Females will isolate herself from the herd when labour pain begins. The perception that females can delay giving birth for an additional month if conditions are harsh may however not be realistic.A single calf is born, and is immediately concealed in cover for the first few weeks of its birth. The fawn then joins a nursery group within its mother's herd. Calves are suckled for four to six months; young males, forced out of the group, join bachelor herds, while females may stay back. . . . . #wildlifeindia#natgeowild#natgeo#gramoftheday#travelfreak#nationalpark#wildfeed#lonelyplanet#indianphotographer#indiantraveller#instafeature#indiatravelbloggers#indianshutterbugs#tweetgram#mypixeldairy#ZambiaExplorers#Zambia#ThisisAfrica#ThisisZambia#HeartofAfrica#ThePrideofAfrica#discoverzambia#explorezambia#bucketlist#travelbloggers#instatravel#travelgoals#explore#impala

While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls is classified as the largest, based on its combined width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft)[5] and height of 108 metres (354 ft),[6] resulting in the world's largest sheet of falling water. The river is home to 39 species of fish below the falls and 84 species above it. Hippos walk along familiar paths as far as 10 km (6 miles) into surrounding grasslands to feed for five or six hours. The long canines and incisors are used strictly as weapons; grazing is accomplished by grasping grass with the tough wide lips and jerking the head. Near the river, where grazing and trampling are heaviest, large areas may be denuded of all grass, which results in erosion. Hippos, however, eat relatively little vegetation for their size. . . . . #wildlifeindia#natgeowild#natgeo#gramoftheday#travelfreak#nationalpark#wildfeed#lonelyplanet#indianphotographer#indiantraveller#instafeature#indiatravelbloggers#indianshutterbugs#tweetgram#mypixeldairy#ZambiaExplorers#Zambia#ThisisAfrica#ThisisZambia#HeartofAfrica#ThePrideofAfrica#discoverzambia#explorezambia#bucketlist#travelbloggers#instatravel#travelgoals#explore#hippo

The African fish eagle feeds mainly on fish, which it swoops down upon from a perch in a tree, snatching the prey from the water with its large, clawed talons. The eagle then flies back to its perch to eat its catch.African fish eagle catch prey over ten times their own body weight, it is too heavy to allow the eagle to get lift, so it instead drags the fish across the surface of the water until it reaches the shore. The common warthog is a medium-sized species,A warthog is identifiable by the two pairs of tusks protruding from the mouth and curving upwards. The lower pair, which is far shorter than the upper pair, becomes razor-sharp by rubbing against the upper pair every time the mouth is opened and closed. The upper canine teeth can grow to 25.5 cm (10.0 in) long and have a wide elliptical cross section, being about 4.5 cm (1.8 in) deep and 2.5 cm (0.98 in) wide. A tusk will curve 90° or more from the root, and will not lie flat on a table, as it curves somewhat backwards as it grows. The tusks are not used for digging, but are used for combat with other hogs, and in defense against predators – the lower set can inflict severe wounds. They are largely herbivorous, but occasionally also eat small animal food. . . . . #wildlifeindia#natgeowild#natgeo#gramoftheday#travelfreak#nationalpark#wildfeed#lonelyplanet#indianphotographer#indiantraveller#instafeature#indiatravelbloggers#indianshutterbugs#tweetgram#mypixeldairy#ZambiaExplorers#Zambia#ThisisAfrica#ThisisZambia#HeartofAfrica#ThePrideofAfrica#discoverzambia#explorezambia#bucketlist#travelbloggers#instatravel#travelgoals#explore#travelgoals#warthog

It is the fastest land animal.Cheetahs are active mainly during the day, with hunting their major activity. Adult males are sociable despite their territoriality,Carnivores, cheetah mainly prey upon antelopes and gazelles. They will stalk their prey to within 100–300 m (330–980 ft), charge towards it and kill it by tripping it during the chase and biting its throat to suffocate it to death. Cheetahs can reach speeds of 112 km/h (70 mph) in short bursts, but the top end speed of the cheetah is disputed by more recent measurements. Leopards often hide large kills in trees, a behavior for which great strength is required. There have been several observations of leopards hauling carcasses of young giraffe,Leopards are very stealthy and like to stalk close and run a relatively short distance after their prey. They kill through suffocation by grabbing their prey by the throat and biting down with their powerful jaws. They rarely fight other predators for their food. . . . . . #ZambiaExplorers#Zambia#ThisisAfrica#ThisisZambia#HeartofAfrica#ThePrideofAfrica#exploreafrica#explorezambia#discoverzambia#wildlife#wildlifephotography#conservation#bucketlist#vacation#travelbloggers#travelinspiration#travelafrica#travelzambia#instatravel#travelgoals#safari#adventure#explore#leopard

On the border of Zambia and Tanzania, you will find this hidden gem: Kalambo falls. Not many people know it, and it is not heavily visited (unlike Victoria Falls), but it is Africa’s 2nd highest waterfall, twice as high as Victoria Falls. It’s #WildlifeWednesday 🐘 and this Wednesday is all about elephants. ___ #DidYouKnow elephants form deep family bonds and live in a tight matriarchal family group of related females (a herd). A herd can consist of 8 - 100 individuals (or more!) depending on the terrain and family dynamics 🐘 ___ Elephants are extremely intelligent with an amazing memory. This helps the matriarch to guide the herd to watering holes during the dry seasons (and to remember where they were once poached). Elephants also display signs of grief, joy, anger and play 🌞 ____ Image: @bushcampcompany

vervet monkeys serve as a nonhuman primate model for understanding genetic and social behaviors of humans. They have been noted for having human-like characteristics, such as hypertension, anxiety, and social and dependent alcohol use. The most significant studies done on vervet monkeys involve their communication and alarm calls, specifically in regard to kin and group recognition and particular predator sightings. . . . . #ZambiaExplorers#Zambia#ThisisAfrica#ThisisZambia#HeartofAfrica#ThePrideofAfrica#exploreafrica#explorezambia#discoverzambia#wildlife#wildlifephotography#conservation#bucketlist#vacation#travelbloggers#travelinspiration#travelafrica#travelzambia#instatravel#travelgoals#safari#adventure#explore#monkey
