The iliotibial band (ITB) is a thick band of fascia formed proximally at the hip by the fascia of the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and tensor fasciae latae muscles. . Iliotibial band (friction) syndrome is a common cause of lateral knee pain related to intense physical activity resulting in chronic inflammation🔥 . When the knee flexes, the iliotibial band (ITB) moves posteriorly along the lateral femoral epicondyle. When the band is excessively tight or stressed, the ITB rubs against the epicondyle irritating the lateral synovial recess. . 📚 Research suggest that manual therapy with functional rehabilitation, targeting the hip, knee and ankle will help alleviate peripheral sensitivity, pain, as well as improve performance of the lower kinetic chain. . Today was graduation day for my final portion of initial entry training. Ten weeks here in AIT, and this picture just about says it all. Some of these people I'm proud to call my battle buddies. Some, not so much: but there is good even in the negative. I have learned, in these last six months, more about self-discipline and controlling negative emotions than I have with all of the other years of my life combined. Though we still have a lot to learn, we leave here today as trained soldiers and heavy equipment operators. Dead Bugs🐜, Episode 80 🎥 -  #TechniqueTuesday - 🔹️The dead bug is an exercise that more people should be doing. When performed correctly, it is an excellent core and spinal stability exercise. - 🔹️The dead bug is an anti-spinal extension based exercise, meaning that there must be a high degree of abdominal and oblique muscle activation to resist the lower back from moving into an excessively arched (extended) position. - 🔹️While there are multiple variations that can be performed, we have demonstrated a few solid ones to start in the video SWIPE ➡️ - 🔑Begin by performing a posterior pelvic tilt (show in the video). I GET IT that we all want to support each other, but why not support (follow/like pics/comment) the teachers in your city? The stay at home moms and dads? The people with the “normal“ jobs? YES, START LOCALLY to grow your online training business. Make contact with the people that are more likely to hire you for your online service and/or would feel motivated and inspired by your posts. . . . Again, get off your ass and put in the work. Search/follow hashtags on Instagram. Look at the people who post that hashtag your city or teacher or stayathomemom etc. Reach out to those people whose posts stand out to you. OK so, I joined @anytimefitness_munnowest@anytimefitness just under a week ago but, I'm already a lot more mentally stable / happier.. There's still along way to go. I have my first PT Sesh tomorrow with @taylamadebodies and am fucking keen af. This is my 3rd time joining a gym and I say "third time lucky". I have obvious injuries.. Some due to stupid drunken moments, some due to being sick w/ chronic pain but, I'm determined to flatten my belly and help with my tummy pain through some cardio (pain unit and gastroparesis studies have proven that exercise helps pain and, obviously, digestion!) also, to strengthen my knee and shoulder which have been fucked for years. Last but, not least, manage mt diabetes. To those who know me, this is a HUGE thing. After spending weeks at a time in hospital over the last 10 years.. (overdosing/underdosing on my insulin, drug seeking, attention seeking, attempted suicide.. All turning into drug addiction, chronic pain and regular ambo/hospital trips/stays, sometimes twice a day or for weeks/months at a time. Almost dying, being put through some of the worst things imaginable) Anyway, it's time to take control and make my life, MY LIFE! Remember - mobility doesn't necessarily means it needs stretching! Often times, lacking stability will present itself as tightness. If you're not sure, don't guess - get assessed! . ⏳For those that have built up mobility limitations from years of poor (or a lack of) movement - Try these out. As always, make sure you're following these up with some strength work! Mobility = Strength . 💪🏼 If you find your shoulders rounding forward with push ups, dips, or throughout the day - you want to check your shoulder internal rotation. While there's always a strength and postural component to this, some people need to spend more time improving mobility in the proper shoulder position . ☑️ Really pin those shoulder blades back and keep the back of the shoulder against the ground. The CDC reports that motor vehicle accidents are the third leading cause of all TBI-related emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and deaths. I promote TBI awareness universally - it could happen to anyone🧠 . 🧠The CDC also reports that that falls are the leading cause of TBI, 79% of which occuring in adults ages 65 and over. With TBI / concussion being a hot topic of late, educational material is increasingly more accessible. Most of this information is online. Unfortunately, the 65 and over crowd is typically going to have more trouble finding quality online material, and can’t educate themselves as effectively. I’m about to be real and honest with you guys.. _ The reason I haven’t posted my bench workouts is because I’ve not been doing a typical chest day.. _ And the reason I haven’t been doing chest day is because I’ve been dealing with some kind of pec injury & shoulder malfunction on my left side (my non-surgery side) _ And after wallowing in the dumps for a few days worried about my next move and whether or not I would be able to peruse strength training again, (yeah I’m human 😢) I dusted myself off, and began to enter into “recovery mode.” _ So what does that mean in the long game? _ It means I’m going to be doing a lot of what you see here.. _ Tonight, I stretched and did shoulder therapy for 1 hr & 1/2 and to be honest it was weird doing that while everybody else was doing the fun stuff. _ But, right now this is what I have to do. _ And to ensure that I’m really taking care of my body, I have an ortho appointment scheduled in a couple of weeks! _ I love you guys and I appreciate everyone of you! _ _ _ #Recovery#ShoulderMobility#PhysicalTherapy#BeUnbreakable#iam1stPhorm
