Whether the technique is inefficient, or excellent, depends on the athlete doing thousands of reps over the course of a training cycle. And finding pleasure, in eating with purpose! 👊🏼 ➖➖➖ Threw together this simple small meal the other day (wish you could have smelt/tasted it! Ugh) ! 🤩 I love just tossing multiple nutrient rich foods together in one bowl, mixing them together and enjoying ALLLLL the goodness! Bowls like this are EASY AF to put together so “I can’t cook” or “I don’t have time” ain’t an excuse. 😉 1️⃣ Select a BASE (ie. Rice, Quinoa, Leafy Greens etc.) ⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Select a PROTEIN (ie. Farm Raised Poutry, Grass-fed Beef, Legumes etc.) ⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Add EXTRA nutrients. (Fermented Foods, Healthy Fats, Fresh Veg etc.) ⠀⠀ ✅✅✅ ⠀⠀ In My Bowl 💁🏼‍♀️ ⠀⠀ BASE: ▪️ Cabbage = great prebiotic ▪️ Leeks = similar to onions but more mild. Although science has demonstrated that a proper calorie deficit and journaling your food intake is the most sustainable and effective approach for fat loss, you can still run into some tracking errors. About 70 percent of our clients use mainstream apps like Myfitnesspal. It’s important when you scan food labels to look over the listing of macros. You will often times find some pretty large discrepancies. If you keep an eye out, you will find some in your daily tracking here and there. We once had a client who would eat a bag of candy on her high carb days (common practice). We noticed some serious spikes up in her weight post big carb day. Upon further analysis of her food journal, we discovered that the 21 grams of carbs in the bag were actually closer to 100grams. For anyone who has tracked macros, you know this discrepancy can make a huge difference. Watch for those errors and stay vigilant. It only gets easier as you practice tracking. Side note: this was from a Walmart brand bag of munchies. Twas’ delicious by the way. Getting shocked 85 times a second all while working out is actually my kinda thing 🏋🏼‍♂️😎 I had the opportunity to try EMS training (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) at @bodypulsestudio this evening. It was all that I could ever imagine, the most insane 20 minute workout my body's ever experienced. . What interesting about this training method is that it helps you recruit 95% of your muscle fiber when you are doing that session and I would say that we only normally use between 40-60% of our muscle potential. . Which makes me think, how much stronger could we be if actually used all our muscle fibers? 🤔 . Ps. Have the bar over your mid foot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Grip the bar tight with both hands just outside your legs. Point your elbows backwards to engage your lats. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧐 Why do this? You’ll keep a neutral spine and stop the shoulders from rolling forward, which arches the upper back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Push your hips backwards to straighten the lower back and engage your hamstrings and glutes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4️⃣ Keep a tight grip on the bar, sink your hips slightly, put your weight into your heels, and allow the bar to roll toward your shins. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧐 Why do this? It relieves slack from the bar. When you stand, everything moves in unison. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5️⃣ Everything should now be locked into place. Your fitness goals were so close... 😔 . You were doing great for a while, but then you weren’t. Your muscles were growing, but then they stopped. You were losing body fat, and now not so much 😓 . I understand. I’ve fretted over complicated solutions before. I would have an issue like my back hurting, muscle cramps after training, or weird pains here and there, then I would seek a complicated solution 🙅🏼‍♂️ . This usually ended up with me ignoring basic things and making my problem last a lot longer than it should have. I sure wish I had someone to tell me to just relax and FOCUS on the BASICS . If any of this sounds like you or sparked a memory, then you got to read this! I’m going to give you a checklist with questions that I so badly wish I had . If you’re having training frustrations, the FIRST thing you gotta do is take a big step back, ask yourself a some questions, and do some personal detective work within your own routine and body 🕵🏻‍♂️ . Success in training is all about RELENTLESS application of the BASICS. Before you look for a more complex solution to your problems, honestly ask yourself these questions and REFLECT🧘‍♂️ . -Do I have a clear vision of my goal? -Do I have realistic expectations? -Am I utilizing the big, uncomfortable, result-producing exercises or ignoring them? -Am I training consistently? -Am I getting better at my exercises by adding more weight regularly? -Am I actually following a program through or am I guilty of jumping program to program? -Am I keeping track of my progress with pics, journaling, measurements, tracking, etc? -Am I tracking my nutrition and eating enough calories for my goals? -Is my nutrition good? Am I lacking any nutrients, vitamins, or minerals? -Am I getting enough rest? (maybe that pickup basketball game is killing my gains) -Am I getting enough quality sleep? -Am I managing my stress effectively and avoiding unnecessary stress? . I’m sure a lot of you have heard this stuff before. But this is stuff you should be asking yourself if your training is stalling 🤔 . It doesn’t matter if your trying to build muscle, lose fat, be a pro climber, or a yoga master. You must be consistently nailing the basics down! . .
