Last night, my baby, aged 6 months and 6 days ate her first bit of real food🥦🥑🥒 I’m excited that she has reached yet another milestone but can’t help but feel a little sad. Everyone said that it would go fast and I believed them, but did not think this fast. How is my baby girl already 6 months old and eating broccoli and avocado?! BREASTFEEDING STORY ↓ . Breastfeeding was not easy for me in the beginning. Lakey had fluid on her lungs at birth, she wasn’t really interested (nor did she have the energy) to feed for the first few days. Her tiny mouth could not latch on (my breasts were so big they were about to burst with milk). I would express and then she would suckle the milk off my pinky finger. . . So we tried this amazing little thing called a nipple shield. I had never heard of this before and so grateful to the nurse that told me about it. It helped Lakey to latch. The negative to it was that it felt awkward when feeding her in public and also I had to remember to take it with me every where we went, and god help me if I forgot it🤦🏼♀️ Once Lakey became stronger at latching I slowly weaned her off the shield. Eventually (she was about a month old) we successfully began feeding without the shield. . If you have trouble breastfeeding in the beginning, don’t loose hope! I know it can be stressful, I know first hand how frustrating, upsetting and disheartening it can all get, try what you can and be patient with yourself. It is as much a learning process for you as it is for your babe. . In the end just do what is right for you and your little one ✧
Babies show signs to let you know they are tired and need a sleep, JUST like they show you signs they need to eliminate. Your baby might grunt, squirm or cry when they are ready to eliminate (or they may do something else). Your job is to learn your babes body language, read these signals and help them to eliminate💩

Sometimes for me the week can get so routine, and one thing after another but having a little treat I can grab makes a huge difference for this gal 🤗 ************************************************************************************************************ 1/4 cup butter or apple sauce at room temp, 1/3 cup coconut sugar , 1 large egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract , 1 1/2 cups almond flour, 2 tbs coconut flour , 1/4 tsp salt , 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp cream of tartar Cinnamon sugar topping: 2tbsp cinnamon sugar, 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
FULL TIME // PART TIME Some people do EC straight up full time (hats off to you) whilst others adopt a more gradual approach doing it part time combining EC with cloth nappies. Whatever works I say! Sometimes when babes go through developmental milestones they can put the breaks on EC - ‘Potty Pausing’ is quite common when there is something else going on such as learning to crawl/walk etc. and in these times you may want to use your nappies for a week or two. Some part time ECers go nappy free during the day and put a nappy on their babe at night. When starting out with EC, it’s perfectly fine to use your nappies in situations where you are easily distracted and may miss your baby’s signs or where you won’t be able to allow your bub to eliminate in an acceptable place. The less you use the nappies is obviously better, but of course it’s fine to use them in times of need! . At the moment we are taking it slow, making it a smooth transition for Lakey, myself and of course her dad😂. Nappies at night time (with the intention to soon let them go), nappies on hard days like today (when she just isn’t feeling herself and we spend the day cuddling and her sleeping in my arms), nappies when we go into town (because it’s a 45 minute drive there and I’m just not ready to deal with that sh*t yet- no pun intended). My 6month old daughter is already so intrigued by animals and her love for them shows when her eyes light up the moment an animal comes in her line of sight. So I didn’t want to post anything about my new journey until I saw the results were legit so here ya go 😁😁😁😁 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉 Two weeks ago I joined @coachcamcamfit and her team to achieve a healthier version of myself. I was hesitant and skeptical bc I’m not for “hyped up products” but I communicated with coach ongoing for a few months before making my decision, did research, and watched the results of others before I made up my mind. Since then I’ve lost 5.6 lbs and I’m enjoying the results 😁👍🏾 I replace 1-2 of my meals daily with my shake mix+protein and keep up my regular eating habits, exercise, and sleep🤷🏽♂️ that’s it. Teaching my kids about gut health this morning with a probiotic lesson! Basically me dancing to -#kungfoofighting and showing them that bad bacteria can cause their colds and cavities and then probiotics come along and hiiiii-ya knock em dead!! Lol 👶It takes 40 weeks to grow a baby. 🎓It takes 8 semesters to get a bachelors degree. 👊21 days to break a habit and reform a new one. 🏋️♂️It takes 8 weeks of consistent work to see a change in your fitness. 💯90 days for a cell to regenerate and 6 weeks to 6 months for the gut to rebalance I encourage everyone who wants to start probiotics the pink drink ( probiotics) and combos to stay with it for a minimum of 90 days. The reason is above ☝🏼 - it takes 90 days for cells to regenerate. That’s bottom line. But up to 6 months for the gut to rebalance. So this is why often you will have a dry nappy after your little one has had a sleep and why they will most likely need to pee once they wake up!

