Kyle Kotajarvi (@kylekotajarvi) — trying to capture a feeling
Things often don’t go as planned in the backcountry, and this day was no different. No, we didn’t plan for the insane bushwhack, snakes, or incoming clouds obscuring our view for the better part of the trip. That being said, we also didn’t plan for possibly the most beautiful blue hour inversion I’ve ever seen. No expectations are the best expectations ⛰🌧🙏🏻 - Thanks for helping with this one @matthewhahnel. Glad we got a liter of wild berries out of this mess.
“To be lost is such a wild feeling” - I had this thought earlier this year, thousands of miles away from home, as I sat alone in a fast food restaurant having not the greatest time. It was certainly an empty feeling. I was “living the dream”. I had quit my job a month earlier to pursue what I loved, had a handful of amazing clients already, and was exploring places I’d always wanted to see. Yet, I felt further away from having any semblance of direction than ever before. I’ve come a long way since that McFlurry pity party. Not in the sense that I have any idea what’s going on still, but I’ve come to know this: Life is full of strange roads - some ending with disappointment, others with a surprising light. It really isn’t about the final destination. It’s about accepting that we’re all lost, and that our greatest journey is just choosing to go. Thank you @jeep for letting me travel these strange roads with you. It means the world. #jeep#jeepambassador#ad
Got to work on my Chaco tanline yesterday while swimming in my favorite Washington lake. I've been conceptualizing these images for the past month, and I'm so thankful for @backcountry for supporting this idea. Wearing @chacofootwear and my favorite @patagonia baggies ✌🏻 Use code “KYLE15” for 15% off your first purchase at Backcountry.com (exclusions apply) #findyourbackcountry#sponsored
