Everyone grieves differently. My uncle died suddenly last night and as we are absorbing the shock and sadness and figuring out if and how to make the 15 hour trek north, I'm reflecting on how grateful I am for my own life and my family. I can use this moment to either galvanize me or freeze or regress. The choice is mine. And today I choose life. My first move after getting out of bed was to Uber 30 minutes from home to finally get the sprint track spikes I've been meaning to get. Putting off. Waiting for a "later" that may never come. Next stop is to buy organic healthy food to keep on this healthy lifestyle track so I can live as long as possible...for me and for my daughter. Sure I cried most of the way there and back, but I certainly feel better than sitting at home eating junk food and crying in my bed. #grief#movingthroughgrief#movingforward#familyovereverything💯#sprinter#girlswhosprint#movingmeditation

Super happy Eliza (not that this pic shows it but it was the only pic I got from today😅) and thought the competition deserved a mention 👊🏼 Ran 59.18 in the 400m which is so close to my PB (which is from before uni!) so the fact I am close makes me so happy as I have only just got back under the 60second mark (like literally 5 weeks ago!!). Not only was today great but it is also the last day of my 4 week programme! It did worry me that maybe having a calorie deficit and no added sugar for the 4 weeks before this comp might effect my training and my competition performance but it didn’t! Sorry for not posting sooner however I’ve been very busy with school and life. So here is my update: I’m presently weening off medication one and upleveling on medication two. I’ve been experiencing some side effects but not illness related meaning the meds aren’t making me physically sick however they are messing with me psychologically and physiologically. Very weird place to be. Very unsettling. As I learn to deal with recognizing when my body might try and take me there and learning to focus on breathing through the episode is a work in progress. I’m hoping that in a few weeks after I’m off medication one my body will stabilize. Other points of interest, I’m still as wired as ever, I wish I could put that to good use however I’m still not stable enough to do a full on workout 🏋️‍♂️. So I just keep moving doing gardening, organizing and 🙆‍♀️ stretching. My sleep 💤 patterns way off. Remember prior to medication I had zero energy, so I was in bed by 7:30pm. Now I’m still wide awake at 11:00pm. Being awake that long tends to make one snack, yuk and my appetite has picked up which isn’t a bad thing for an under eater however I’m not thrilled either. Which leads me to my next point my weight. So when I started I was waffling between 121 and 123; I’ve noticed the last week and a half I’m waffling between 123 and 126; I mainly believe this is due to me being awake way too long, so as of tonight even if I can’t sleep I will be going to bed at 9:00pm and scale it back every few days to 8:30pm. I need to keep my weight under control mainly because I feel so much better at this weight, my clothes fit comfortably and movement is easier. I had every intention of posting yesterday, however the enemies that lurk thought they had another plan for me! “Not today devil, Not today!!!!!” For the sake of privacy I will not go into detail what I will do is lavishly praise God for sending me back up in my time of need. I want to thank all and I mean all the first responders who miraculously just appeared yesterday to help me on I84. They attended to me swiftly and compassionately. I thank my brother who also dropped everything and came to my rescue. I thank my best friends who immediately went into prayer on my behalf! Huge! Health Update: Basically I am definitely getting better, I’m starting to feel human. My mobility is progressing nicely, I even did a little leg strengthening workout Monday. I’ll do a band workout later this afternoon. My appetite waffles(*see what I did there😆) between I’m kinda hungry to not so much but I know I have to eat so I do. My tastebuds are still not operating well, even stuff I want to eat doesn’t taste good. Weight seems to be holding steady which is really good. My energy levels are through the roof considering where they were. MAJOR GOAL 🥅 #NSV 🔟 SPEED I had to stop my workout to do this! I am so proud of myself for accomplishing this on the last day of April! 😂 This was definitely a top April goal for me. Some of y’all might not know this but I don’t have a car. The bus I get on in the afternoon takes me straight home, however today I rode the bus to the station to another bus to get my 2nd workout in and I’m so glad I did. I’m currently grinding in more ways than none but that’s no excuse to not get it in. Last week and a little bit of the week before last I’ve been enjoying food and myself. (y’all know I’m honest and keep it real with y’all at all times ) I’m up on the scale but that’s cool. Day 3: Last night I had some trouble sleeping. Seems Melatonin does not over ride the excess energy these meds give. Good and bad. Weight is stable, mood good and I’ve definitely been squeezing in some band work to strengthen my legs and re-tone my thighs. Of course I still have inflammation in my knees and lower thighs so this may take a bit of time, took six months to get this bad. Well the day before yesterday I met with my specialist for my joint inflammation