It’s how we do things around here ... With some fun and cuddles in between of course ♡ . . DAY 2 - So for now we are using a nappy for night time sleeps as mum will be off in dreamland and not awake to observe the cues. Today Lakey woke up with a dry nappy (that means she didn’t pee/poop from 7:30pm- 6am😳10.5 hours!) I fed her and then took her nappy off and held her over the potty.... VICTORY 🥳 . . Since then it has all gone down hill and I’ve missed 2 big wees 🙈

It’s all about balance right?🤦🏼♀️ . . This is how our day went... Potty 6 - Floor/Mum 4 I think we went well for our first day! Lakey’s signs were mainly cries and squirms. Got peed on once- I felt a warm trickle on my lap and just had to smile and and make the ‘pssssss’ noise. I messaged my partner and told him “I caught my first poop!” Somehow I don’t think he was as excited as I was 😂 . ⇊ Helpful tip: Take a diary of your day. Note down feed & sleep times, pee & poop times and any signs you observe. You should start to see a pattern. I will do this for the first week.
Today marks the first day of our Elimination Communication journey☝🏼💩 For those of you that have not heard about EC - it is a lifestyle that encourages natural toilet learning (which has many benefits). To put it simply, it is watching for your babies cues for when they need to pee or poop, often resulting in nappy free baby before they turn one. Since our dependency on diapers has increased we’ve lost touch with this basic need, and often a quick trip to the potty or change of a diaper in the middle of the night will result in a longer, uninterrupted sleep. Remember babies and toddlers only have tiny bladders so they can only hold a tiny amount, the need to pee will often wake them up and then a wet diaper will often keep them awake now matter how dry the diaper companies claim them to be, I mean I wouldn’t like to be made to lay in my own pee, would you?? My daughter was super sensitive to being wet and often a quick change at 4 or 5am and a bit of boob meant another few hours of sleep for everyone! Also something that a lot of people don’t realise is that for breastfed babies, they wake up to feed to keep their mothers milk supply up then wake up a couple of hours when they need to pee it out, what goes in must come out!!! Morning! #Paleo Oatmeal is a fave of mine 🖤🌱 ************************************************************************************************************ Overnight oats are all the rage and let me tell ya, they for sure rage somewhere else too 💩🚽 So instead I use @wildwayoflife cinnamon hot cereal, with @co_yo_usa plain yogurt, mixed berries and local clover honey(clover honey is #sibo friendly and works for me). I live for easy, quick and on the go type of food and these fit the bill. Legit so easy to make with only 3 ingredients I had to add and they are amazingly delicious! I keep mine in the fridge and grab one right before I leave 😍 ************************************************************************************************************ Just an added bonus, the ingredients are packed with foods the bod NEEDS. It has organic cocoa powder which has all the lovely flavonoids ( help with inflammation) and it’s full of iron, magnesium and zinc! Organic brazil nut powder packing in the selenium! Organic flaxseed meal which is good for the heart and your poops 💩PTL! Organic shredded coconut loading up more fiber and protein, plus its yummy! . 🌿Happy Wellness Wednesday!🌿 Gut health! This is the nitty gritty of what plexus is all about! Why is gut health so important, you might ask? Here are some quick stats that might surprise you: -70-80% of your immune system is in your digestive tract! -Our serotonin (happy hormone) and our melatonin (relaxation hormone) are mainly made in the gut. So that means if your gut ain’t happy...your brain probably won’t be either. -Our nutrients are absorbed in the gut! This means that all that healthy food you’re eating...it can’t do you much good if your gut is unhealthy. It’s all about absorption! -Our stress hormone cortisol....yep! It's made in the gut too. -Your body can hold up to 20lbs of 💩💩That's a LOT of hazardous waste up inside of you😳...... -Your body is like a car wash. If three meals go in....three meals should come out daily....if ya catch my drift -If you aren't eliminating through your bowels your body will eliminate toxins through your skin. Yup! Gross! Moral of the story....if your gut is unhealthy, the whole body follows suit. But how does our gut get so unhealthy? Check out the graphic below! This chart shows many of the symptoms that can be tied to a yeast overgrowth issue in your gut. Crazy, right?!? Everyone has yeast overgrowth to some degree (YES Y'ALL DO). So let's talk yeast for a minute. Yes, yeast. Your body was created with a small amount of yeast inside your gut. The problem is, yeast-- feeds off of sugar (it feeds off of many other things as well)... and since most people love sugar, guess what happens in our bodies?? The more sugar we take in the more the yeast can grow and spread out of control. Picture this: you're in the kitchen making homemade bread; you mix the yeast with the warm water, and instead of adding 1 tablespoon of sugar you add 2 cups. Yep, you now have yeast... everywhere! Now imagine that happening inside of your body. It grows out of control... and when it grows inside of your intestines, it turns into fungus and it starts to wreak havoc on your entire body. This yeast issue can cause all kinds of health issues and is often what is making us feel horrible and tired all the time.
