Visual Effects, short stories in the film industry: First came the Apes, and a human named Charlie followed. Like most CGI migrant workers, Charlie, or Chuck for short, existed in ubiquitous anonymity. Hopping from rock to rock, scrounging for sustenance, spanning the globe looking to fill a monetary and moral currency, not unlike his early primate ancestors. The stalemate with his North American brothers consumed him as he stood battered at the the foothills of fame, not unlike Ham the chimp before he was shot into space on the head of a rocket. As the stalwart gates of ILM closed, another larger door opened in New Zealand. Behind those doors he plunged himself into a new society of hairy knuckles, complex behavior and a social order that required a lower level of social interaction and cultural adaptability. He still longed for those days of swinging effortlessly through the forest canopy, delusional visions of "sleepwalking through the Mekong" clouded his already pixel addled mind. Now...In cage #672 of the Weta digital gulag, he infected his fellow Gibbons, Lemurs and Silver backs with his marvelous charisma, his cinematic machismo. "Coffee Break gentlemen? Did you know they shot Battle L.A. in a 2 block radius of Santa Monica over a 2 week period?" A heavy sigh from, the room, the sound of banana peels dropping to the sawdust floor. The lonely creak of a tire swing floats softly in the background. 🎥 #hollywood#shortstories
@moviemountain The film is coming to life. Matt Emmonz @memmonz is a very crafty cinematographer. The move is plotted out with Kuper motion control and it doesn’t quite fit in the airlock so the set is designed to “break away” as the camera trucks through it. All choreographed and designed to fade the lights getting revealed as the set fades away. Movie magic is happening on “Wake me up When We get there” @fosterhunting ‘s film.
My, My, it’s been more then a fortnight since we heard from Sly. That Bear of Sly, his transcendent proclivity, back from his literary anonymity, his ego brighter then luma, just out of the bath like a shampooed Puma. Back for a limited time only. Enjoy, yours truly, Sly Bear.
