When it comes to weight loss we must adhere to a calorie deficit but more isn't always better. - I almost always recommend a slow approach somewhere around a 10% deficit. The main reason for this is adherence and sustainability, what's the point of creating a greater deficit if your unlikely to stick to it. A small deficit will allow you to have enough energy to move/ train but at the same time allow you to enjoy yourself socially. With a small deficit with adequate protein and resistance training you should be able to maintain a large amount of your muscle mass. - If you create a greater deficit you begin to run the risk of creating an unsustainable and strict lifestyle. You may be tempted to cut the calories quite a lot to reach your goals quicker but what happens when you get there? Do you continue on low calories? What do you do when your mates are out enjoying themselves with a less restrictive lifestyle? It will also be a lot harder to find the energy to move/train with muscle retention also being an issue. Some of my study hacks to make sure I get it done: • zero cal @monsterenergy for late nights with no crash • lots of whole grain @goldfishsmiles to keep the snackies under control, and the progress on track! • change location every couple of hours. Even if it’s just from your desk to your couch, it can help! • water, water, WATER: it will help with energy 🤯 • take a few big meal and/or gym breaks during the day, and minimize the smaller social media or gaming breaks. Keep your phone out of arms reach and FOCUS on your work for a couple of hours. • SLEEP 😴 whenever you can, as efficiently as you can. Sometimes just closing your eyes for 10 minutes during the day is enough to give yourself a boost!

The first part of this movement requires you to setup in a single arm low plank on the @bosu_fitness BALL. Make sure your shoulder stacks over your elbow, you’re evenly balanced, and your core is actively engaged. . Place your free hand on the end of a HEAVY dumbbell and push forward using your shoulders then pull backwards engaging your back muscles. . How are you filling up your mind (as well as your body)? 💭💭💭 I find if I’m feeling a bit off, it’s usually because I’m filling my mind with crap, or my body doesn’t like what I’ve eaten, or perhaps I’ve just indulged in too many superficial conversations 😂 I used to love learning philosophy, and lately I’ve been re-inspired to pick up some works of the greats, as we can learn so much from there. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is an insane amount of supplements out there these days, and because there are so many, it might seem like this is where you should spend your energy and resources. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ NOPE!⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead of complicating things, worrying about stuff you most likely don’t need and wasting your money and time trying to pick out fat burners, pre-workout and other supplements, focus on keeping shit as simple as possible with these 3 things:⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1⃣ NUTRITION⠀ Aim for (mostly) whole non-processed food, loading up on protein and veggies, and getting in 2-3L of water/day (the bigger you are, the more you’ll need)⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2⃣ TRAINING⠀ a) Make sure your training is purposeful. Is your training helping you reach your goals? If not, change it up yourself or hire a coach who will be able to help you. ⠀ b) Make sure your training is progressive so that you continue to get stronger.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3⃣SLEEP⠀ Aim for at least 7 hours a night (maybe you can go with less, but whatever # it is, aim for good quality sleep that allows you to physically and mentally perform throughout the whole day). ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are exhausted and reaching for sugary snacks/ are too tired to workout because you stayed up late watching TV or on social media, you don’t need a pre-workout, you just need to get some sleep! ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Create a nighttime routine to help you get to bed earlier. Cheat Curls are useful for concentrating on overloading the biceps on the eccentric (negative) portion of the rep. ▫️ ▫️ When a muscle is contracting against resistance or gravity, this is the concentric part of the rep. I wasn't able to go to the gym so I brought the gym to me. ⛄In honor of 12 days of fitmas. I did my own little fitmas Challenge. I like to be a creative and fun with my workout. So here is the challenge: ⛄ I wrote out 12 different exercises on cards and placed them in a mug. I than drew 6 of those cards randomly. ⛄For each 6 exercises I roll the die twice; one for reps (number plus 12) and second, sets. ⛄My 6 random exercises, butt lifts, crunches, plank (seconds), push-ups, cradle rocks,calf raises. ⛄It was fun and I will do it again. ⛄Happy fitmas may your abs be merry and tight.

I was glad I didn't talk myself out of it and my personal trainer @hardhatfit1 didn't let me off the hook. I felt better afterwards. Tears became laughter and my heart wasn't so heavy.
