Four Seasons in One Day. I’ll never forget the first time I visited Dove Lake in Tasmania. From the car park I could see a gradient of weather patterns, blue sky to one side, clouds to the other and heavy rain beside it. As I walked the Dove Lake Circuit each of these weather patterns blew over me. It reminded me a bit of life, sometimes it’s sunny and other times the gray clouds seem to be gathering. Then there’s those times where you find yourself in the pouring rain, knee deep in the muck. Thankfully every season has its end, and with the passage of time you can see the beauty in each of them. Sometimes I even think the rainy ones are the most beautiful, particularly when there’s a rainbow at the end😊 #bushwalk#bushwalking#dovelake#dovelakecradlemountain#cradlemountain#cradlemountainnationalpark#tasmaniaparks#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#cradlecoasttasmania#tasmaniasnorthwest#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

Cradle Mountain from the saddle between Mount Campbell and Hansons Peak. After our Tassie trip in winter last year I decided to start a blog about our travel experiences(http://www.travelwithpete.com). It’s something I have really enjoyed doing. To my surprise I was contacted by Bushwalk Australia magazine and my blog posts of the trip have been featured in one of the articles for their current edition (http://emag.bushwalk.com/BWA201902.pdf). I’m absolutely honoured to be featured in the magazine, it’s a fantastic resource for those interested in walking in Australia and beyond. Thanks Bushwalk Australia! 😊 #bushwalk#bushwalking#dovelake#dovelakecradlemountain#cradlemountain#cradlemountainnationalpark#tasmaniaparks#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#cradlecoasttasmania#tasmaniasnorthwest#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

The snow covered Pinnacle Track on Mt Wellington. I thought this was a fitting picture to post on the Australia Day public holiday. We’re in the middle of a heatwave in Queensland and the snow covered slopes of Mt Wellington sure look attractive right now. Speaking of which I just finished my last blog post in a series of posts on our trip to Tasmania last year. Even though it’s taken awhile I’ve really enjoyed the writing process and it’s definitely something I would like to continue doing in the future 😊 #mountwellington#mtwellington#mtwellingtontasmania#mtwellingtonnationalpark#snowinaustralia#hobart#discoverhobart#cradlecoasttasmania#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

Lone Rock Ridge as seen from the summit of Mt Amos. I’ve just finished adding another post to my blog about my experience climbing Mt Amos in winter last year. Suffice to say this walk taught me that your experiences in life should be what you make of them and not constrained by your expectation of what they should be like. I had a picture in my mind of what it should be like at the top of Mt Amos (sunny and blue) but when I got there it was cold, windy and rainy. Ironically enough it was only when I came to appreciate how beautiful it all was despite the weather that a break in the rain came. I had a 15 min window of sunny bliss, followed by terribly wet weather. What an adventure! And so much better than a constant blue sky day 😊

Dawn at Dove Lake. I often start a new year by reflecting on the year that has gone. One of my favourite memories from 2018 was watching the sunrise by the shore of Dove Lake. It was such a still and peaceful winter’s morning. However, my absolute highlight for 2018 was the recent birth of my son. He only arrived a little over a week ago but he has brought so much joy to my little family 😊 #tasmaniaparks#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#cradlecoasttasmania#tasmaniasnorthwest#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

Near the summit of Mt Sprent. I love surprises. One of the things that surprised me most when we travelled to Tasmania earlier in the year was the sheer amount of natural beauty throughout the entire state. One of my favourite places was Southwest National Park. It’s a place I’d never heard of before researching for our trip but now that I know about it I’ll definitely be returning. There are so many amazing walks in the area, The Needles, Mt Eliza, Mt Anne, Lake Judd, Mt Wedge, Sentinel Range, Mt Sprent, the Eastern and Western Arthurs and the list goes on. I think I’ll always have a soft spot for Mt Sprent though as it was my introduction to this amazing area 😊

Southwest National Park. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 4 months since our trip to Tasmania. Of all the places we have seen in Australia Tasmania is by far my favourite. For a small state it is jam packed with beautiful natural environments. This was taken from the highest point on the Gordon River Road in Southwest National Park. I’ll definitely be returning here some day 😊 #southwestnationalpark#tasmaniaparks#lovetasmania#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

