This is good for things such as nerve entrapments, carpal tunnel syndrome & thoracic outlet syndrome I like to do 6-8 reps and then gauge how it makes me feel afterwards. Please note! What a rollercoaster. On Friday I walked 2 miles crying with pain and texting everyone I know saying I was never running again. I am a bit of a drama queen. Couple of days off and fast forward to tonight, long day in work but got out and did 10k with some bits I even slightly enjoyed. During his assessment, I noticed problems with his posture. His shoulders were protracted, his chest muscles were tight and his lats are imbalanced. After a sports massage, some MET stretches and a few rehab exercises, we noticed a huge difference in how he stood! “Don’t let your knees collapse in!” You’ve heard it before, and I say it as a cue during rehab. Reality is that it is going to happen during practice or a game. It’s called dynamic valgus. Can it lead to injury?, sometimes. Can you avoid it completely, not likely. So what to do about it?! 🤷‍♂️. —— Train for it!!! 🏋️‍♀️ Make sure your body is capable of handling that stress. Make sure you can recover from that position. How do you do that? It’s a whole combination of things. Hip strength, knee strength, ankle strength. Balance, stability, proprioception. Reactive training, plyometrics and the list goes on. —— If you aren’t working on these things, you should be. The physical demand of sports is only met by intentional off court performance programming. INJURIES SUCK, OR NOT....An old snowboarding injury has reappeared, meaning I've had to lay off the weight training recently, which at times has been very frustrating. The feeling of regression sets in, but then I remind myself to listen to my body and focus on rehab and mobility work. It has been a real blessing in disguise, as I feel much more flexible and energised than before. It's been an important reminder that health and fitness isn't just about what you can lift or how fast you can run, bike etc, but also your overall wellbeing and longevity. I've been working on range of motion and core strength (mostly yoga), rehabilitation (banded neck exercises, foam roller, chiropractor) and cv (bike, run, row). Feeling all the better for it :)

That risk management strategy sure didn’t work as planned. The good news is that I should be able to run again by Thursday according to the Fysio.
