❗️EDUCATIONAL POST ❗️ Do you experience LOWER BACK PAIN? . . Many people perceive compound exercises like deadlifts and squats as bad for your back / spine, however when these exercises are performed with correct technique they are actually the best exercises you can do to strengthen your lower back and stabilising muscles. . . Assuming you use good technique and still receive pain a few area to look at include: . . * MOBILITY * So many people have tight / shortened hip flexors, hamstrings and glutes. This is generally due to the amount of hours they spend sitting on their ass each day. When you sit down, you are shortening your hip flexors which causes anterior pelvic tilt as well as shortening your hamstrings and glutes. . . . . * ACTIVATION * Our glutes are one of our most important stabilising muscles and without proper activation your squats, deadlifts and hip thrusts will rely on secondary muscles like your lower back. This causes over activation which is why you feel continuous lower back “pump”. . . * TECHNIQUE * As mentioned above you may have good technique however small technique adjustments to recruit your glutes can provide less activation and relief of secondary muscles like your lower back. . . There are many other factors which can cause lower back pain, however with my clients my first protocol is to: . 1) Stretch / loosen their glutes, hip flexors, hamstrings and TFL . 2) Improve activation of each of their glute muscles individually . 3) Improve their stability of their exercises with small technique changes. . . In my next post I will show you how I perform step 2, I am focusing on improving my activation of my glutes so my daily activities and exercises will rely less on my secondary muscles like my lower back and quadriceps muscles (which are effecting my knees.) . . Finally thoughts 💭 . Glute training is not just for girls! Before all girls wanted a big ass 🍑 glutes primary function was to stabilise. If you want a big deadlift, squat or even to be explosive in Olympic lifting or athletics, train your glutes and get huge results! . .

Day 6!!!! Can’t even believe we just wrapped up the first week of this 6 week challenge!! Absolutely obsessed with the fact that it’s only 20 min a day!! This busy momma doesn’t like excuses but I’ve used them all the past couple months and with this I don’t have any more!! Fast, furious, and over before I knew what hit me!! Felt SO good to slow it down today and stretch it out! One things for sure if I don’t banging obliques and killer quads after this, I’ve done something wrong 😳🙌 Cheers to tomorrow’s rest day and is it CRAZY that I’m excited to see what Monday brings!!

I’ve been called Lil’ Dickey 3 times since buying this headband... 😂🙌🏼 - Today’s WOD made my hair extra wild... - It went as followed: KB Snatches x1,000,000 Overhead KB Walks x2,000,000 steps DB Bench Press x3,000,000 superset w/ Single Leg Push-ups x3,000,000 Turkish Get Up x1/2 - I almost screwed up my left arm trying the Turkish Get Up so that’s why it’s only 1/2.... otherwise it would’ve been 5,000,000 💁🏻‍♂️ - Light workout due to the fact that I’m in a hotel gym, but I do what I gotta do to get shit done.. ja feel? - Get after it tomorrow ya filthy animals!!!