I’ve decided to start a blog! The link is in my profile 😊After having travelled to a number of places in Australia and throughout the world one of the things I’ve always found super useful is blogs, especially when researching for a trip. I have found so much useful information and ideas from other people’s experiences and I thought maybe other people could learn from mine. I’ve actually been writing for a little while now but my first blog post was about the places I have enjoyed visiting the most, http://www.travelwithpete.com/ive-decided-to-start-a-blog/. The photo from this post is from one of those places, specifically the South Island of New Zealand. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to travel and I hope I can help others in the way I have been helped when planning their own adventures 😊 #tasmanglacier#NewZealand#NZ#NZMustDo#earthspirit#living_destinations#hiexplorer#earthvacations#imagineglobe#nationaldestination#awesomedreamplaces#creativeoptic#ipa_shotz#bigworld_shotz#wonderearthclub#best_earthscapes#earth_deluxe#moodygrams#awesome_globepix#top_world_shot#riyets#ig_fotografdiyari#igersmood#milliondollarvisuals#worldplaces#xtrmpic#MtCook#Aoraki#ChristchurchNZ

A path through the snow on Mt Wellington. On our last day in Tasmania I was treated to something really special, especially for someone who lives in Queensland, snow. It was the first time I had ever seen snow and I loved it! Especially walking through a forest of snow gums with views of Hobart through the trees. It was an amazing end to an amazing trip. I loved our time in Tasmania and it’s a place I would definitely like to return to many times in the future 😊 #mountwellington#mtwellington#mtwellingtontasmania#mtwellingtonnationalpark#snowinaustralia#hobart#discoverhobart#cradlecoasttasmania#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

A winter’s morning at Battery Point. On the last full day in Hobart we had a lazy morning at Battery Point. The area is full of historic buildings and on this particular day snow had fallen all over Mt Wellington. It felt like a white Christmas scene from the movies. #batterypoint#hobart#discoverhobart#cradlecoasttasmania#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

Wineglass Bay from Mt Amos. It’s been a while since my last post but unbelievably this picture was taken moments after the stormy picture in my previous post. One minute it was cloudy and raining and the next it was completely clear. I enjoyed this view for a good 10 minutes before heavy rain set in for the rest of the day. A view from a shelter in a storm on Mt Amos. The morning I drove to Freycinet and climbed Mt Amos was a strange morning. When I left Hobart it was cold and rainy but within 20 minutes of driving the rain cleared and I enjoyed the most spectacular sunrise. Pink hues filled the sky as the light softly danced over the hills and through the valleys. It was so beautiful, I couldn’t wait to start climbing Mt Amos. When I started the climb the weather was still beautiful. It was cold and very windy but I had clear blue skies. Then the weather slowly started to change and by the time I reached the top it was colder, windier and raining. I was completely exposed until I found this little nook to shelter in. I was so grateful to have found this little place where I could watch the storm clouds away from the wind and the cold and the rain. #mtamos#freycinet#freycinetnationalpark#tasmaniaparks#cradlecoasttasmania#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

Views of Mount Wellington from O’Grady’s Falls Track. One of the things I love about Australian alpine environments is the snow gums. They twist and gnarl in the most interesting shapes as they rise from the forest floor. From afar they appear as sharp strands of silver amongst a sea of green. To me they are so distinctly Australian, rugged yet beautiful. #ogradysfallstrack#hobart#discoverhobart#tasmaniaparks#mountwellingtonpark#mtwellingtonpark#cradlecoasttasmania#discovertasmania#seetasmania#tasmaniagram#tasmania#instatasmania#tasmaniawhyweloveit#tasmaniatrip#australiagram#australia#australia_shotz#australia_oz#discoveraustralia#olympusomd#olympusomdem5markii

The Cascade Brewery. On my way home from a walk to Secret Falls and Myrtle Gully Falls I had to stop and take a photo of this iconic brewery. Myrtle Gully Falls. As per my previous post this was the second waterfall that I visited when I had an hour to explore on one afternoon in Hobart. I can’t tell you how blown away I was to find two such beautiful waterfalls within such a short distance from the centre of a capital city. I only wish I had even more time to explore. Who knows what surprises await when you go exploring in Tasmania.
