I saw a comment online that upset me. Not because it was directed towards me, but because of how it truly feeds eating disorder culture. Someone had said they were proud because they bought size __ jeans for the first time in a few years after losing weight. Someone commented “great job! That’s what happens when you don’t eat😍” And honestly.. I forget how uneducated some people are towards eating disorders, which is why I want to talk about this comment in particular. Restricting is NOT what leads to successful weight loss! Restricting leads to so many physical and mental health issues. Restricting can lead to organ failure and even death. It doesn’t matter if you’re over weight, under weight or a “healthy weight for your height& age. “ if you are restricting, no matter what your size, you.can.die. Restricting is an eating disorder behavior. Eating disorders are commonly linked with both depression and anxiety, and other mental health illnesses. You do not know what someone is going through. Please, do not praise someone for restricting!! It feeds the issue. It feeds eating disorder culture. Comments like those are part of a very large issue in our society today. That comment came from a grown adult. Adults are telling children today that it is okay to restrict. That restricting is how you lose weight. And THAT is not okay. There are healthy ways to lose weight if that is what you’d like to do. There is a way to take care of and love your body while working to change it. That is one of the many beauties of the human body! The human body is a canvas, a piece of art! Her friend was talking about the keto diet & bananas came up... out of nowhere and totally nonchalantly I was able to recite the fact that medium bananas typically have 140 calories... my sister in law asked how I knew that and it made me think for a second about the fact that I just knew that... that my life has been so consumed by numbers on a scale, calories on a package, numbers on a tag. I had a physical today and the doctor told me my weight... something I haven’t known in months and months.. something I’ve avoided knowing purposefully.. now I know, and shit... Being physically fit is not the end all be all and your mental health is just as important. Remember to drink a lot of water but also remember to take a deep breath. It is ok, it will be ok. Wednesday: This is the face of a gal in a pretty fitting room who was about to embark on a treat-yo-self/shop til ya drop afternoon. 🎁 . It’s my birthday week. Time to really live it up! For me that meant hitting Nordstrom to find comfy bras. Whoop whoop! Life is too short to suffer in underwires, straps that dig in or fall off, and pieces that make me feel yucky. . I picked up a couple of @trueandco’s True Body bras. It’s lightweight, buttery soft and has removable pads. It looks like a sports bra, but much more comfortable. I was also admiring @wearcommando’s Butter bralette and bodysuits. They are pricier, but maybe I will treat myself to one for Christmas. . I’ll report back about my experience with my new finds. In the meantime, ladies, I’m curious what you consider your most comfiest bra!

I had a panic attack while driving home after an especially difficult work day. I feel like the picture sums up my anxiety and depression over the year. We lost my Dad and both of our beloved dogs all in one year. I am finding the closer it gets to Halloween (day my Dad passed) the worse my emotions are. I know that's normal. Depression and Anxiety are very real and they prevent you from doing something most people don't even think about. For instance, getting gas after work today was something I was not able to do. Luckily, my wonderful husband met me at the gas station and pumped my gas and put air in my tires. Help is out there. Ive been loathe to speak publicly about my own issues with my brain due to stigma. Why I'm talking. I want my #children and all younger generations to enter a space where talking about mental health is as common and as accepted equally as one going to the dentist extracting a tooth. #noshame.

Panic and anxiety are one of the most uncomfortable and fear provoking feelings to experience. Things like practicing mindfulness, massage, talking and any physical activity enable the brain and body to ease up and slowly relax. @journey_to_wellness_ is on point! 🙌 (as usual) #Repost@journey_to_wellness_ ・・・ These are some of the symptoms of a panic attack. Everyone is different and may experience completely different combinations and degrees of these things, or not some of them at all. The important thing is to remember that while, of course, the experience is incredibly uncomfortable, it is not dangerous and it will pass. Often we end up with a 'fear of the fear', or a fear of the panic attack itself. When we take its power away by reminding ourselves that it is yucky but not dangerous, we are not going crazy, and we WILL get through it, we can help to lessen this fear. It takes time, compassion and bravery. Make sure you don't do it alone, talk to your family, your doctor, your friends, a counsellor. Sometimes it doesn’t unfold in the ways we are expecting, so perhaps leave room for the unexpected • I’ve had certain questions on my mind **a lot** lately and last Thursday I very consciously choose to **really let go** of them and maybe more importantly I chose to let go of the need for answers and the need for things to be different. I chose to focus on selfcare and prioritized wellness. Today I woke up so refreshed with both answers and awakenings. It’s almost like a download of sorts. • I strongly believe throwing an anchor towards the questions or the goal and then striking a balance among effort, trust, and patience— sometimes it doesn’t unfold in the ways we are expecting, so while effort and action is so very needed and critical, can we also leave room for the unexpected, for the natural unfolding of things.

I knew my journey in finding my purpose began with reconnecting to myself. However, I found it almost impossible to build myself back up while I had the daily reminders of normal life all around me. So I left. I used my miles and booked a trip to run far away from the shadows I was trying to leave behind. Some days I felt successful by distracting myself with newness and discovery. Other days, I woke up feeling like I both had been punched in my stomach and was struggling for air at the same time. I had to will myself to keep moving. I learned a lot about myself on those days, including the grit and determination that was inside of me. I repeated mantras to myself; willing my brain to repair from a loss. I broke the day down one step at a time and celebrated making it to breakfast and each step that came after. I felt I needed to find my footing alone, so I jumped straight into the deep end of solo travel. #travel#solotravel#adventure#heartbreak#findingmynorth#truenorth#motivation#mentalhealth#mindfulness#grit
