A realization I’ve increasingly felt but only recently channeled into concrete thoughts and words: so much of our lives and societies are based on *fear*. Is this is an already obvious thing to others? - I don’t mean the acutely physiological type of fear, but rather the non-boundaried fears x that dictate lives and decisions: what if I don’t get enough of x, what if I can’t achieve x, what if others have more of x than me, what if I miss out on x, what if I regret doing/not doing x, what if I get punished now/later for x, what if x happens to someone/something I love, what if x doesn’t want/love me, what if I fail at x… and so on and so on, all the terrifying x’s from high level societal constructs and institutions down to our daily life choices, relationships and goals. - Fear is such a tremendously motivating+paralyzing survival force and therefore an integral shaper of our species evolution and individual development. Ubiquitously so - what I’m seeing in a new way is how rare it is to make choices that are truly free of fear. But when it does happen, when something is chosen/created with whatever you feel is the opposite of fear - courage/freedom/love/joy - those are the choices and turning points that lead to the biggest changes and shine the brightest in illuminating your past and future. Remember those moments in your life? - What if we did more of that, what if we live with less fear? Learn to recognize and minimize fear in decision making = gaining more true agency? - Although I’m generally not the new year’s resolutions type of person, all of this rambling is to say - if I had to formulate a resolution, it’s that I resolve to try and exclude as much fear as possible in making choices. Because I’m certain fears are weights, and we’ll fly higher with unweighted wings. - recent tb photo by @anthonytori#sedona#arizonahiking#arizonacollective#hikearizona#wondermore#wandermore#wandertheworld#exploretheworld#earthoutdoors#amongthewild#vanlifeexplorers#vanlifediaries#nomadstories

Morning tea on the porch ☕️ Most of us have certain routines that bring a comfortable and perhaps necessary structure to our days. I’ve found this to be especially important while living on the road, when my location and so many other things are in flux. An essential routine for me: 🍵 morning tea (Japanese green or English breakfast) 🎶 listening to music/podcasts (recently Emancipator or NPR news or a science podcast) ☀️ sitting at my door-porch especially if it’s sunny, checking out the neighborhood views - #homeiswhereyouparkit#vanlife#rvlife#tinyhouse#vanlifeexplorers#vanlifestyle#vanlifediaries#vanlifejournal#vanlifeadventures#vangirls#vanlifeproject#wandermore#wandertheworld#exploretheworld#nomadic#nomadstories#tinyliving

my usual flareface 😁🐥 (jk I mostly look like a grumpy angrybird when landing even though I’m almost always stoked post-jump) - This is an old photo I came across [thanks to @raymondadamsimagery for the great sunset shot]. It captures a current sentiment: I’ve been really happy getting back into the sky after having not wingsuited for a while. No matter how long in between, it always feels natural flying again. Like riding a bike, or maybe breathing… wings are a part of me, whether I’m wearing/dangling from them or not 🐥💛 - And yes this is my pokémon pikachu cosplay wingsuit ⚡️ (Tony RBird Pro, thanks to the one and only Moe Viletto) - #gottacatchthemall#flylikepikachu#wingsuit#wingsuiting#skydive#skydiving#sundress

Feeling so much gratitude for the past year, so much anticipation for the new year. The gratitude runs especially deep. There were many highs and lows, literally and figuratively; there were lessons earned and learned. But what truly stands out are the moments of magic: clarity-acceptance-beauty-gratitude so profound it flooded over my walls, overfilled my heart, leaked out of my eyes ❤︎ Here’s to another spin around our star, may it bring more such lessons and moments to all of us. “To be prepared *against* surprise is to be trained. To be prepared *for* surprise is to be educated. Education discovers an increasing richness in the past, because it sees what is unfinished there. Training regards the past as finished and the future as to be finished. Education leads toward a continuing self-discovery; training leads toward a final self-definition. Training repeats a completed past in the future. Education continues an unfinished past into the future.” - Finite and Infinite Games by James Carse . This is a unique book I’m currently reading, filled with such interesting conceptualizations and re-definitions. Highly recommended, for words and ideas that seem poetically simple at first, but that linger and prod… . I particularly love this quote, for this time, this ending of the year and our reflections. Looking back, appreciating the present, looking forward - here’s to continuing the education of life . #homeiswhereyouparkit#doorviews#vanlife#rvlife#tinyhouse#vanlifeexplorers#vanlifestyle#vanlifediaries#vanlifejournal#vanlifeadventures#vangirls#vanlifeproject#wandermore#wandertheworld#exploretheworld#sheexplores#nomadic#nomadstories

