Final day and oh what a day! Target was Roosters in the morning. Started catching Bonito for bait but couldn’t get the Bonito to the boy without the Roosters grabbing them. Had over 2 dozen Rooster bites on live bait and poppers. Around 1130 water changed and we pushed offshore. Raised 4 sails, hooked and released 1. Found a FAD, after a few passes had a wahoo. Put the plugs out and went another 6 for 7 on the wahoo to end the day! What an exclamation point to the fishing week!
Day 4. Started deep jigging, bigger grouper and red critters. Changed gears. Went to catch Bonito and went on the chunk. Dropped 2 Cubera’s, got 2 big Rainbow Runners. Went on tight to the island chunked and popped. Pargo’s, Yellowtrail Snapper, grouper, sharks all on light tackle. Trolled for billfish and other pelagics for a few hours and no love. Other boats had slow days with a red tide moving in. Stocked with fresh Bonito for bait for last day and have to decide what we are going to do.
Slow day for us after a long ride. Jumped off a 350lb Blue Marlin, couldn’t get the tuna to take anything. Switching to jigging and trolling plugs. Crevale Jacks, an African Pompano, snappers, groupers, triggerfish etc. but the jigging today brought smaller fish than yesterday. Finished day trolling deep on way home, no love. Other boats in lodge started to bring Sails to boat. 2 more days of fishing
Day 2. Went to Las Dronas to start off jigging Grouper. Found more and bigger ones. Tried for Red Snapper and then Wahoo, no luck. Lost a prop and started to troll home. Got a nice 25lish Mahi and had a Sailfish visit us. Trolled towards lodge and found a home made Fad, raised a Mahi and then the rat yellowfin crashed our teasers. Broke out the spinning gear and had fun with them and the Bonito. Luckily no damage to the shaft. Day 3 tomorrow. @sportfishingpanama
Kind of a slower day 1 than we are used to. Started the day with some deep drop jigging, went on the troll, saw some Sailfish but only jumped 1 off. Made a couple deep drops to end the day. Kept enough to feed the lodge though. Did see a school of rat yellowfins but left them alone. @sportfishingpanama
