Most people who know me know that knitting is my sanity, my therapy as I push through my #PhD#dissertation. But for months I’ve had to cut back because typing has caused RSI to my wrists. But I need a creative outlet or I’ll go crazy(er)! So I’ve taught myself to spin. And @vanawillemiel inspired me to chain ply! It’s magic and I’m hooked. Beautifully soft Corriedale from @jarbontextiles was the perfect fibre to learn with. Making fills my soul. 💙 #spinnersofinstagram#fibre#fibrelove#wool#sheep#handspun#johnarbontextiles#corridale#sheep#lifelonglearner#coping#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalhealth#woollylove#yarn#ravelry#spinning#spinningwheel#ashfordspinningwheel#maker#create#creative

Just a reminder of this months @withtoysinmind theme. - ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ - #WithToysInMind MONTHLY THEME ANNOUNCEMENT #WTIM_ThisIsMe - Hello everyone!! Hope you all had good weeks and your Mondays aren't too stressful. May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the U.S. So, I thought that I might set something a bit more challenging this month with the theme; "This Is Me". For this theme I would love for everyone to say a little something about themselves. - It could be an experience you've been through, an emotion that drives you, or even your entire life story, all I ask is that you be honest. I realise this won't come easy to everyone, as we often use social media as a filter so that people don't see the sides of ourselves we'd rather keep private, and that's absolutely fine, I don't expect everyone to bare their souls or even take part. But I'd really love it you did. Over this next month I'll be focusing my own photography (@tinyepicphotos) on this subject and doing lots of posts around my experiences with mental health, and life in general. - As always I'm around if anyone has any queries or questions. - #breakthestigma#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalhealthrecovery#MentalHealthMatters#mentalillness#bewell#selfcare#mentalhealth#toyphotography#spiderman#marvelfan

#mentalhealth#mentalhealthawarenessmonth Simplifying mental illness in a single word opens up world of guilt and shame for those suffering from it. Let this Mental Health Month serve as an opportunity to educate ourselves what these words mean that have trickled down into our daily language. Before we call someone 'crazy', 'OCD', or using mental illness conditions as adjectives, take a step back and think of the devastating impact it can have. Mental health matters, and so does the language we use with regards to it. Spiritual self-care is any ritual or practice that we do to deepen the connection with our higher self. It allows us to experience a connection to a higher power and experience meaning in our lives. Spiritual self-care in shorter terms is connecting to whatever you consider meaningful for your emotional well-being. There are many different ways to explore and nurture the spiritual side of us. I’ve listed several spiritual self-care ideas you can incorporate in your current routines or if you’re beginning your self-care journey. 〰️ Tag a friend and share what other spiritual self-care regimens you practice. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth I think one of my favorite things are waking up and having my coffee while I do my devotional and read a chapter in whatever self help book I'm reading. Having positive mental health is a proactive choice. Every day, I chose to fill my mind with a way to grow and support my mental health and hope in Christ. Why this book? It's been almost two years you might think. Life after a suicide loss doesn't end. This is the life I live now, for the rest of my life. Each day I fill my survival arsenal with tools that help me cope, find peace, heal and live a life with joy beyond mourning. It's not easy! But I can share what I've learned. Find comfort and peace in the arms of Christ. In the worst experiences of your life, you are given a choice to see how truly good God is. Trust him. Fill your mind with words of positive encouragement, lessons of self reflection and growth opportunities. Through it all be honest. Surviving grief and struggles in mental health is messy. Acknowledge all of it. Feel all of it. Then use your tools to move forward WITH it. #youmatter#suicideprevention#PhoenixRising#bethevoice#lifeaftersuicide#realconvo

#mentalhealthawarenessmonth I’ve been struggling with my mental health for quite sometime now, of course keeping it extremely quiet and never speaking too much about it. God forbid somebody find out how bad I’ve been struggling and actually want to offer help to me.... pshhhh. I’ve opened up to my closest friends and family about the severity of my negative thoughts and they’ve been nothing but supportive, like I knew they would be. Why was I so afraid to tell them how I feel? It’s perfectly okay to not be okay. It’s okay to not even know why the fuck you feel so sad. I took this photo at a park with my sister a few weeks back. I love everything about it.

