Every girl has a different goal and different non-scale victories. ⠀ ⠀ This isn’t a quick fix. This is a lifestyle. When Shelly posted this in our private group page I almost cried. This was amazing to me!!! I had no idea when I started running accountability groups that I would receive the messages I get from my girls. 🥰 I’m very straight forward with my girls and I let them know this isn’t gonna happen in a month. If they’re patient with themselves and forgiving of themselves when they mess up. Because they will mess up. But if they keep their eye on the prize🏆 and show up everyday they WILL have success! ⠀ ⠀ So if you’re wondering what an accountability group is 🤷🏻‍♀️and if it’s for you or not, here you go!!!⠀ ⠀ I put my ladies in a private fb group. Everyday we show up at our own convenience and push play on a set of over 700+ workout library. There’s a workout for everyone! Each workout has a nutrition plan🥒🥬 and a personal trainer so you have good form and don’t get hurt. We each drink a super foods shake daily to make sure we are getting all our daily nutrients (because you can’t outrun a bad diet🙌🏼) and we share recipes and tips. We encourage each other to keep going and praise each other over all our victories. Even our NON scale victories💪🏼!!!! ⠀ ⠀ If you need help. ⠀ If you need guidance. ⠀ If you need motivation. ⠀ ⠀ Are you getting that from the gym? Do you have time to go to the gym everyday? I’ll admit, I use to be that girl who thought if I trained 6 days a week and spent 2 hours in be gym... the fat would just melt off. . I started doing fasted cardio which didn’t last very long because one I hate waking up early and two who wants to do cardio on an empty stomach. . I even trained 2x a day at one point. . I was literally doing the MOST! . Come to find out after busting my butt for 2.5 years, I was burnt out. . My body took long to recover after workouts, I was tired all the time, I drank pre workout and coffee everyday to mask how I actually felt. . As soon as I cut back on training, added more greens in my life and stopped with all the caffeine. . My body felt so much better. . I realized I could workout less days and get the same results. . That was when I had my AHA moment. The light bulb went off. . If you can take anything from this post... always find balance. Also, know that you don’t have to train hard everyday, workout long hours, or 6-7 days a week. . We all know we should eat more but how many of us really do?… 🤷🏻‍♂️ - - If you understood some of the benefits beyond simply looking at micro nutrition (vitamins / mineral / phytochemicals) you might be more inclined to. 🤔 - - Loading up on fiberous veg at meal times allows you to feel fuller and helps to stabilise blood sugar between meals. Which diet would you prefer? Both are the same calories and macros and both provide a deficit so will promote fat loss But is that all that’s needed? If it was only about the calories and macros then the chicken and rice diet with eggs would be fine Honestly though, who wants to do that every day? How long will it be before you’re craving a Nandos or a bit of chocolate if only to give you some variation? Not long I can tell you. Because the chicken and rice diet was mine from about 10 years ago when I was competing I’d do this in the week then binge on the weekend on sweet and tasty food to satisfy my taste buds The result was I generally overate massively on the weekend and as a result had to keep up the diet for longer Fast forward 10 years and I’ve been following the modified diet which I how I work with clients and am losing bodyfat just fine while maintaining muscle Key factor here is that I no longer feel the need to binge on weekends as I am eating tasty food through the week I did have a meal out and had a higher calorie day but even that was within my allowance Result is that I’m much better mood wise and the diet is easier. Health and weight loss aren’t always best friends Weight loss at too fast a rate or under duress of excessive exercise can be counterproductive in some cases Look at the Biggest Loser program on TV. 10 YEAR CHAL... just kidding 🤣 . EDIT: this post is about fat loss and what happens, not if I’m better with abs or not 😁 - I understand I posted 2 very different photos but it was to show that sometimes you can’t see fat loss happening - I just wanted to talk about fat loss very briefly - I understand we’re quite an impatient species, especially now with everything available to us 24/7 - But Fat loss isn’t quick (won’t last if it’s super quick) and it’s not linear. Most people will not lose body fat and carry on losing the same amount each week and it be a perfect journey - When you “lose” (shrink) body fat, your fat cells are emptied of triglycerides, which is used for energy. BUT... they fill back back up with water - so if you look at the scale, it won’t seem like you’ve made much progress. - The water is only temporary and will finally flush out, and then you will see the change (which Lyle McDonald cals the ‘whoosh’ 🤣). - This is why consistency is important, you’re actually consistently burning fat (shrinking fat cells), you just may not see it straight away - So carry on being consistent and know that you ARE progressing, even if you might not see it just yet. - (This is based on being in a caloric deficit and having the correct training in place) . . . . Everyone loves cardio Lollllz No one likes cardio unless you also like a bit of self torture and paddle beating in a room made of fire It’s a common trait to ramp up cardio on a diet and it makes sense as this increases output and what you’re trying to do is create a calorie deficit So the more you do the better yes? I make videos for my girls in our groups because, well let’s face it I 💜 to talk and it’s too much to type 😂. I was looking at the difference between one of my old videos to one I made yesterday and wowza!!!! October vs January 👀⠀ ⠀ I mean once I hit 38 I thought well this is it I’m gonna be fat for the rest of my life. I have PCOS and insulin issues. There’s no way I’m gonna be able to lose weight now. I have zero 🚫 energy and all these health issues are keeping me from working out. I also knew deep down that I really didn’t want to give up my little Debbie snacks 🤣 truth be told. 🙋🏻‍♀️ ⠀ ⠀ I couldn’t stop hating myself when I looked in the mirror. I cringed at the idea of getting dressed and going somewhere that there may be people. