I think this race had every type of terrain, rope climbs, boulders, LOTS of snow and SO MUCH VERT. The 8 miles of glissading down ski slopes alone dodging the people on actual skis was so much fun, but such a workout. I'm taking Bambi legs to a whole new level with DOMS today. But SO MUCH FUN. Amazing views and an awesome experience! ___ I knew if I couldnt grind through 32 miles and 11k feet of vert I will never make it 103 miles with 20k in 50 days but honestly I wanted to take a DNF after the 1st lap. No part of me wanted to go back up those mountains a 2nd time. At the halfway point, I hurt. It took alot to acknowledge that the hurt is really just disguised strength. There is a different kind of strength hidden within hurt and exhaustion. That strength exists within every step of an ultra marathon. The strength required to acknowledge the uncomfortable, the painful, the weak moments, the strong moments, the highs, the lows, and continue forward. You learn to be bigger than self doubt and negativity. You have to believe in yourself. Nobody but you put in those miles. When you reach that finish line, those people who told you, you couldnt, they weren't there. The people who swore they'd always be with and for you, but left you right before? Not them either. Your demons were once created, and they can be equally destroyed. Do it for yourself, you are the only one who can look after your dreams and goals. You're the only one who will make them a reality. Don't count on other people to be there. I crossed this finish line knowing not a single face in the crowd around me. At first it was disappointing, but I realized it didn't matter. Because nobody but myself would truly be able to experience the same feeling I was at that moment. I tried out the sneak peek workout from the program beachbody is releasing next month, it’s legit! The green and blue on my heart rate screen indicate my easy pace for running 😂 This was definitely harder than an easy run?! 😅💦 Alsoooo, I ran 45 minutes pain free Saturday, did a workout yesterday and today, and went back to the chiro still pain free! He said I’m healing very well, but I’m not totally in the clear. When I left the house this evening, I held a leash in this hand. There was a dog attached to it. Where is this dog, you ask? She got picked up. She needed a ride home. She couldn’t handle a run tonight, she was lagging behind before 1 mile!! Now listen, I am not a fast runner. I was hanging out at around a 9.5 min/mile pace. And we are talking about an active dog. The sun must have got her good today! You know, my black dog, she usually hides in the shade...it was pretty pathetic that she was slowing me down. I practically dragged her to 1.5 miles and then we walked a bit. Then I coaxed her to “run” another half mile, and then we walked again to meet the rest of my family at the ice cream shop. I’ve never been a morning person. I’ve never been athletic or enjoyed working out. I’ve never been a runner. I’ve never had enough belief or confidence in myself to actually try something new...mostly because I was so scared of what everyone would say or think if I failed or fell short, including myself. . Until now. 🙌 . For the first time in my LIFE I had FOMO after seeing alllll of you runners compete in Grandma’s this past weekend. I may only be halfway to my 10k goal, but I’ve already got my eye on my next goal. You see, for every excuse I had to NOT complete my long run yesterday, I found a REASON to do it anyways...even in the rain. 🙌 And guess what? My kids are asking to join me on their bikes now ❤️ . Do I always love getting up an hour earlier than I need to? Nope 👎 Do I always enjoy the workout or the run? Definitely not 👎, but music makes it better 🥰 Do I love the way I feel when I’m done, with the energy I need to live this crazy life I’ve been given? Abso-freaking-lutely. 👏 Does it have to be ALL or nothing? No way! I love that I can incorporate NEW 20-30 minute workouts on the days I’m not running 🙌 . Ladies, mamas, I hear you. You’re BUSY. One week into training and I’ve already fallen off the wagon! — Instead of getting up when the early morning running alarms went off over the weekend, I choose to snooze them and Netflix in bed instead 😅😂🤣...I am happy to report that I don’t regret the decision 🤷🏽‍♀️ — I’m working on getting back in the groove of things, but also know I’m still in really good condition to be taking it easy considering I’m only a a month removed from my last race! — This week calls for easy paced miles with a couple speed workouts sprinkled in. Happy #medalmonday to everyone who raced this past weekend 🙌🏻. I wish I had had a better day because this was absolutely the most BEAUTIFUL race I have run in these past four years. You see...my run #anniversary is in a couple weeks and this was my reward to myself. 😊 I trained minimally, and just did what I had to to finish, but I would go back in a second 🙏🏻. It was flat and fast and the perfect size race for me. I have taken 24 minutes off my PR these past nine months and it wasn’t in me on Saturday to push. As soon as it got hard I was just DONE. It’s been a crazy couple years for me in every aspect of my life and on this day I chose not to try harder or force something that just wasn’t meant to be. I just gave into it and stopped and breathed. I will always remember this day for the time with my girl, the beautiful location, the lovely people, the encouragement we gave each other as we struggled out there, and the knowing that tomorrow is a new day. A new beginning. Another race day. Another chance we get to do this. ❤️ #keepshowingup