#gingertoddler rocking out in his 'jamas... It's hard af raising a child because you're never sure if you're doing it right. Particularly when your own family background is, shall we say, less than idyllic, and you're determined to provide a much better life for the little one you chose to create. I've had an uphill struggle with both my head and my (surprisingly weak) body since about two weeks after conception. I've been depressed, anxious, irritable, nauseous, crippled with pelvic pain, terrified, stressed, and scared of losing my identity. But I'm learning to embrace the good moments when they happen. Five minutes after this performance he had a full-on meltdown because he objected to wearing a t-shirt. 🙈 #mentalhealthawareness#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#maternalmentalhealth#gottoddlered#gingerbaby#gingertoddler

Yesterday was also the anniversary of the loss of another great frontman. • @chriscornellofficial died on May 18, 2017. • “For me, I always had one foot in this very dark, lonely, isolated world. Then about eight years ago [he was 42 at the time of this interview] I got very dark and there was a ton of isolation. I had to do a lot of things I didn’t want to do. Like I had to admit that I made all the mistakes I assumed I would never make. I changed pretty much everything you can change. The city that I lived in, every person that I spent time with. I got a divorce, but then fell in love in a way that I didn’t know I was capable of, and then felt loved in a way I didn’t know I was capable of. I quit drinking, quit smoking. And suddenly I had all this energy." • Even when you think they’ve conquered the world and their own demons, continue to check in. • 📷: @justinborucki#musicheals#chriscornell#mentalhealthawarenessmonth

ABCs of Self-Care Day 19: “
Oh, like you didn’t see this one coming... 💁🏻‍♀️😉💕 • ABCs of Self-Care Day 19: “Sweat” • Today, your self-care challenge is to sweat it out. This is about exercise, people. Effortful and intentional physical movement. And making it count. Which means, it should feel like you pushed yourself. Planned exercise (which is the type you set aside time for and commit to) on a regular basis has been shown to provide the most benefit for your mental health. It’s the important message you send to yourself when you take the time to care for your body (and mind). In my experience, exertion counts too. So, like, the harder you push, the greater the benefit and the more accomplished you feel... and literally, nothing feels better than that. • This isn’t about achieving your weight goals, this isn’t even about achieving your fitness goals... this is really about the effort and purpose behind everything you do. Move your body, push your body, feel it respond to your effort, notice yourself getting stronger everyday, even on days you don’t feel so strong. Nothing like a good sweat sesh to boost your mood and sense of self-worth. In other words, you’re a badass. Now, go get it 💪🏽💪🏽 • #selfcareisaskill#selfcarebasics#selfcareexpert#selfcarerx#selfcarehacks#secretsofselfcare#psychology#may#mentalfitness#mentalhealth#mentalhealthawareness#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalwellness#30daymentalwellnesschallenge#selfcare#radicalselfcare#psychologicalselfcare#30dayselfcarechallenge#whodoesntloveachallenge#abcsofselfcare#day19#sweat#sweatitout#youreabadass#loveyoself#selfcareisntselfish ❤️

Mental health awareness week day 7: Reflection. . This morning, I took a trip to the cemetery - to visit the grave of my friend that succumbed to mental health in 2006. I hadn’t been back for 12 years approximately. As I and many others suffer from mental health problems - it was important to have a reality check. . I often feel guilty or reflect on what I’ve had in my life that he missed out on. Graduation, marriage, children, buying a house etc - all things his candle burnt out too quickly to realise and fulfil. I guess I want to finish this weeks posts by saying, whilst an awareness week is great - mental health is constant. . In a life full of opportunities and choices - just choose to be kind. Check on those close to you - and remember - the sun will always rise tomorrow. . #endoftheweek#bekind#💚#toughtimes#selfdoubt#mentalhealth#mentalhealthawareness#mentalillness#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalhealthrecovery#recovery#ukrunchat#running#runchat#runner#ukrunning#cemetery#itsokaynottobeokay#anxiety#quotestoliveby