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️. I didn’t want to live another how ever many years God is gonna bless me with living like that. I wanted energy to do stuff with my family. I had gotten to a point where my legs felt so weak just walking down the basement steps. I had to ally oop myself up off the couch. I was done. ⠀ ⠀ I knew what workouts I wanted to do because they worked and I found a group of girls👯‍♀️ to do it with to hold me accountable and help me. I had so much fun with that group that I decided to become a coach myself even tho I was no where near my goal. Just because I knew so many girls like myself I wanted to help. 👯‍♀️⠀ ⠀ If you’re anything like me. Tofu Fried Rice 🍚🥡🥢 . You can’t certainly go wrong with making your own. . I always like to recreate dishes to make the healthiest version possible without compromising taste. . Ingredients - Hodo organic braised tofu: sweet & Chinese five spice blend. - brown rice - onions - tomatoes - portobello mushrooms - fresh garlic - olive oil - coconut aminos - smoked paprika - salt/ pepper - parsley (optional) - sunflower seeds (optional) . Instructions: add fresh garlic and olive oil to the pan. Then, cut up the tofu and vegetables, add it to the pan. Next, add salt/ pepper/ and coconut aminos. Let it sauté for a few minutes until the tofu starts to brown. Lastly, add in the brown rice, parsley, sunflower seeds, smoked paprika and a little more coconut aminos. . Or just throw everything in a pan at once and sauté it. That might work too. Yolo! . If the brown rice is already cooked, it should take you about 15 minutes to make this dish. . 🔥 loosing belly FAT 🔥 The internet can be a very misleading and dangerous place for those looking to lose excess belly fat and be leaner. Though there is tons of amazing information out there, there is also a ton of garbage information from companies that want to take your money. There are a thousand misconceptions out there about how the body actually works because selling a misconception is attractive and has 💰 written all over it whereas selling the truth (eating whole foods and being active) is boring and not marketable. - Such misconceptions include: that you can spot reduce belly fat, fat burners work, going keto is sustainable and healthy, endless cardio is the answer, and endless crunches is the answer to get a toned and flat belly. - Here is the truth though: you cannot spot reduce belly fat (though a ton of research has been done on fasted LISS which has been shown to allow an increase in oxidation of stubborn fat cells), fat burners suck (but fruits and veggies don't), going keto will make you lose a ton of weight super fast (but that weight is water and not fat and it isn't really all that healthy to go keto bro), cardio is important but strength training 3-5x/week is super important to build lean tissue and lean out, and no amount of crunches will outdo a bad diet (they aren't even the best exercise). - Don't follow the myths, follow what is healthy; whole foods, sleeping 8 hours a night, and strength training. Seems to be a running debate that one of the other is best I prefer big meals with longer breaks in the day Then I snack with a banana or other fruit to offset hunger between meals Why do I do this? I like to feel I’ve eaten something substantial Nothing worse when you’re hungry for a meal then sitting down to a few slices of chicken and veg You don’t feel full or satisfied and your hunger doesn’t go away therefore your mind is on your food and not your daily activity Result is that you then go off plan and overeat on junk or sweets Willpower is hard to maintain and fighting against your inner hunger will only last a certain amount of time so best to work with your hunger if you can and give it a sizeable meal to send it to sleep for a while Remember hunger is essentially a defence mechanism. It’s designed to help keep you alive Like breathing. You can hold your breath for only so long before you pass out. You need it to live Resisting hunger for too long will always result in a break unless your MR AB who didn’t eat for a year and lost a ton of weight Believe me. I have worked and continue to work with a lot of clients who look for fat loss. The first mistake many people make is to focus too much on fat loss. No, i'm not gone crazy, hear me out! You wouldn't build a house and put the roof on first would you? You'd carefully build the foundations and then the walls. So why then, when it comes to fat loss, should it be any different? To become successful at fat loss you need to build a foundation of sustainable habits first: - creating positive habits around food instead of feeling guilty when you eat - creating structure and routine around exercise and movement in general - creating a positive mindset - become as strong as possible If you can build positive habits around the points above then fat loss will come as a by product. The mistake is when fat loss becomes obsessive. You need to build a foundation that will last long term. Let me ask you this, how has your yo-yo dieting gone so far? Still feel rubbish? It's coffee. Don't make it harder than it needs to be.⠀ .⠀ Don't do that with your fat loss journey, too. Don't make it harder than it needs to be.⠀ .⠀ The science on this is simple: To lose fat you need to burn more calories than you eat. I know. This is not nearly as cool as telling your friends that you put butter in your coffee and do apple cider vinegar between meals.⠀ .⠀ But this science of being in a caloric deficit is undefeated. Seriously.⠀ .⠀ Start getting a better picture of what you're eating every day by tracking your meals. Find your caloric deficit with a simple equation of multiplying your bodyweight by 10 or 11 (a 120 person would eat 1,200 to 1,320 calories per day).⠀ .⠀ Once you get the calories straight, aim to eat about 100-120 grams of protein per day. The rest of your calories can come from the butter in your coffee or your triple shot latte. Doesn't matter as long as you hit that calorie number.⠀ .⠀ Add in some weight training to get stronger a few times per week.⠀ .⠀ Then wash. Rinse. Repeat. A lot.⠀ .⠀ Boom. Fat loss in full effect. You have to do the boring stuff like eating a bit healthier most of the time in order to have fun some of the time eating foods like pizza or burgers. Flip flop those scenarios where you have fun most of the time and are boring some of the time and that’s where we run into weight gain. No bueno. How to clean up your diet in 5 weeks! I prefer the word lifestyle over diet but here's MY alternatives to each week as everyone is different and it takes time to adjust to each change. Week 1- if you can't add real fruits and veggies try frozen and if you can't have frozen try a greens powder Week 2- Cut it down rather then out completely try alternatives grilled chicken for example Week 3- Try both have 50-50 bread/bagels Week 4- Have a cheat day, try vegetarian, reduced sugar and gluten free sweets.
