofdeath#ephemeral#daminanhirst

About the artwork: This time, I've chosen 'The Tomb Of The Unknown Craftsman', by Grayson Perry, British Museum, 2012. Because that boat is phenomenal and too many artists are forgotten. The picture does not render truly how big and the quality of the craft. This is a memorial to all the anonymous craftsmen that over the centuries have fashioned the man-made wonders of the world, some of which are on display at the British Museum. About the artist: 2013 Turner prize winner and Royal Academician, Grayson Perry is a person worth meeting for his bubbly and cross-dressing personality. I choose for this day5, Barnett Newman ‘Adam’ 1951, 1952 via @Tate Britain About the artwork From the mid-1940s Newman had been preoccupied with the Jewish myths of Creation. The vertical strips in his paintings may relate to certain traditions that present God and man as a single beam of light. The name Adam, which in the Old Testament was given to the first man, derives from the Hebrew word adamah (earth), but is also close to adom, (red) and dam (blood). The relationship between brown and red in this painting may therefore symbolise man's intimacy with the earth. About the artist Barnett Newman was an American artist. He is seen as one of the major figures in abstract expressionism and one of the foremost of the color field painters. His paintings are existential in tone and content, explicitly composed with the intention of communicating a sense of locality, presence, and contingency. In 2016, the Royal Academy organised a major "Abstract Expressionism" exhibition. I was really looking forward to viewing this artwork in the flesh but the experience ended being very disappointing due to constant interruption by people passing through my focal point. . . . #barnettnewman#abstractexpressionism#royalacademy#adam#biblicalreference#postwar#americanartist#tatebritain#tatecollection#thota#redbrown#admaeve#myth

About the artwork: #BramBogart "La vie du visible" 1991 (the life of visible) painted relief, 105 x 80.5 cm. (41.3 x 31.7 in.) It was recently in an auction on #artnet. I always wanted to have this one. So if you know the #artcollector who can sell it to me. Thanks for the referral. Bram Bogart was a Dutch painter best known for his involvement in the Art Informel and CoBrA movements. His paintings are characterized by their heavy impasto applications of colour in patterns or loose shapes on thick wooden panels, resulting in palpable and tactile textures. Bogart created his unique surfaces using a mixture of oil, pigment, mortar, chalk, and siccatives—additives to help the thick paint dry more evenly and quickly. Born Abraham van den Boogart on July 12, 1921 in Delft, the Netherlands, he went on to live in Paris, later settling in Belgium where he became a citizen in 1969. He notably represented Belgium in the 1971 Venice Biennale, and his work can be found in the collections of the Centraal Museum in Utrecht and the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst in Ghent, among others. Bogart died on May 2, 2012 in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. . . . #dutchpainter#dutchbelgian#artinformel#cobramovement#3dpainting#pigment#texturepainting#stedelijkmuseumvooractuelekunst#artistsinBelgium#belgianartist#mixmedia#redblue#revolutionfrancaise