Well the day before yesterday I met with my specialist for my joint inflammation which for right now seems to be a mystery of what the trigger is, waiting on blood work. After much discussion and basically my doctor telling this course of treatment is my alternative. I'm still trying to wrap my head around yesterday. I still can't talk about without breaking down because it's just that much of an emotional trigger for me. As of yesterday I've started aggressive treatment for RA. I'm not happy about the drugs I'm going to have to take. The first round is for eight weeks. The second round of a different drug is at least two years, unless my body goes into remission which I'm praying for. I'll be subject to routine blood work to make sure my liver is functioning properly. There are so many dietary changes I need to make, to avoid any weight gain or weird side effects. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! I will keep you posted as I will be monitoring everything. Start weight: 122 Mood: normal Appetite: low(which is normal for me) Energy level: low(which is normal for me) Sleep pattern: 5-8 hours at a clip I will start adding core work this week. Update: Day 2 Day 1 was very interesting. For the first time in six months I had energy, no nap after my 3:30am wake up. Started doing over due spring clothing organizing. Managed stairs and sitting without holding on, big deal for me. Was able to lift my arms without major pain and I slept through the night without waking in pain every time I rolled over. Day 2 weight is the same. Let give you an update since I haven’t done one in a bit. My goal has been to always manage any pain or illness as naturally as possible. As soon as I did start taking prescribed meds I immediately started having side effects. I’ve been on a two month search for all natural remedies. Two that I found which I ordered and one that I’m using presently; only two days in; were from sponsored ads on IG. The first one I’m trying is by LivingWell Nutraceuticals ‘Heal-n-SOOTHE’ which is a Systemic Enzyme Formula. You can research it for yourself as I did. We all hope we will be one of those who gets immediate results, I know after reading all the reviews, I do hope to be one of the fortunate people who starts to realize relief after the first two weeks of the initial eight week protocol. How Intuitive Are You? Here are some questions I'm always asked; "What diet is the best? Which one are you on? What are you doing to lose weight?" The answer to all of them are, "None, None & Nothing"! Really and I will explain why. The truth is everyone is very different. Everyone metabolizes differently. Based on genetics, heritage and environment we all react differently to different foods. You have heard the saying, "You are what you eat." However that isn't entirely true. What should be said is, "You are what you digest." We can all eat the same meal and we will all digest it differently because each of our bodies require a distinct amount of nutrients to keep it healthy and fueled. So back to our question, "How intuitive are you?" The best nuturition plan for you is one where you listen to your body, because as long as your body mind connection isn't short circuited your body will tell you what it needs. In March of 2018 I started eating Ketogenically; High Fat, Medium Protein, Low Carb. This method works great and it is sustainable as long as that is what your body requires. In the beginning of June my PT switched up my diet to a very strict plan to cut body fat. About July I fell off, as I wasn't feeling right, and getting back on Keto had been a struggle since, so I stopped struggling and started listening in January. My nutritional plan now follows a much more relaxed flow and I am no longer obsessing over counting calories, macros or "cheats". My body has naturally started to eliminate the taste for foods that aren't serving my present condition any longer. It takes time and a little effort to eat intuitively at first but with guidance it can be done. I love sports, all year round and of course I have my favs. Since we're just merging out of winter. We all know I love curling. I've been watching a lot of gymnastics, which I no longer can perform and that saddens me. I've also been watching figure skating another sport that's been sidelined for a minute, right now I'm just trying walk! Of course there has been all types of ski related events on, all of which I appreciate because if you've ever seen me on skis, well let's just say I'm grateful I never broke anything but my pride. Given that today is April Fools Day I would have thought someone was playing a trick on me but for one thing, I live alone, so no one snuck in and rigged my scale, lol😂! So since I didn't weigh myself on Sunday which is my custom, I remembered to do it this morning. I had to actually look twice. Update-032019: As of today I'm at 123.6😯 Once again I'm not doing anything terribly different. I've added moderate Isometric leg movements that's it. I'm sleeping more which is great. So I'll continue to monitor this. Still not at my goal weight however I'm pleased thus far. Update-032519: once again people keep remarking that I've lost weight and I truly don't feel like I weigh less. So Saturday evening as I was gathering my clothes to wear for Sunday I decide for grins and giggles to try on my favorite Jordache jeans 5/6. Well imagine my utter dismay when I didn't have to wiggle or lie down to get the darn things on, not only that they zipped right up. This is amazing since the last time I wore them was in 2010! Nine flipping years since I've worn jeans. So I guess in truth I have definitely thinned out, even though I can't feel it. I started the month of January at 133.2
I just wanted to update on where I am. I started the month of January at 133.2 A few weeks later I was at 130.2. People started asking if I was losing weight, yet I couldn't really answer because all my pants were still very snug. I got on the scale and sure enough I'd gone down a tiny bit, 129.6 this was mid February. At the beginning of March I clocked in at 126.9 and as of today I'm 124.2. So I had two questions, how was this weight just peeling off when I haven't truly changed my nutrition or fitness and why is it I weigh less now than I did back in 2011 and my pants from then don't fit now? My entire body composition has changed. At present I have not adjusted my fitness or nutrition plan although I plan to. I am sleeping better which is a bonus however my appetite for food still doesn't exist. I'm lucky if I get half a meal in because I just can't stomach the sight or smell of food. I won't even get started on my trip to the grocery store! I'm still stretching every night and soaking in Epsom salt twice a day.
