What does strength mean to you? --------------------------------------------------- Some say strength is lift heavy weights. Some say it's being able to lift your body weight under control. I say it's both and that's why I have been training to be able to hold this for longer. One Year Ago This Date.... I was doubting myself if I would be able to walk again let alone train Crossfit. Couldn't even stand up straight without the help of the brace. The Grid was supposed to be a fun competition but their disorganisation crushed my life into pieces. Fracturing 2 spinal discs due to their lack of responsabitilty.. Annndd Guess what??? They Never gave a Fuck about all this!!!! Well here I am today.. It was frustrating & scary in the beginning, starting back again from the very first basic steps. The most greatest thing was the temptation to quit, but with the help of #thepit and the Professional dedication of @roderick_the_pit I have climbed back step by step the ladder I have Fallen from last Year. Giving up was never the solution. We then worked on sprint training, think prowler with 100kg loaded and a rope around the waist, 20m sprint then push back to start position. After todays heavy leg session, come an impromptu acroyoga session with Nutan. We are working on many different things but many are still just a work in progress. Today I trained alongside Matthew and Phil, we trained a Matthew style Rugby circuit, which was very demanding to say the least. We had a big emphasis on speed, power and plyometrics. I thoroughly enjoy attempting new challenges. I am fortunate enough to train with many different people who all provide a unique style to training. My aim is to be as well rounded as possible, strong, flexible, agile and quick. After the session me and Phil worked the calisthenics, practicing new moves. I must say L Sits on the weighted plates was super difficult👀👀. Firstly we did the usual compound power work, this was followed by a time trial, whereupon you did various squats and pulls with the barbell, which mimiced wrestling moves. Firstly we did the usual compound power work, this was followed by a time trial, whereupon you did a body sprawl followed by a quasi front squat, which mimics a wrestling move. We then had another time trial on the plyometric box jumps. Today I almost got to the 120cm jump but will have to make do at 100cm for the time being. After todays heavy leg session, come an impromptu acroyoga session with Nutan. We are working on many different things but many are still just a work in progress. Yoga literally means breath with movement and it is the driving force behind your entire practice. In life, breath can serve much of the same purpose. It’s the one constant in your life and it’s something you can always come back to in moments of stress and worry. Breath is a reminder that you’re alive, you’re present, you’re OKAY. DRISHTI (GAZE) In yoga, drishti refers to your gaze. It is the basis for developing a focused intention and concentration during your practice. As you move through different poses your drishti changes, but it’s meaning never alters. It keeps your grounded and focused on what you’re doing in the present moment. It keeps your mind from wandering and it keeps you centered. Drishti is one of the most important elements for entering a state of meditation. In life, your gaze can be your focus on your goals, hopes, and dreams for your life. FOUNDATION (LEGS, CORE, ARMS) In yoga, the foundation of your practice is keep your legs, core, and arms engaged in every movement. They create a strong base for each pose and by ‘turning on’ these body parts you light up your muscles and really work your body. The saying goes: “As the foundation is laid, so the walls of the house will rise.” TAPAS (HEAT) In yoga, heat is all around you.
