“If you can make it through the night, there’s a brighter day” Anyone who knows me, knows I love Tupac. This quote has always stuck with me, partially because it’s tatted on my shoulder but it stays in my heart too. Anything in life worth having is worth fighting for, but I think so many people give up at the first sign of distress and continue to miss out on their blessings. It’s hard being an entrepreneur. There’s no arguing with that. It’s even harder trying to create something that no one has done before and being the only example for those you are leading. I made decisions about the direction of my business back in December that left me with a lot of work and very little help. You can’t be afraid to step into the unknown. You can’t wait for someone to hold your hand. You can’t expect anyone else to put the same effort into your dreams that you do. It will be YOU waking up at 3am, going to bed at midnight. It will be YOU taking on more and more responsibilities until you find the team that aligns with your vision and work ethic. You will go through more people than you imagined trying to find the right fit. You will have highs and you will have lows, but a breakthrough is always just around the corner if you stick the course. Im thankful that I am now on the other side of this struggle and I will be reintroducing sleep to my life. But, I will never accept comfort over struggle if I’m not in alignment with the vision and goals that God set out for me to achieve. The blessings always outweigh the tremulous moments. Practice obedience. Things will get rough. Expect it, and do what you’re being led to do. Strength is a choice. Waiting until you are ready is the same as expecting it not to happen. READ THAT AGAIN 😊. . @melrobbinslive taught me this and I truly believe it’s the reason why our team had our best year yet. When we set out to be one of the top teams in our company last January, I had no idea how we were going to do it, and I most definitely wasn’t “ready” to accomplish that...but I set the goal, created a plan, and put my head down and got to work. . If we give ourselves the time to think, we will talk ourselves out of whatever that hard or scary thing is EVERY SINGLE TIME. Maybe it’s going for that promotion or taking that trip or going back to school for your dream job...stop thinking about why you can’t do the thing and just DO THE THING. It can either be the best decision of your life or you’ll fall flat on your face...but not matter what, 1. You’ll learn from it and 2. You won’t look back with regret for never going for it. . This is why your diet is failing⬇️⬇️⬇️ 1. Metabolic adaptation/the body’s defense system: As you lose weight your metabolism will slow down just from the fact that you are now carrying less body weight so it takes less calories per day to keep you functioning. Think of dieting as “controlled starvation” your body does not want to starve so it slows down metabolism to conserve energy. Your body will defend itself against “starvation” or weight loss by reducing your basal metabolic rate in order to reduce the energy gap or deficit. Your hunger levels will also go up to send a signal to your body to eat more. This is why in order to continue losing weight and push past a plateau you need to: 1. Eat less or 2. Exercise more In order to keep creating that caloric deficit or energy gap as the body responds and adjusts to shorten the deficit you’ve created. Extremely important: This is why reversing your diet to a high level of calories and having a healthy metabolism is CRUCIAL!! If you automatically start dieting at 1,300 calories, in order to continue creating a deficit you’re going to have to continue dropping calories even lower!!! By reducing your calories to extreme levels for an extended period of time will greatly reduce your metabolic rate making your body more resistant to change. However if you have properly reversed and are eating say 2,600 calories to start with, you have much more wiggle room when the plateau comes, and it ALWAYS will! With the new year comes new health and fitness goals. I urge you not to jump on some extreme or restrictive diet. Rather, think about the larger picture and work towards improving and increasing your metabolic rate to ensure it is at a healthy level before cutting calories.

My body dysmorphia is mostly centered around my center (lol) I know (and hate) that you can’t target fat loss (or gain Bc hey big boobs would be cool) and I feel like it’s the slowest to show change. I’m trying intuitive eating and not tracing macros right now Bc it will 100% lead me back to the ED behaviors I had last spring. Sorry but these are excuses!! Yes I said it! It’s amazing how we make time for certain things, but when it comes to our health we seem to have an excuse. When I lived in Atl I had a workout room. But here on the Island I have what ever space I can manage ( swipe to see my floor space this am). Do I miss my workout room? Instead, work on your deep core breathing and try these progressions instead. They go from easier to much more advanced. The abdominal wall needs time for rehab to restore its tension after being stretched during pregnancy. Diastasis recti is the condition of “over stretched connective tissue” - specifically the vertical mid line of your 6 pack muscle called your linea alba. 100% of women experience some degree of diastasis recti during pregnancy. The question is how much. Factors that determine the amount of abdominal “stretch” or “separation” are genetics, size and number of babies (mamas of multiples experience more stretch), length of mama’s torso, postural alignment during and after pregnancy and habits during pregnancy that increase intra abdominal pressure, like straining during bowel movements, poor breathing mechanics and incorrect exercise during pregnancy. Here are the progressions: 1) wall or crib incline plank 2) stability ball pulls 3) knee hovers 4) modified plank with knee taps 5) bird dog plank (this is crazy tough - only do this when your core is fully rehabbed!) . Confession, I haven’t been stretching as much lately. I’m usually rushing to get my workout in and can’t seem to make time to stretch. Today I lifted heavy and really felt that I needed to loosen up. I did tons of deadlifts, lunges, sumo squats, hip thrusts and kickbacks. I focused on stretching out the quads, hamstrings, glutes and inner and outer thighs. I like to mix up my leg days where some days are hiit and some days are heavier lifting. Something I noticed...in the area of the gym that’s predominantly for women, they don’t have any barbells that are heavier than 45 lbs. with women lifting heavier nowadays, it’s a bit small minded to assume they won’t lift more than that.

My go-to: at home dermaplane, 20 minute steamy shower, exfoliate & cleanse your face, wash your hair & shave your legs! Moisturize your face & body afterwards. Tell me after that 20 minutes you don’t feel like a goddess & feel better in general. As a result from those two things, you can better care for your kids & family. Take care of yourselves ladies; you can’t pour from an empty cup💕