We breathe and deepen our trust. It’s a time we truly see ourselves and fall in love with life. It’s a cleanse, a meditation and a therapy session all at once. The first two miles were tough trying to breathe through the humidity at a 9:45ish pace. Took a break, and my legs felt like kicking it in high gear for mile three and I wound up finishing it in 7:30. The fourth mile was a cool down so I didn’t die in the heat. Want to know what's NEW in Monic-land? 🥁 🥁 🥁 I finally listed my condo for sale! (I've been talking about it for over a year.) 🆕️ ⛺ ✅ Getting it ready for photos and the open house was A LOT of work. That's all I did last week!! Seriously. 🏳🚩🏳🚩 I somehow manage to be a Minimalist and a Hoarder at the same time?!! 🚫 So it was TONS of organizing, tossing, donating, stressing, cleaning, crying and trying to be patient with Diego as he made new messes. (God Bless all you parents. I cannot imagine.) ▫️▫️▫️ This year for the first time ever - important life situations have gotten in the way of running [getting a puppy! - freezing my eggs!! & now selling my home]. ▫️▫️▫️ It's also gotten in the way of Run Eat Repeat. That's stressful because RER is my job and you're my running buddies. I want to be a good (and fun) resource for ya! 🎈 ▫️▫️▫️ I've been working on a Half Marathon Training Plan for a while and really want to share it ASAP. I think it's going to be super helpful and awesome!! 👟👟 ▫️▫️▫️ And I have a few other projects in the works that I want to get out to you! ▫️▫️▫️ I'm excited to share these things!! You are the strongest chick I know, I made a vow I would stay strong for you and your sister always. The doctors said, “If you can not take care of yourself, how will you ever take care of them?” This is my friendly reminder each year that you both always deserve an incredible mother, not one that makes excuses, complains, or doesn’t follow God. 🚨 Long post ahead 🚨 Reflecting on yesterday, I could not be happier with my performance at the Vancouver #ScotiaHalf. I started this year with an ambitious goal of 12 halfs in 12 months, just hoping to beat my time from 4 years ago (1:38:02). After ticking that box in race 1, I set a new goal of beating my time from 10 years ago, when I was 25 and my metabolism was a bit more forgiving (1:29:10). Now even this is within reach! I was super nervous about Vancouver. I was coming off a hamstring injury I wasn't confident had fully healed; I trained in kms for the first time which screwed with my head more than I'd like to admit; & traveling for races always adds a level of stress, even in Canada. But with 4 halfs this year under my belt, I went in with a plan and stuck to it. On my hand I wrote the km pace from my most recent 30's PB (4:29) and then the pace range to hit anywhere within 1:33:00 (4:24 to 4:27). All I had to do was stay inside those bounds. The idea was to prevent going too fast too soon, which worked. I was still feeling strong at the 12km mark, kicked it into high gear, & avoided hitting a wall where I usually do near the 17km mark. In the end it all paid off, and I dropped a whopping 2 minutes & 18 seconds off my previous time finishing in 1:32:21! Better than I expected or even planned for. I am beyond proud. I will say this was hands down the most organized race I have ever competed in - from check-in, to gear check, to aid stations, & volunteers. Every single aspect was executed so well. I believe this contributed greatly to my performance. With water/Nuun stations every 2-3km, I don't think I've ever been more hydrated. And Vancouver really turns out the spectators! I was literally smiling the entire time. Even the police officers were clapping and cheering (in other cities they just looked bored)! Thank you so much to all the race organizers & volunteers. What a special day. An enormous thank you to my friends & family for cheering me on from afar. I felt your love the entire weekend. Special thanks goes out to my husband @allisterx for his incredible patience & @samwrhyan for keeping me grounded. Run towards gratitude 🦊🧡🦊

Streak day 245. I would’ve liked to run enough to hit 400 miles for the year, but my legs and feet protested the entire way. I tried intervals. Didn’t work. I’ve just done too much running and not enough recovering, these last two days. I’m incredibly disappointed but I know I’ll hit 400 miles tomorrow.
