Have you ever woven on a backstrap loom? A student from #layabhutan tries Backstrap weaving for the first time at the #WeavingCentre in #rtabhutan during her Educational, Motivational, and Cultural tour. It is an easy effort as it seems and all of us can #PreserveAndPromoteTextileTraditions in Bhutan.

The amateur weavers begin their winter weaving program while at vacation. The second batch started their weaving training from the 11th January. The program aims to impart textile knowledge and art of weaving to the children who are the future of Bhutan, thereby preserving and promoting the textile tradition of Bhutan.
30 students visited RTA this morning and recited the prayers for good year 'Lolay' to mark the beginning of an auspicious year. They ushered in good and prosperous year 2019 for RTA through their verse....May the stable be filled with horses, Lolay, Lolay....May the shed be filled with cattle;...Lolay, Lolay..... To bring alive the dying culture of 'Lolay' and revitalize the vanishing tradition, the group is being organised by Folk Heritage Museum and goes around Thimphu reciting the verse of good wishes and prayers.
