Rome, the “eternal city”, is so called because it is a place of great beauty, contrast and life. Rome is an ecletic city: the religious world centre of Catholic Church, the fabulous ruins of the centre of the Roman Empire, and modern, bustling Rome. All three seem incongruous, yet they live inside and beside each other with great ease. You will soon realise Rome was build to rule and dominate the world. Everything is on a massive scale, solid and “eternal”. . . #rome#colosseum#wheninrome#travelaroundtheworld#photography#travelholic#photooftheday#ig_rome#ig_italy#romeitaly#italy_vacations#romecityworld#ig_travelerworld#europe_pics#photogrid#italy_hidden_gems#italy_creative_pictures#followus#focuson#discoverrome#explorecity#neverstop#ilovetravelling#letyourspiritfree#enderive

#villaadrianativoli#romecityworld#romadavedere#romadascoprire#ancientrome#igersroma

❁ ʀᴏᴍᴇ-ɪɴɢ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ᴛɪʙᴇʀ ❁ The Tiber hadn't been called like this until it took its name after Tiberinus, a king who drowned in the river. Before that, the river was originally called Albulula because it was so white!

A few of my favorite things to have during the summer, cherries, prosciutto, figs, brie and crackers. Also it’s what my picnic lunch at Villa Pamphili consisted of. Now that the sunny weather is back with full force, all the in season fruits at the farmers market are so fresh and ripe, I can’t get enough ! 🤤 #otherstories#livewithpurpose

A thousand roads lead men forever to Rome. There is so much to see in the Eternal City--the history so vast, the traffic so crazy, the food so enticing--that it's tempting to do what's easy and stay in a well-trod neighborhood steps from the Forum or the Trevi Fountain ... and legions of tourists. But then you'd be missing the flavor of Rome, with all its messiness, beauty, and surprise. For a more authentic experience, plunk down in one of Rome's less-frequented neighborhoods and savor the local culture, and then venture out from there. - MONA GABLE, "Two Must-Visit Tourist-Free Neighborhoods in Rome", Vogue, August 10, 2017 and ALAINE DE LILLE, Liber Parabolarum #romeitaly🇮🇹#romecityworld#travelrome#discoverrome#beautifulrome#italia🇮🇹#romephotography#rometravel#romeandyou#visitrome#detailsofrome#italytrip#italy_illife#italytour#italy_ig#italylovers#exploreitaly#ıtaly#theitalybest#italyfood#italyvacation#italian_places#italianlife#italiandays#italian_city#italiana#italian_trips

This is a rare Mosaic of Biological Diversity to Find in Rome. Monte Mario, with its 139 meters of height, is the highest hill in a range of hills called Monti della Farnesina and represents for its environmental features a real mosaic of biological diversity which is today rare to find in Rome. The soil is formed by sand and gravel of ancient origins, from which the geological history of the area where the town was built can be easily retraced. While the lowest areas are characterized by a typically Mediterranean vegetation (Holm oak, Cork oak, and Cistus), the areas at higher altitudes are characterized by submountain species (Hornbeam, Lime tree, Maple, Manna ash, Hazelnut trees, Privet bush, and Cornel tree). The human settlement has disturbed the presence of the original wildlife: nowadays, there are rodents (dormouse, house mouse, and field mouse) and birds (Robins, Blackbird, Long-tailed Tit, Green Finch, Goldfinch, Jackdaw, and Starling). This area represents a priceless cultural and environmental heritage for the town, including historical villas like Villa Mazzanti, where RomaNatura has its Head Office, and Villa Mellini, housing the famous Astronomical Observatory. #romeitaly🇮🇹#romecityworld#travelrome#discoverrome#beautifulrome#italia🇮🇹#romephotography#rometravel#romeandyou#visitrome#detailsofrome#italytrip#italy_illife#italytour#italy_ig#italylovers#exploreitaly#ıtaly#theitalybest#italyfood#italyvacation#italian_places#italianlife#italiandays#italian_city#italiana#italian_trips

Saint' Ignazio di Loyla church is not so wellknown for tourists, but many locals think it is most beautiful. This is the church we admired in the mornings in 9 Hotel Cesar's breakfast terrace. Construction work started 1626. After reformation church wasn't so rich (or they didn't want to show their richness...). Anyway talented Andrea Pozzo painted perspectiveillusion to ceiling, it looked like dome, but it doesn't really exist. End of 1600 they decorate the church inside and it has many startling trompe l'oeil-frescos. Did you know that almost all piazzas in Rome has a church? Churches are free to visit, it is almost impossible to avoid visiting churches in Rome 😁! Cant't stop wondering this amazing talent already so early times! 🙏☀👍😯 #saintignaziodiloyola#saintignazio#rome#roma#Romecityworld#romeitaly#visitrome#visitroma#ilikeitaly#unlimitedrome#igersroma#ig_roma#ig_rome#volgoroma

Monte Mario is the highest (139 m) hill in Rome, Italy. It lies around the northwest side of the city of Rome. The hill was known as Mons Vaticanus or Clivus Cinnae during the ancient Roman period. The current name, according to some theories, comes from Mario Mellini, a cardinal who owned a villa and several hamlets around the hill in the 15th century. However, the hill was known as Monte Malo ("Bad Mountain") in the Middle Ages due to the murder here of patrician Giovanni Crescenzio (998), whence, it is presumed, the modern name. The eastern part of the hill is a nature reserve, and on the west side lies the now upmarket district of the same name. Atop one hill is the church and convent of Santa Maria Rosario. On the hilltop, now occupying the site of the 15th century Villa Mellini, is the Monte Mario Observatory, part of the Rome Observatory, and the Museo Astronomico Copernicano. This location (12°27'8.4"E ) was used as the prime meridian (rather than Greenwich) for maps of Italy until the 1960s. The side of the hill was the former site of the Villa Pigneto built by Pietro da Cortona. The ruins of the structure were razed in the 19th century. The John Felice Rome Center, one of the four campuses of Loyola University Chicago, is located on the hill on Via Massimi.Although it is the highest hill in the modern city of Rome, Monte Mario is not one of the proverbial Seven Hills of Rome, being outside the boundaries of the ancient city #romeitaly🇮🇹#romecityworld#travelrome#discoverrome#beautifulrome#italia🇮🇹#romephotography#rometravel#romeandyou#visitrome#detailsofrome#italytrip#italy_illife#italytour#italy_ig#italylovers#exploreitaly#ıtaly#theitalybest#italyfood#italyvacation#italian_places#italianlife#italiandays#italian_city#italiana#italian_trips#beautifulrome#loveitaly#romeisbeautiful

Fermarsi, guardare da altre prospettive. Non ridursi alla prima sfumatura di grigio. Roma è bella di fronte, di lato, da sopra a sotto. e viceversa.