Mental illnesses are strange things.. . You know that girl who always seems happy? She could be silently battling internal sadness. The girl who always seems positive? She could be struggling with demons. The girl who keeps her cool amidst the stressors of life? She could be boiling inside, about to explode. The girl who seems “healthy” because she eats clean? She could be secretly obsessing about every little thing she consumes. The girl who loves to run because it “makes her feel good?” She could have an extremely unhealthy relationship with exercise to the point where she’s overcome with anxiety if she doesn’t. The girl who wakes up at 5 AM because she’s an “early bird?” She could be waking up incessantly through the night and extremely early because her hormones are completely messed up. The girl who “likes to go to sleep early?” She’s actually exhausted all the time because her blood count is depleted from malnutrition. The girl who’s heart rate is below what’s considered “normal” but validates it because she’s a “runner?” In actuality, her heart rate has slowed to an unhealthy point to conserve energy. The girl who’s period has stopped? Yeah, that’s not normal of a women of childbearing age. . There is so much that overlaps in people with mental illnesses. [Mine was #anxiety and #anorexia because I’m a #perfectionist] . I point out these “excuses” because I, too, made them. While I’ve been silently struggling for years, I tried to rationalize my symptoms; I made excuses to justify why what I was doing to my mind and body was okay. . Mental illnesses may manifest themselves in sneaky ways. . On behalf of #mentalhealthawarenessmonth , I want you to feel empowered to speak up if you think you or a friend may be struggling. . There is NO stigma attached to #mentalillness ✋🏻 Please feel like YOU have the right to speak up and seek health, because you DO. There is absolutely no need to be suffering alone; there are resources out there, and life is so much better when you’re not fighting the battle alone. . Sometimes those who are struggling just need someone to ask how they are. @neda and @projectheal and @sheppardpratthealthsystem are resources I’ve found 💛

since it’s mental health awareness month i wanted to take a minute to talk about
since it’s mental health awareness month i wanted to take a minute to talk about one of the biggest issues in our society today. mental health in young people has increased by 37% in less than a year. obviously everyone has their bad days but depression isn’t just feeling low, it’s feeling so low 24/7 that you have completely lost interest in the things you used to love. you know there are people around you who love and care for you but your mind has completely taken over and you can’t help but but think you’re alone. anxiety isn’t just feeling nervous for a big exam. OCD isn’t about always needing things to be neat, and so on. there are so many men, women and children each day struggling in silence. i myself have struggled with my mental health for over 3 years. but the best advice i ever took was admitting to yourself that you’re not okay. that you need help. it’s okay not to be okay and struggling in silence is the worst thing you can possibly do to yourself. NO ONE, no matter who they are, what they look like, what religion they follow, their race, their age. NO ONE should EVER suffer alone. it’s okay not to be okay and speaking out is the first step to recovery. i’m not saying i’m the happiest person in the world. i still have my bad days just like everyone else but i am slowly but surely becoming the happy, proud, enthusiast girl i used to be. not everyone shares their story. you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. a smile can hide so much..be kind. it’s nice to be nice. and it’s okay not to be okay.💛💛💛#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#itsokaynottobeokay

There is never an amount of words that can ever possibly describe what this band means to me, and what their music has done for me. “Bully” was what started it all for me; going through childhood & adolescent years being constantly tormented, made fun of & harassed, then going into my young adult years & being mentally and emotionally abused; Bully was the first song I had a connection with. The lyrics & sound of Brent’s voice singing this words of “make another joke while they hang another rope, so lonely” just resonated with me and lit this fire within. Then, I heard Diamond Eyes; and it ignited that fire, ten fold, and gave me hope; it gave me reason to keep pushing on and say it does get better. Fast forward now seven years after my first show, with songs like Unity, Get Up, Ill Follow You Down, and countless, countless others; I am beyond thankful I’m still here to get to see these 4 men in person, and sing along to those very songs that pulled me from that very dark place I was in. Next month, I get to physically thank them for what they, and their music, has done for me, when my best friend & I finally get to meet our heroes. 🖤💛 #shinedown#shinedownnation#attentionattention#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalhealthawareness#stopthestigma#mmrbq#mmrbq2019#brentsmith#zachmyers#barrykerch#ericbass#thankyou#yousavedmylife

I suffer from mild to moderate agoraphobia which can make a normal day-to-day life almost impossible for me. Each day, I take a few steps forward, and then sometimes a few steps back, but overall I have come along way from my lowest lows. Yesterday I took a huge step forward as we were on our way to a dress up birthday party we were attending (big step forward) and we stopped at the grocery store to get supplies. I went in by myself (HUGE step forward). I was anxious, but generally doing well... until I came out of the shops. A trio of drunk bogans pointed at me in my best ‘op shop ugliness’ for the event and asked if $200 would be enough to hire me for the night, whilst simultaneously mocking me on what I was wearing. I got in the car, had a cry, thought about how now I’ll be even more anxious going to the shops and how I didn’t want to go to this party anymore. Then I stopped and I remembered all my steps forward and refused to let this set me back. Remember your words can have a huge effect on someone’s day, so please be kind. #positivethinking#chinup#mentalhealthawareness#overcominganxiety#overcomingagoraphobia#agoraphobia#mentalhealthblogger#anxietyrecovery#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#kindness#beyourself#stepsforward#blogger#blogpolar#bipolar#strongwomen

