You can obviously do what you like (!) & it was actually in my pre & post natal training module that you can go ahead and start doing some stuff if you feel fine…..BUT I certainly won’t be doing any ‘exercise’ that isn’t walking or deep core strengthening until my doctor & women’s health physio checks. # It’s 6 weeks….it’s not long to wait and I’d rather give myself that proper time to ensure I don’t do any damage...instead of impatiently cracking on and setting myself back further. There’s a reason it’s 6 weeks! Apparently it takes approx 6 weeks for the vagina to fully heal, the cervix to close completely and for the uterus to return to it’s normal size. S T R E N G T H ? -And What Do The Pelvic Floor Muscles Have To Do With It?- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are a few things that come to mind when we hear the words core strength; 1) “Oh no, not core work. I hate core!” and 2) good core strength = strong abs and a six pack. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So let’s clear up a few things here. For starters, there’s much more to core work than just crunches, sit-ups and planks. I always ensure the core workouts I set my clients are informative, interesting and fun so there’s no reason for core workouts to be limited to doing hundreds of crunches. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Secondly, strong abs (or rectus abdominis, the six pack muscles) account for only a small part of our core muscles, so having a visible six pack doesn’t necessarily mean a strong core. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As well as the six pack muscles, our core also includes our diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles as well as all of the muscles that run from the spine, wrap around our sides and down into our pelvis... YES, you heard it, our pelvic floor muscles (in both men and women) are an integral part of our core. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Imagine your core to be like a cylindrical container; the deep abdominals are the sides that run from the back, around to the front, the diaphragm is the lid and the pelvic floor is the bottom of the cylinder holding up the weight of the contents of the container (uterus, bladder, bowel, etc.). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we exercise, especially core focused exercises, our core muscles need to work together in order to function to their maximum potential. This includes correctly activating the pelvic floor as part of core work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I run my core workouts at Strong Mums I always teach my clients how to engage their pelvic floor in time with breathing and deep abdominal activation. Today I meal prepped because I had today off of work. This week meal prep consist of veggie egg scramble, salad and my deconstructed enchilada. I made a little extra of the veggie scramble as I will be going to my parents’ house this weekend because of the Spartan Race on Sunday. I will be taking meals so I can stay on track the last few days of my Whole30. • Meal 1 consisted of 2 eggs, 2 slices of @whole30approved@pedersonsfarms bacon and fruit. • Meal 2 consisted of salad and some of my deconstructed enchiladas. • Meal 3 was simple and easy. I put 1lb of ground beef in the Instant Pot with Whole30 compliant spaghetti sauce. So, in order to get my head back in the game, I (along with my husband) am doing a 3 day cleanse to refresh and restart my system!! Today marks the end of Day 2 and I’m already feeling so much better!! This little girl right here, she is my true inspiration. Everyday the last week, she has come up to me and says “mamma, workout?” And literally gets so excited when I say “yes! Do you wanna workout out with me today?” And is with that cute little voice she blurts out “yeahhhh!” She is the reason I have committed to now 2 test groups, she reminds me everyday that we need to work out, and when she sees me struggle, she says “mommy, you ok?” And that is my reminder to get my ass up and keep going! Kid lifts (fondly called up&downs in our house) lie on your back with thighs perpendicular to the floor. Allow your kid to lay on you shins and raise them up and down as many times as their weight allows! 2. Kiddo-bell swings. Holding under their armpits imagine doing a kettlebell swing from squatting to standing while lifting them over your head. 3. Kiss ups. Allow your child to lay under you while you do push-ups over the them, kiss that sweet little one every time you lower. 4. Weighted alternating lunges. This is usually when we schedule in another nutrition session completely focused on vacation meal prep and planning for meal success. . . Last week I promised to share a few of my vacation-eating tips, so here are my top 3! 1️⃣Lay out your vacation schedule and prep healthy non-perishable snacks in advance for the times you're worried about not having healthy options. This way you're ahead of the game! 2️⃣If you're going to a hotel, don't go in with the mindset: "I need to eat everything or I won't get my money's worth." This is a recipe for an over-eating disaster. Instead think of it as: "I get unlimited salads that I don't have to prep myself!" For anyone working on building a healthy lifestyle and eating more veggies, this is a dream! Before taking the unhealthy options, fill your plate with salads and lean protein. This way you'll have less room for the junk. 3️⃣Don't let yourself get ravenous. This is when we over-eat and indulge in the wrong choices. Often our schedules are all over the place on vacation so we lose track of our regular eating times. Make sure to pack those healthy snacks and meals with you on day-trips and eat often! *️⃣EXTRA TIP: I always make sure to share this one with my clients: . . You're on vacation, so don't forget to ENJOY a little! Be OK with not eating perfectly on track. You're not completely in control if your meals the way you are at home, so you can't possibly beat yourself up about that. Who doesn’t love a good side by side #transformationtuesday ? - I started my fitness journey February 2018, 4 months after the birth of my 3rd child. During pregnancy I had gained ALOT of weight that I wasn’t used to, and was determined to do something about it. So, I started an Instagram account to keep myself accountable and started working out as often as I could. I found having a buddy as motivation helped to give me the push start that I really needed and now 11 months later and 15 months Postpartum, 35kgs down I am here. :) xx

Experienced severe pain at work yesterday and thank goodness I found a @fitpatch_sa in my desk drawer. Made such a huge difference and helped my get through my day at the office.💚🖤 . So the gorgeous @theyogipaige also came to the rescue with some stretching exercises to help me deal with the hip, pelvis and back pains I'm experiencing. I managed to push through to finish an upper body workout last night. Guys ... this was tough AF. Ive lost my strength and flexibility for sure but I shall persevere. 🧘‍♀️🖤 . 1 week down and 4 to go. I just need to tell myself daily that I got this