Walking through a 🔥 wonderland ✨ I had been thinking this is my first time traveling in Arizona but remembered that Page is part of the state (and not UT). So here’s a tb to swinging through the Page area a year ago, exploring amazing slot canyons. As a full-time nomad, I get asked a simple question all the time - “where are you from”? And somehow, even after years of living on the road, I still often pause, confounded, running through all the possible answers in my head: where I was born? my ethnicity? where I grew up? where I lived the longest as an adult? where I lived right before I moved into my rv? where I just came from before this current location? … All of those answers are very different, very far apart, in physical locations but even more so, mental locations. The places themselves are rarely significant on their own; it’s what we did while we were there, the associated personal development, emotions and decisions. Mine seem to have a wide variation, with many significant places, memories, chapters to pick from... so maybe I hesitate b/ I think it’s extra important to pick the right answer, the right *from* to indicate the right *me*? - Nah that’s just my overthinking, trying to oversimplify for a simple-but-not question. All of those from’s and all of those me’s are no more or less right. I’m from all of it, and all of it made me who/where I am right now. - But all that is certainly not a good reply to give to someone I just met. I still don’t have an obvious or concise answer beyond “I live in a rv and move around a lot”. So I’ll probably still pause a bit when asked this question, depending on the context and who’s asking. - Our from’s do define us in many ways and shape how others view us initially - that’s why we ask each other this question when we meet. Having no main from-location might make me harder to pinpoint and define; but I increasingly appreciate this feeling that I am a product of many from’s + all the places, people, memories and lessons that connect them. - And to partially answer the question, at least a more commonly intended variation of it - I lived in Boston right before I moved into my rv 🚐 photo by @anthonytori - #notwhereyouarefrom#butwhereyouaregoing#nomadlife#hikingadventure#arizonahiking#sedona#homeiswhereyouparkit#vanlife#rvlife#vanlifeexplorers#vanlifestyle#vanlifediaries#vanlifejournal#vanlifeadventures#vangirls#vanlifeproject#hikearizona

Oh just stepping out of the house for a casual hike 💁🏻‍♀️ Yea jk- it was freezing on top of a windy canyon but so worth it playing dress up with photographer friend @anthonytori in a beautiful place. Also this was the first time I’ve worn non-legging/non-hiking/non-wingsuit stuff in… I can’t even remember how long now. It’s interesting how things like that can change so much as you go through life- I grew up a wild tomboy kid, hating all things girly; then became a city girl and really into shoes/purses/clothing; and now I’m back on the tomboy-dirtbag side of things again. But it sure is fun shaking the dirt off the feathers every now and then 🕊 - #vanlifecasualwear#homeiswhereyouparkit#doorviews#vanlife#rvlife#tinyhouse#vanlifeexplorers#vanlifestyle#vanlifediaries#vanlifejournal#vanlifeadventures#vangirls#vanlifeproject#beutahful

One of the best parts about being a nomad - you’re homeless but also not at all because so many places can feel like *home* ❤️🏜 I was prev here almost exactly one year ago. This front yard is still one of my favorites. For me, “home” is more of a feeling, a state of mind rather than a physical location. So coming back to this place (among many others) evokes a sense of coming home: a mix of familiarity, nostalgia, comfort, belonging = a place that somehow always *fits*. - #homeiswheretheheartis#homeiswhereyouparkit#doorviews#vanlife#rvlife#tinyhouse#vanlifeexplorers#vanlifestyle#vanlifediaries#vanlifejournal#vanlifeadventures#vangirls#vanlifeproject#utahgram

A Wingsuit Wednesday pic because it’s been a while, and I really really miss flying. So here’s another very pretty white dress of mine. 🕊 It’s interesting to look back and see how priorities continually shift in life. When I first started nomading, it was with a singular focus on earning and growing my wings. There is something special in that kind of enthralling obsessive passion, and I’m happy I had that experience. I still love wingsuiting as much as back then, but it is in a less consuming way. - And that has been a very good shift for me - I don’t want to be consumed, and my life-ing is more sustainable with balance. New passions, projects and ideas are allowed room to grow, and more potential paths open up. My analogy: like ecological biodiversity - where the natural environment and its resources dictate how ecosystems and species develop - so too our mental topography and available emotional resources shape how new ideas, connections and interests grow/speciate. - I’m feeling much more balanced these days, and/because I’m excited about so many things! But also - hot damnnnn it’s time to get back into the sky 💃🏻 - 📷 @wangsuitwes (almost didn’t know who to cred for the capture, until I found the orig vid and saw the hair whip into view 😄❤️) - #balance#soar#wingsuit#wingsuiting#skydiving#flying#sundress

Zooming round and round ☀️
Our star that we call the sun is over 4 billion years
Zooming round and round ☀️ Our star that we call the sun is over 4 billion years old and will continue burning in its current phase for another ~5 billion years before increasing immensely in brightness as it turns into a red giant -> a massive titan that will be ~200x bigger than it is today, devouring planets including Earth in its expansion. 🌟 Our very own star, creator and destroyer = just one out of 100-400 billion stars in our Milky Way galaxy = just one out of ~hundreds of billions to trillions of galaxies in the observable universe that has existed for 13+ billion years [ = just one of an indeterminable quantity of possibilities/simulations/universes...?] … So it’s all a matter of scale. My own decision: learn to be fluid in the scaling of my perspective. Revel in the absolute tininess of my existence because I find it to be an overwhelmingly beautiful and freeing thing. It compels me to live bigger, be more, reach higher, love harder. If we are oh so temporary sparks of awareness, literally made of starstuff, floating along an impartial canvas… then we might as well be the brightest ones we can possibly be while we have the light. - PS.