I realized when I first met and saw the other competitors dance a month ago that I was going to have a slim chance of actually winning the dance competition. These new friends were talented and seemed to know what they were doing on the dance floor. But I knew with my amazing group of friends and family that I would win the fundraising raising. I was honored to receive the Isaac award last night for raising the most money for @horsehavenoften 🏆 last night was one of the best nights of my life. it kind of felt like the icing on the cake as far as things going on in my life right now. I’ve never been happier, clear minded, confident, and felt more loved then this current moment in my life. it’s amazing what a change of environment, having a purpose, making small and big changes, staying positive, rolling with the punches and having the support of amazing friends and family can do for ones life. it’s crazy to think that not even two years ago I was in the darkest time of my life. I honestly was in so much pain everyday for 3 years. everyday I struggled with deep depression and had to fight off hundreds of suicidal ideations. I knew it wasn’t right but I couldn’t help but think those thoughts. my life had fallen apart, again. and the doctors had me on 20+ pills a day because they didn’t know what was going on with my brain. until one day I realized, I had to make a change, and I had to change everything. so I stopped all the medications they were giving me, even against their advice. “You’re going to be on all these different medications for the rest of your life”, “you’ll always be this way”, “you will die if you stop taking them” “you have one of the worst cases we’ve seen” etc.. So I listened to my own heart and decided to change it all and I had to leave New Hampshire and my family once again. I had no other choice. I was in so much pain that I had to do something or else I would not make it. I wanted to kill myself every single day, even though I knew it was wrong. I just knew this couldn’t be right. I knew the doctors were wrong and I knew what type of life God wanted me to live. I just couldn’t figure it out. Well, last night I realized... I finally did.

This needs to be shared everywhere, plastered on billboards, taught at school and studied. I had zero information about my condition before I was diagnosed. I truly felt I was going crazy and would be locked up because that’s they way we are taught to think. If I had known what was happening,I may have went to get help quicker. We need to stop the stigma behind different mental health disorders and learn about them instead of being unable to understand what others are going through unless you have experienced it for yourself. We badly need better mental health education. 💚

I caught this screen shot on one of my workout videos today. This right here describes my mental health lately.. I’ve felt defeated, broken, worn down. I’ve been struggling finding my “purpose”. I’ve asked God so many times in the past month “what’s all this for?” “What am I supposed to be doing?”. My dear friend @logankelseyy sent me what seems like a small gift but has opened up to be one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received. She sent me a book by @jordanleedooley called ‘own your everyday’. This book has brought me back to life, I feel as if I don’t have to rush life anymore. So just like this photo- I took a brief pause in life but I’m getting right back into it. I will finish this workout, I will finish that project, I will not quit on something that’s so important to me. Just PAUSE and see how clear things get.

He/She was so damn restless. If you looked away for a moment, they would be half way across the universe. You could tell they struggled, but anyone with eyes could tell that they were fidgeting their way to the top of the world - just wanting to be still.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The mind is restless and difficult to restrain, but is subdued by practice! Some of your thoughts may just be automatic conditioned reactions generated by a brain that is oriented to survival. Choose whether or not to believe these thoughts, rather than just accepting them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even for thoughts that could be true - If only 1 in 10 people will get the job you want, and you keep thinking about those odds, you may become demotivated and not even bother applying. This is an example of a thought that is true, but not helpfull! Focus your attention on what is helpful and let the rest go! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🌻 Share your Mental Health advice in the comments below.. 💭 Together we can help end the stigma! 🌻 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Follow us @growthroughclothing for more Positivity and Mental Health Awareness! ❤️ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ #positivementalhealth#mentalhealthcare#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalhealthmonth#positivemindpositivelife#selfworthquotes#loveyourmind#bekindtoyourmind#mentalhealthwarrior#mentalhealthawarness#mentalhealthsupport#mentalhealthadvocate#mentalhealthawarenessday#mentalhealthisimportant#mentalillnessawareness#mentalhealthweek#mentalhealthrecovery#restlessmind#mentalhealthmatters#mentalhealthawarenessweek#worldmentalhealthday#mentalhealthhelp#recoveryquotes#mentalillnessquotes#mentalillnessrecovery#livingwithmentalillness#mentalhealthblog#mentalhealthjourney#mentalhealthadvice#endthestigmaofmentalhealth

