WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ACHIEVE?..⁣⁣ Before you talk about blah blah down the street that is doing it all, they are the exception, not the rule.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A balanced lifestyle is great for someone that wants to have a happy, average life, and enjoy a little bit of everything 😀 nothing wrong with this.. But if you want to excel at anything, then balance is a luxury you cant afford. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you want to be a high level athlete, then you need to suck it up and realize that you can't eat whatever you want because your Food needs to fuel you properly. You can't earn a lot of money because you need to find a flexible job that lets you train A LOT and your focus needs to be on training not job progression. You cant socialize every night or weekend because sleep is the MOST important part of recovery. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you want to earn lots of money then you need to suck it up and realize that you can't be an elite athlete because your work hours are going to effect your training hours and the effort you put out during training. You can't spend all your money partying and eating out because it needs to be invested and you need to have a clear focused mind in order to progress your business, or through the ranks of your job. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you want to travel a lot then you need to suck it up and realize that you won't be rich because you won't be able to hold down a steady job and you won't be as valuable so don't expect pay rises. You won't be an elite athlete because your fatigued state from traveling means your training days get cut, your recovery is poor, your nutrition won't be as good as it needs to be. ⁣ ⁣⁣ If you want to excel beyond average at anything, you need focus on that and accept that other parts of your life will be put on hold. ⁣ PROGRESSION⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ It’s no secret, but when you look at a lot of fitness programs and plans it seems like it’s the best kept secret around!⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Progression is something that you need in any activity that you do, especially when it comes to health and fitness.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ It’s all well and good going to the gym each day or attending your workout class each morning, but if you’re not progressing during your exercise or training, what’s the point, and are you actually getting any benefit from it?...⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Make sure your training program or the classes you go to keep you progressing towards the goal you want or the goal that is best for you. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Make sure you have experienced trainers that understand the program they are giving you, understand your limitations, and understand how these two fit together to help build you. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Don’t settle for the same circuit or the same weights, or the same movements. You need variety and you need progression. It’s that time again, every year I say I’m going to stop competing and every y
⁣ It’s that time again, every year I say I’m going to stop competing and every year I get ready to step on that regionals floor. I can’t complain, it’s the best feeling knowing that your programming and your facility is working, for myself and for my members. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This year is the start of a new CrossFit era. Regionals has turned to sanctionals, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is a lower level of competition, in reality this is the same level if not higher then any regionals that’s been. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Now instead of competing within your region, you are up against anyone in the world that wants to qualify, the workouts are going to be broader, some of the competitions are longer (4 days instead of 3), and the number of athletes to qualify for games is cut.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is a new beast and being able to qualify for any of the sanctioned competitions is a HUGE achievement and a true testament to your work ethic, your club, and your training system! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m lucky enough to be taking a team and two individuals over to the @auscrossfitchamp in a few weeks! This will get your brain buzzing! You’ll be set up for the day, ready to accomplish everything you want. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Once you’ve done your exercise, get outside. Take the dog for a quick walk around the block or just stand outside and drink a cup of coffee (or whatever you drink). How do I know if it’s for me? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The community -⁣⁣ The best community is a supportive, family-like training environment that celebrates their members achievements no matter how big or small. It should be a great place to meet likeminded, positive people who will keep you accountable if you don’t show up to class! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Progressive, long-term training - ⁣⁣ A good facilities programming system should allow individuals of all backgrounds and ability levels to continuously progress and reach their goals, regardless of what those might be. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It takes time to learn, practice, and perfect movements. It takes time to build a strong and healthy body and mind. Flag off concession cards and a minimum membership of 3 x a week should be encouraged. Great facilities aren’t in this business to take your money and never see you. They WANT to change lives. ⁣ To my crew out there 🔥⁣ ⁣ HOW TO PLAN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS OF TRAINING⁣ ⁣ It’s the end of the year, the challenges are over, you’re coming to the end of your personal program, competitions for the year have finished up, where to from here?...⁣ ⁣ During this time of year It’s important to relax and recharge but it’s just as important to keep focused and consistent with your training, nutrition, and health.⁣ ⁣ NUTRITION ⁣ Over the next three weeks don’t get too hung up on your diet, eat as healthy as you can. Salads, fish, homemade potato or kumara chips, make your own pizzas, have BBQs, load up your plates with colorful veg, drink lots of water, and consider supplements like GOOD GREEN STUFF to keep your nutrients up.⁣ ⁣ It is the festive season, but alcohol is a depressant and it will squash any motivation or energy you have so just be smart about it and like all good things, enjoy in moderation! ⁣ ⁣ TRAINING⁣ Don’t stress if you have no long-term training goal and you don’t know what you’re doing or why you’re doing it. This is the time to recover and recharge, but keep some consistency in your training to stay sane. ⁣ ⁣ Come along to the classes and have fun! Go up the mount, swim, run along the beach, do something to get the body moving each day! ⁣ ⁣ Don’t make excuses not to come to class. Busy with the kids, parties, too much on etc, the class is only an hour, fit it in and you’ll feel amazing for it!⁣ ⁣ Mid January we will be kicking into our first challenge of 2019, it’s new, it’s going to have lots of fun ways to keep motivated, and it’ll give you GREAT results to start the year with. ⁣ ⁣ Those that have just finished a challenge/program that may be feeling a little lost right now, know that we have you covered! ⁣ The @auscrossfitchamp are over and it’s been a great two weeks⁣! ⁣ What I love about this sport is even though I’ve been in it for so long, I’m still always learning new things about myself, my programming, my athletes.⁣⁣ ⁣ This competition didn’t hold back on teaching something every workout. Even though competing is not my main focus, I still love it and i don’t just want to stop. I still want to push hard and I still want to be ready for the Unknown and unknowable, and this Comp showed me just how far from that readiness I am.⁣ ⁣ Wod four was a great one, we gave a it a good push last night and I got an acceptable time and row score only to find out I had missed 8 wall balls 🤦‍♂️ (rookie mistake) So, I got up this morning, had a quick warm up and hit it again, it didn’t go to plan and I ended up with a not so acceptable score. That’s life and that’s the nature of this sport. ⁣ ⁣ I learned things like this in every workout and enjoyed the past two weeks. Ego is the biggest thing I see that stops people from reaching their goals in life. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve seen potentially great athletes give up because their egos get the better of them. Training gets hard and the PBs and improvements get less, so they get frustrated and throw In the towel. Injuries or imbalances are identified and people’s egos are too big to continue their training with scaled or adapted movements, so they throw in the towel.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You need to get dirty, get ugly, sweat, cry, be frustrated, be out of breath, your muscles need to burn, you need to wake up sore and tiered, and you need to recover and stretch and mobilise.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you want to make a change, you’re going to have to work for it.
