TIPPING THE BALANCE TOWARD PRECISION OVER PACE ON TODAY'S CORE WORK 👌🏼💯💪🏼👊🏼 Various "L" based movement combinations 👉🏼 Keeping that mix of static and dynamic work with emphasis on smooth transitions 😀👍🏼🤸🏼‍♂️ • TO BE BLUNT: The "soft" results we see with most core training is the result of outright soft practices😬😕. If you aren't happy with your level of core strength and conditioning, its not entirely your fault. I've said before, most of what you see out there as examples of "core strength" exercises are a complete joke. • REMEMBER: We aren't robots. We aren't designed to perform tiny irrelevant movements that require little to no skill or strength ➡️ I encourage you when it comes to core, to look beyond "exercises" being displayed and assess how much difficulty is associated with correct execution of the movement 🤔 If the movement is easy to master and can immediately be applied in high volume, there is a good chance it is relatively ineffective at substantially improving your core strength. 🙅‍♂️ • Strength is born over time from practiced intensity. A "burn" in the abdominal region is not a true or reliable measure of intensity ❌ (Generally) a good way to assess how effective a movement is going to be at improving your core strength, is selecting one that you find very difficult to execute with strict form for 3-5 repetitions. This gives you a measurable and scalable movement capability to work towards✔ • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • As usual, if you want to implement any of this into your own practice: Each movement can be explored/scaled to appropriate level in isolation or executed in the same or different combinations. Remember it isn't about mastery, it is about continual opportunity for progression and learning. Sometimes someone has years of time served in an industry that counts for a lot. Sometimes not. . Mileage. A car may have been around a lot longer but hasn’t got many miles on the clock. Similarly an older car may have a huge varied mileage on it. But often we see something swanky that has very few miles and are drawn to it. . When hiring a so called professional ask questions. Do your homework. . ❓ What industry specific experience do they have? ❓ What similar crossover industry experience do they have? ❓ Do they practice what they preach? ❓ What are their foundation principles? ❓ Why do they do what they do? ❓ Oh and are they full of shit? . I’m sure there’s many more questions you could ask. . Lots of talk doesn’t mean lots of knowledge! . It’s likely that if you pay peanuts you’ll get a monkey. Conversely ridiculous prices sometimes hide the fool behind the misconception that a high price always equals quality. . It’s about you. Being catered for in the best way possible for you. Responsibly, safely, scientifically and enjoyably. . By the picture I’m not saying all someone needs to do is read all the time. Doing is a huge part. However those that strive to continue their growth mindset and learn new information will stand above the rest time and time again. . It’s the desire and passion to provide the best service to customers, share knowledge and better themselves too. . Whoever you hire, for whatever service, in whatever industry; Do your homework and ask the questions. Seek out the dedicated.

One thing I used to do a lot when I lived in Glasgow was try out different gyms and classes. I loved mixing it up and then as time went by I slowly but surely got into my Crossfit bubble at G5 and since I got to Red Bluff I haven't really left. I absolutely love it but sometimes it's nice to mix it up. Yesterday I got the chance to try out @praxis_athletic for the first time after hearing @jemim_ rave about it and what a cool space and great crew it is. Sometimes someone slips into your life and adds that bit of spark, humour and good will that inherently rubs off on you and makes you thankful of the person they are, but sadly behind the laughs mine and @funkydbmtb dear friend Jen Landers has her own demons to contend with and ones that she couldn’t bear to live with and sadly took herself to a Hopefully more peaceful and loving place where she could share her warm personality and dirty laugh. This is the third time we have had the utmost please in remembering and celebrating our good friend Jen with some of her favourite activities! No one knows really knows what inner right people are fighting on a daily basis so don’t be a dick, be nice, listen and try don’t be judgemental when some people over compensate for the loathing they feel about themselves, Miss you loads Hulkster and will always remember the fun times with you! For those that do suffer from mental illness for which I can relate to, share your problem, for those worried about people that feel their friends have an issue, just ask how they are, its all it takes.