| M E N T A L ~ H E A L T H | Those of you might have seen my little story dedicated to this on Friday, which the majority failed to load unfortunately. But I have always wanted to speak openly about my struggles, and what can often be hiding behind a bubbly face and an outgoing facade for many people. As I have my regulars at the stall, with time we open up and so many people spoke to me on Friday about their own personal battles; alcoholism, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia. I know how tricky it is to open up and I just want to honour that braveness. One person told me that 'you always put a smile on my face and sometimes that's MY mental health first aid.' The fact I can be there and provide not only a scrumptious breakfast that brightens your morning and hopefully boost the soul, but an empathetic ear and a friendly face to others means so much to me. And is so much part of my Morridge ethos 🧡 Keeping talking, reading, learning and listening. Everybody goes through a mental struggle however small, and the more we can relate and understand, we can be there for one another x * * * #mentalwellbeing#mentalhealth#mentalhealthawareness#anxiety#anxietysupport#anxietysufferer#therapy#talkingtherapy#listen#foodmatters#foodforthesoul#foodforthought#foodforlife#talktome#lifejourney#mentalhealthawarenessmonth#mentalhealthweek#mentalhealthawarenessweek

Reposted from Binibini Bacolod City Cassandra Bermeo Chan (@cazzuchan): “No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart.” -Shanina Shaik. . Life has gotten superficial. We are in a day and age where looks are everything and values like kindness and compassion are put in the back seat. . Social media has made it a lot easier to bully and bring people down. Living in a predominately Catholic country, the stigma of mental health must be talked about even more. . The Philippines alone has the highest number of depressed people in Southeast Asia (NSO, 2018). These statistics don’t lie. I hope all of us can look inwardly and make the choice to be kind even when others are not. . And when push comes to shove, don’t hesitate to ask for help. I personally suggest calling local organizations like “The Natasha Goulbourn Foundation” @ngf_mindstrong when you need someone to talk to. . Our words have tremendous impact both offline and online. May we use them to lift people up. . . . Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! Thank you to my team! Posted @withrepost@girlrestore Hey y’all, I’m Johna. I struggle with chronic depression and anxiety (lyme and mold and all the things only add to it). For many, many years I battled body dysmorphia and multiple eating disorders. • You feel trapped inside your body. Your mind tells you there is no escape. You hide behind the mask of perfection. • For every 5 people reading this, 1 is living with a mental health condition. • It’s not made up. It’s not laziness. It’s not trendy. • Anything can be hiding behind a smile. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s any less important than other ailments. • Let’s talk about it. Let’s drop the shame. And let’s keep showing up. • Mental illness is a part of my story, but it doesn’t define who I am. I am not my diagnosis. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth#girlrestore

This week I shared with my fb community about my new job working as a Service Co
This week I shared with my fb community about my new job working as a Service Coordinator and I have had a ton of messages asking questions so I thought I would just share my heart of why I decided to make this transition. First of all, I am totally still using, loving and sharing my Young Living passion. If you want some oils, I would love to hook you up. It's been a huge part of my journey for the last 5 years. Secondly, I have been pretty open about my struggles with depression, but I don't think anyone could understand how deep it went. Being a stay at home mom is no joke, it is the hardest thing I have done 100%, and some people are amazing at it. I personally am not. I isolate, forget to shower, eat really bad, and completely forget to take care of myself. I had a wonderful friend, (yes you, Tara Caldwell) reach out to me and just offer the suggestion, during a really dark time in my life, that a part time job might help. A little light-bulb went off and reminded me how good I am at what I used to do. As a working mom I was so organized, disciplined, INTENTIONAL with my time, I didn't take it for granted and our family thrived. I applied at Coordinated Services of Idaho and was told they weren't hiring 😂😂. No biggie, I wasn't even sure I wanted to work! A month later I got a call, an interview and a job all in one day and everything changed. I absolutely love the environment where I am working. I feel supported, welcomed, and like I am a part of a great team. It's Part-time, flexible, I make my own schedule and I can even work from home! A total dream. I'm so thankful for the last 4 years that I have been home full-time with Jack! What a wonderful gift, but I am also excited for this new chapter and for what God has in store for us! <3 <3
