Fraser (@lostgymcard) — Used to be fit, now 31 and very almost fat.
The aim is to lose 1 stone, and bring exercise back into my life, by September.

Yesterday was TOUGH. BoxFit class at 8 p.m. with Chris...wanted to stop so so many times. That guy kills it. Intense class. I've got weak shoulders and need someone to push me to a limit, and then push me some more. Rest day today, but are pretty well (4x eggs, rice & Quorn chicken) but a sneaky cider in the sun too.

Rest day because, well, I was shattered. Two eggs in the morning, polished off the Quorn leftovers for lunch and this bloody amazing healthy falafel wrap for dinner. Not sure how many calories in the day, but I'm hoping less than 2000. Aim for tomorrow is to hit the gym either in the morning or evening.

Surely must be fate that the day I start this account, I decide to pop in to the local charity shop on the way back from the run, instantly see this book (loved Born To Run when I was fit) and happen to be carrying £2 in my short pockets. Today was a great day. Body feels exhausted but in the best way possible. Smoothie and coffee post-run, some home made houmous and Quorn sausage for a snack, them polishing off last night's Quorn chilli (with a sneak wrap).

This week is the start. 2 runs of 4.2kms clocking in at 25 mins and 30 mins. Today, with beautiful London weather, my aim was 10kms, slow and steady. I really wanted to stop at 4 kms (which makes sense given the first two runs), and REALLY wanted to stop at 7.5kms. Pushed through with terrible technique to hit 10kms in 60 minutes. Very happy with that - the time is irrelevant but feels like a nice symmetry. After a little yoga cool down on the grass, I went to the gym to do 3x12 rowing (30kgs), 3x10 curls (10kgs each arm), a pathetic attempt at pull ups (none on the wide grip, 5 on the narrow), then 3x12 chest presses (40kgs total weight) #FitFam#runningman#fitsporation#weightlossjourney

Let's start at the beginning. I used to be fit, go to the gym three of four times a week, ran a marathon, had pretty good arms and not much of a belly. But that was four years ago. Then travel happened and I came back skinny but not strong. And then, for two years, I underwent that slow and steady transformation I used to mock my older brothers about. The transformation that lots of men I look at each day are going through. Your beer drinking, sandwiches and crisps for lunch, second helpings, weekend treats or cheeky takeaways start to stick around. Slowly, over months, you gain a little chubbiness in your cheeks and a good manly bulk. The heft might actually suit you. But then a year passes and that weight has stuck around. You resolve to do something about it and in fits and bursts, you do. But only for a couple of weeks...then you fall back into those same habits. The weight stays and grows. You have e to work harder to shift it, but you just can't do it in the long-term. And the cycle continues. And that's where I am today. Just a smidge over 11 stone (72kgs), and with a belly which looks at me with glee when I catch myself in a mirror when on a night out or pass a shop window. I've tried and failed at lots of efforts to get back on the fitness bandwagon, but I never stick with it. So, this account is to make me accountable. To track what I do and to keep me honest. To see what works and what doesn't. To see progress. I'm not going to do anything dramatic or new to shift this weight. I'm just going to stick with it, and keep on putting one foot in front of the other. Let's go. _ _ _ #FitFam#runningman#running#fitness#fitnessmotivation#fat#weightlossjourney#fitspo#fitsporation
