Today 4 p.m., I'll be answering all questions about my character Blodwyn Biggar in the Fantasy and Sci-Fi Readers Lounge on Facebook. Thank you to Laura Daleo for organising this. Blodwyn is one of the main characters in the Dreams about Vampires Trilogy. #oc#fantasy#indiebooksbeseen#fantasybooks#horror#horrorbooks (Stock images found on pixabay and canva.)
It's time for more science and this time it's dinosaurs. Come and visit these two and more dinosaurs tomorrow at the @intutraffordcentre This is still a #authorsofinstagram account though, so here's a #writingprompt Write a scene starting with this: 'The last thing she heard, was the song of the raptor.' #qotd Can you guess what dinosaurs they are? #ScienceX#BSW#BSW2019#schleich@icalmanchester@UoMSciEng@UoMSEES@OfficialUoM
Cover Reveal! A chance encounter on a bench by the Thames leads physics student Rose Newton into a research world dominated by men. Still sceptical of sharing her work, Rose begins a collaboration with Dr. Quentin Reeve that could shake the foundations of reality as they know it. Will they succeed where many have failed before? The Hyperspace Hypothesis is coming soon! #coverreveal#newbooks#bookish#sciencefiction#scifi
Not having a bookshelf this year has been awkward and I might not get used to it until the end of the year. This #ShelfieSunday, I want to show you my popular science books (at least the few that I took to uni with me). 'Eine kleine Nachtphysik' by Wolfgang Rößler is still one of my favourite popular science books. I used to read it over and over again during my last years in secondary school. The notebook is my chemical notebook where I draw chemical structure. I can't remember where I got it, but it is one of my favourite notebooks. Writing wise, I am currently making revision notes for The Hyperspace Hypothesis. I am almost done with my work through and I can't wait for you all to see the cover next week. #popularscience#physics#chemistry#notebook#amreading#bookstagram
💚 #FebLitWrit19 Day 14 Happy Valentines Day! I'm not a fan of the concept of the day. While it amplifies love in the most capitalist way possible, it also amplifies loneliness. So, have a quote from Joe Hill's Heart-Shaped Box. I'm not doing anything Valentines today, just studying at home. It's palaeo-day #quoteoftheday#quote#joehill#heartshapedbox#studying#unilife. Sorry, for not posting yesterday. I was sick in bed and went to sleep before I could write the post. I'm hoping, I'll be fit enough to go back to writing by the end of the week.
Being ill sucks. I wanted to do some coding today, but I ended up not feeling too well and I'm going to a comedy show later which is probably going to be even more exhausting than sitting in a 4pm seminar. #FebLitWrit19 Day 12 OTP For The Hyperspace Hypothesis, my OTP are definitely Lizzie and Alastair, the characters I introduced to you earlier this month. Their little aesthetic is black and white because their relationship is terribly dysfunctional, but honestly, that's exactly the drama we all want. #amreading#amwriting#otp#couple#holdinghands#aesthetic
#FebLitWrit19 Day 11 Book and Beverage I was going to have a novel and a pint here, since I sometimes go to the Lass after meeting with our research collaborators, but I haven't been in a while. Instead, here a picture of the book that is probably going to save my semester. I took a cancer biology unit after some brilliant lectures on breast cancer metastasis and now I have to study hard since the molecular bases of cancer are amongst the things that I find difficult to remember. The coffee is a white chocolate mocha. I don't go to @cafe.nero often, but when I do I always get a white chocolate mocha. The lipstick is a @lorealmakeup one. It says it is kiss-proof, but I only care whether it is coffee proof. #amwriting The Hyperspace Hypothesis is going well. I got quite far yesterday in the library and I can't wait to show you all the cover on the 28th. #amreading#amstudying#cancer#genetics#research#womeninstem#science#sciencefiction#coffee
It's #ShelfieSunday Today, I'm working in the law library. It's not my favourite part of the library (that's the bit with the Genetics journals) and the sun is far too in my eyes, but I can't be bothered to move. #FebLitWrit19 is asking for a minor character, so meet Amber. I only wrote Amber as a filler character in the first edition, so that Rose could have a lab partner, but she's grown on me, so I might extend her role in the second edition and include her in the sequel. #qotd Do you ever get overly attached to minor characters? I got really attached to Mael from the Vampire Chronicles by @annericeauthor He is so underrated and the story with him and Jesse was the sweetest thing about the entire series. #amwriting#library#law#Mael#vampirechronicles#HyperspaceHypothesis
#FebLitWrit19 Day 9: Character's Pet I only realised it now, but there are no pets in The Hyperspace Hypothesis. Maybe, I'll give Quentin a hamster or something else that won't be too bothered with him being a workaholic. Since I can't give you a cute pet picture, here a minimalist aesthetic of Rose. The #Indieshoutouts are up on my website now. It's a gallery of one featured book per Indie author who I want to see known more. Find them here http://ow.ly/hXCS50l0821 #amwriting#indiebooksbeseen#sciencefiction#oc#coffee
Personally, I think there is beauty in equations. These are some that I wrote for my current research. #FebLitWrit19 Day 8 Villain There is no villain in The Hyperspace Hypothesis, at least no villain except hubris and that is something that every character faces. #science#sciencefiction#equations#amwriting#authorsofinstagram.
During The Hyperspace Hypothesis, Rose goes to a conference to present her research. Writing the conference in the first draft was one of my favourite things to do and I'm looking forward to extend it for the second one. #FebLitWrit19 Day 7 Mentor Rose doesn't really have a mentor. She and Quentin work as equals while the rest of the group relies on Rose more than she would like them to. #qotd Who is your favourite female SciFi character? #bookaesthetics#amwriting#wip#sciencefiction
#FebLitWrit19 Day 6 Side Character Introducing Quentin Reeve, the most important side character in The Hyperspace Hypothesis. He is a fan of The Holographic Principle and keeps on trying to include in in his research, even though the others of the group don't think it applies. #wip#sciencefiction#amwriting#characteraesthetics
#FebLitWrit Day 4: Main Character I'm super thrilled to tell you more about my current wip on my birthday. Sometimes, to rebrand a book you have to change the title. The second edition of Energy equals milk times coffee squared is going to be called The Hyperspace Hypothesis. However, I didn't change the name of the main character. Everybody, meet Rose Newton (or at least an unfinished drawing of her). #amwriting#amdrawing#HyperspaceHypothesis#wip#oc
#FebLitWrit19 Favourite Thriller Thrillers are one of the genres, I read most often and since late last year, I have started reading the rest of the Jo Nesbø ones. The book I'm working on right now, The Hyperspace Hypothesis (2nd edition of Energy equals milk times coffee squared) is a science thriller and I'm very happy to be back in the genre. I really needed that break from writing fantasy. #qotd What is your favourite thriller? #Thriller#JoNesbø#amreading#scandinavianthriller#bookstagram
#FebLitWrit19 Day 2: Underrated Villain Harvey Dent might not be the most impressive villain next to the Joker, but in my opinion he is by far one of the most underrated ones. Until today, Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth by @grant.morrison is still one of my favourite ever comic books. Especially, the scene As a writer, villains like Harvey Dent are the ones I aspire to write. They are the villains that kind of have a point, the ones that make the reader question their own morals. #qotd Who is your favourite villain? #Batman#TwoFace#Arkham#comics#amreading#amwriting
