I test often the spine rotation because of its lack in a common training session of olympic weightlifting and a little presence for many throughout the day. . If the spine gets limited ranges, the shoulder joint (for example) will get affected by it as well. 💥THE POWER SNATCH💥 • Why learn this exercise? • BECAUSE… • Snatch variants are just about the coolest looking barbell exercises there are - and when performed skilfully with some weight hanging on the bar are just bad-ass!🏋️‍♂️ • ALSO, LEARN THEM BECAUSE… • The fast lifts are not just for the weightlifters, and cross-fitters, but for everyone who could benefit from learning how to generate and apply their muscular strength quickly. Their also a lot of fun to learn as the challenge of moving the weights fast and staying on one's feet becomes a welcome change of pace from the heavy and slow grinding lifts that are; the squat. the press, the deadlift, and the bench press. • The power snatch is just one of these fast lifts, and just as with the power clean, the benefits of the power snatch don’t initially come from the weight used, as it starts out relatively light compared to both the power clean and the deadlift, but from the speed and explosiveness of the movement, the increased distance the weight has to travel and the increased demands on balance, coordination, accuracy and timing. • Although it has the reputation for being difficult to learn, if you can do a deadlift, and you can do an overhead press, then you can learn a power snatch. • In essence all you have to do to get started is place your hands wider out than you would for a deadlift (sometimes all the way out to the sleeves of the bar), set your back, pull the bar up to your knees, and from there it is no more complicated than a jump with a barbell in the hands, finished with a catch overhead and standing tall. • Don’t let the fast dynamic nature of the lift put you off from learning it - it’s simply not that hard to get started with and is useful enough that all lifters should know how to do it. • My “Learn To Lift Programme” starts on the first Tuesday of every month, there are three groups, we train every Tuesday and Thursday at 1️⃣6:30am - 7:15am, 2️⃣12pm -1:15pm, and 3️⃣6pm - 7:15pm, the location is @spartanfitnessstudios Derby Uk, and the cost is £99 for four weeks. • Get in contact with me @pbstrengthandfitnessmentoring and be part of my lifting community!

Cardio in Strength Athletes — We previously covered cardio briefly in terms of concurrent training but how important is general cardio and how should we incorporate it? — @gregnuckols gives us a interesting insight regarding cardio with strength training — 1️⃣ Strength training is just as much aerobic as it is anaerobic. The stronger your aerobic conditioning, the less fatigue you’ll feel during a set and also better recovery in between sets and overall. 2️⃣ An ideal conditioning plan for strength athletes will combine different modalities such as low intensity cardio, lifting to failure and high intensity intervals while making sure it does not negatively effect recovery from strength training. 3️⃣ A good place to start should be with low intensity cardio (bike), 2 sessions per week for about 20-30 minutes with your HR around 130 or 60-70% of your max heart rate. — For more specific recommendations and information, check out his article! ______________________________________________________ #weightlifting#cardio#powerlifting#olympiclifting#olympicweightlifting#bodybuilding#athlete#gym#conditioning#power#strength#strong#training#beastmode#workout#motivation#crossfit#fitness#fit#muscle#muscles

The volume work was no joke either 💀 Getting the feeling from members struggling to jump on a box by scaling up this skill with a single leg jump. RepostBy @mastrength: During the dip for the #splitjerk or #squatjerk,#Chinese athletes are taught to keep their balance directly over the ankle bone. At this balance point, the athlete has room to flex the hips slightly while pushing the knees out which keeps the barbell moving vertically. If the athlete is on the heels then the athlete counter the forward bend of the knees which means the barbell can move forward during the dip, extension, and catch. Sometimes athletes can compensate by leaning back during the dip but this position is stressful to the lower back and unstable. . Therefore, jerk dips are used to train athletes to feel and maintain the proper position, especially with heavy weights. In this example from the #mastrengthcamp the 62kg athlete is using a pause during his 200kg jerk dips to build leg endurance and make sure his balance is correct. It is easy to implement these after heavy movements #frontsquat,#backsquat, or #cleanandjerk since the body is already acclimated to heavy loading. . So try these out if you find that your barbell goes forward or backward during your jerk dip, or if you feel very unstable or unconfident during the jerk. One valuable lesson I learnt from Crossfit was its ability to teach you many different movements. From sitting, walking, running, jumping, lifting, gymnastics etc... But there is one that I am forever grateful and that is #selfawareness , self accountability, learning to be honest with ones ability and humble enough to embrace one's weaknesses and work on those instead of just counting reps and sets as I previously believed. I think I will be forever a #crossfitter inlove with #weightlifting 😜 #tbt
