Our very first Representatives for Rescues are Sarah and her rescue pup Jane. - Sarah has been CrossFitting at @crossfit_350 for about 3 years, but her and her family have been advocates for adoption for a long time! - We met Sarah and her family at the very first Reps for Rescues competition at @lp_crossfit Sarah actually ended up winning the Women’s RX division! - Because the proceeds from the event were going towards helping Illinois Valley Animal Rescue, Sarah and her family decided to check out the pups that IVAR had available for adoption. Even though they already had two other rescues. (Waylon and Willie). That’s when they met Jane. Sarah fell in love, and they’ve been inseparable ever since! - These days Jane loves car rides, going for runs with her mom, and stealing her dads side of the bed at night! - Janes a very active pup and loves that her new family is always on the go, she always gets to see new places and meet new people! - We asked Sarah for her thoughts on pet adoption and here’s what she had to say; - “What I have experienced is that you don’t actually “save” dogs from a shelter-they save you. They are appreciative of their new homes & families & therefore almost force you to appreciate your life a little more. They love unconditionally and deserve a chance to be loved in return. Jane has filled a void I didn’t know I had. Her love for new experiences, to meet new people, and to go explore every chance she can is amazing. She’s my best friend & I’m thankful daily she chose me to be her Momma.”

It also stands for representatives. - Animals in shelters often get a bad reputation, and because they can’t speak up for themselves, and we’d like your help to speak up on their behalf. - Our new program will involve talking to our fellow CrossFitters about their rescue pets and potentially sharing their story in hopes of removing the negative stigma surrounding shelter animals, and encouraging others to adopt their next four legged family member. - If you are a CrossFitter with a rescue pup, or if you know a CrossFitter with a rescue pup, send us a message or tag them in this post! You gotta be willing to bleed. You've gotta be willing to hurt, cause we're all willing to go there! . Ive been getting asked recently how you know when you are ready to move up to the elite heat. I ran open for a whole year (before competitive wave was even a thing). I compared my times to the elite heat times, I consistently finished with a top ten time in the open (now you could run competitive instead of open to test yourself), and I knew that competing with the best was what I wanted to do. I would always check the female times as well (remember you have a 15 minute head start) because I did not want to be in their way on course. Once it was evident that I could actually be competitive in the elite heat that is when I moved up. One year of hard training is what it took me, but if you have a sport background then your move up could be quicker. Week 4 Day 1 The body and mind felt amazing! Started the day off with a 10 mile run in which my paces and splits were awesome! Felt like I was cruising 🔥 Listened to the @brute.strength podcast with @michaelcazayoux and @davidgoggins which got me amped up! Pushed my mind into a dark place and just got after it! Session two had me in the gym working on some snatch cycling and box squats and deadlifts! A lot of people and training protocols would most likely say I am crazy and did way too much but I’m not normal. I’m looking to push my mental and physical limits to learn about myself and the possibilities of where I can take my mind and body! The major risks factors that cause these are tobacco use, physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol, unhealthy diets and air pollution. Education is the key here but it’s incredible how some basic lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, eating more fresh fruit and vege and keeping moderation in other areas. Pretty easy right? Your habits today could be stealing time off your life, time your children get to have with their you and time your parents get to spend with you if you go an early grave. Its that real. Week 3 Day 7 Today ended up being pretty brutal to be honest but I felt very good by the end of the day. Started off with a burning metcon of 30 Front squats 115#—30 cal bike—30 S2OH—30 cal bike—30 Thrusters—30 cal bike 🤢 Then got in a nice bodyweight burner of 30-20-10 strict pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups and then 20-15-10 Bar Muscle Ups, Strict Dips, GHDSU!! Then had to get my run in for volume which was 5 miles. Paces/splits were better than I could have expected especially after the first gym session! Week 3 Day 5 I could definitely wilt feel it today!! Had to work up to a heavy set of 3 hang squat cleans + front squat (245#) and it got spicy! 🌶 legs felt a little heavy from the past few days of running but got the job done! Went on to working up to 6 reps of heavy back squats superset with 120 u broken double unders per set and then some bench press and muscle up work! I know my form needs some work but practice and struggle are what’s going to help as well as a positive mindset! Tomorrow is another fun day in the gym but with lighter cycling and metcon work as well as a nice run to get the miles in!! I’ve been offline for a while—had a conference in Chicago—but I’m back! These new habits are still pretty new for me, so it was overwhelming to work on continuing to eat well, work out, attend the conference, study for the classes I was missing, AND keep up with social media updates! We booked a small suite with a kitchenette and prepped a lot of food, so we were able to stick to homemade soup, chicken, salads, apples, and all kinds of other good food while traveling—and bonus—we saved a ton of money doing so! We walked every day even though the Chicago wind was brutal, and the conference schedule kept us going from 8am till midnight every day, too!
