At the end of a beautiful boat ride along Ngo Dong River in Tam Coc Vietnam, there are boats of local women waiting to ambush you, selling all things from fruit to cans of coke 🍊🍌🍉🥭🍍⠀ ⠀ If you’re ever in Hanoi, I definitely recommend heading to Tam Coc in the Ninh Binh province and checking out the incredible scenery 🍃💧⛰⠀ ⠀ ⠀ .⠀ ⠀ .⠀ ⠀ .⠀ ⠀ #placesoftheworld#quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#instatraveller#wanderlustlife#katsfootsteps#femaletravelbloggers#postcardplaces#creativewanderers#cooltravelpix#travelpassion⠀#lostintheworld⠀#discoverunder5k⠀#adventureawaits#getoutandexplore#adventureaddict⠀#travelsolo#solotraveller#SoFeTravel⠀#femaletravel#thetravellersfemale#sheisnotlost#vietnamwonders#explorevietnam#everydayvietnam#tamcoc#ninhbinh

New post and video are finally here! 🙌🏻 Sorry for the delay, my laptop had a meltdown and then my brain had a meltdown 😂⠀ ⠀ Links are in my bio! They’re both about one of my favourite places in the world 🌿💧⠀ A lot of backpackers don’t mention Phong Nha, but it’s such an incredible area in rural Vietnam full of hikes, caving and awesome adventures!⠀ If you ever visit Vietnam, definitely head to Phong Nha National Park @visitphongnha⠀ ⠀ Have any of you been before? What did you enjoy the most?⠀ For me, it was definitely the caves! I can’t wait to go back one day and explore more 👣⠀ ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ @vietnamtravelings@vietnamtourismboard#placesoftheworld#quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#instatraveller#wanderlustlife#katsfootsteps#femaletravelbloggers#discoverunder5k⠀#adventureawaits#getoutandexplore#travelsolo#solotraveller#SoFeTravel⠀#femaletravel#thetravellersfemale#sheisnotlost#GoPro#uniladadventure#vietnamwonders#explorevietnam#everydayvietnam#phongnha#centralvietnam#southeastasiabackpacker

Well my new blog post and video are going to be a bit late due to technical difficulties 🎥👩🏻‍💻🤯 But in the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of what they’ll be about! The main reason I wanted to visit Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was because of the AMAZING cave systems there! ✨ Ever heard of Hang Sơn Đoòng? The cave so large it has its own ecosystem inside?! Well that’s in Phong Nha, central Vietnam. While I wasn’t able to visit that exact cave (spots are very limited) the area is still full of other amazing caves you can visit! They range from easy day trips, like the photos above of Phong Nha cave, to multi day treks inside the caves themselves! 👣 I had the chance to visit a few incredible caves while I was there, but can’t wait to go back one day and explore more! Next time will definitely be doing some camping in the caves! 🙌🏻👣⛺️ What have been some incredible caves you’ve visited around the world? . . . . . . #naturalwonder#lostintheworld#caves#placesoftheworld#quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#instatraveller#wanderlustlife#katsfootsteps#femaletravelbloggers#adventureawaits#getoutandexplore#adventureaddict#travelsolo#solotraveller#naturephotography#discover_earth#vietnamwonders#explorevietnam#everydayvietnam#phongnha#centralvietnam#SoFeTravel#femaletravel#thetravellersfemale#sheisnotlost

And time for the finale! 🙌🏻⠀ ⠀ But not before I obsess over how CUTE these baby meerkats were, climbing into the actual cup just to check if there were any snacks left 😂🐛🦗⠀ ⠀ I’ve also just posted a new blog and video! 👩🏻‍💻🎥 Both are based around how to make a plastic free switch and what products I’ve loved (and hated) so far! 🌱🌺💧⠀ ⠀ Anyway, PART 3!⠀ So I was heading to Japan for the 2nd time with my two younger sisters in tow! 🌸👘🏯⛩⠀ It was definitely a different experience travelling with family to say the least 😂 It was horrible at times, we fought, I was frustrated, they were annoying pains in the arses, but we also had some amazing times and eventually figured out how to travel together!⠀ ⠀ After we got back, I had about a month before I had to head to uni for my new degree! I spent that time celebrating my birthday, camping and trying to get myself sorted! Going to uni was the hardest part, because I live about 5 hours away and couldn’t afford to live in Sydney. Instead, I stayed in hostels in the city when I had classes, which wasn’t too bad as they were really cool space capsule rooms 💫⠀ ⠀ So yeah, I did that for the semester which was honestly pretty exhausting, but I passed everything! Yayyy⠀ During that time I also started volunteering to help out a PhD student with her research on microplastic in the marine food web!⠀ ⠀ Currently, I’m volunteering at a shark and ray centre 🦈 which I absolutely love! It’s really based around conservation and education of these amazing species and I spend time with sharks and rays circling me each week 💙💙💙⠀ I’ve also been offered a degree in Marine Science through an online course which is going to make life a lot easier! ⠀ ⠀ I’m going to be posting new blogs and videos each week so keep watching this space! I promise my posts here won’t be as long now 😂⠀ ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ ⠀ #quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#katsfootsteps#femaletravelbloggers#meerkats#volunteerlife#youtubevlogger

PART 2 coming atcha! 💥⠀ ⠀ Before we get into that, I’ve posted my first vlog! 🎥😱 Check out my YouTube, link is in my bio ⬆️ Also, be kind! I need to upgrade my camera and this is my first time actually speaking to the camera! Feel free to leave some feedback! ☺️⠀ ⠀ Anyway, time for monkeys! 🐵🐵🐵⠀ ⠀ After spending all my money in Europe, I soon realised I needed a job! I really didn’t want to go back into the real world (who does!) so I thought I’d become my own boss! Within 1 month I’d launched @footstepsmedia 👣 designing websites and creating brands for some incredible clients!⠀ Because I’d dropped out of the degree (#Zoology) I wanted to do from work, I decided to take it up again! I enrolled and was accepted in at another university in Sydney. Lucky I didn’t have to do much for the first semester (👍🏻 for credits) so I focused on my business and decided to start volunteering!!⠀ Any guesses where I volunteered? I think it’s pretty obvious by now 😂🐒🦁🐨🦉Btw the little guys in this pic are #marmosets!⠀ It was such an amazing experience to work with wild animals at a local zoo. Feeding and playing with #meerkats, staring into a #cheetahs eyes and walking around with a #koala clinging to me are things I will definitely not forget. Don’t get me wrong, it was hard, shitty (literally 💩) work, and I appreciate everything I learnt there and the keepers that helped me. But as someone who doesn’t really enjoy animals in captivity I just couldn’t shake the unhappiness I felt seeing them in cages much too small. It was clear the keepers loved them and cared for them as much they could, but I quickly realised I was right in thinking I didn’t want to be a zoo keeper. So with a trip to Japan coming up I left my position there, sadly leaving the animals behind but filled with new skills, knowledge and determination! 🙌🏻 #muchknowledgesuchwisdom⠀ ⠀ PART 3 will be coming in with a new blog post and explain what the hell I’m doing now!⠀ ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ ⠀ #placesoftheworld#quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#wanderlustlife#katsfootsteps#femaletravelbloggers#creativewanderers#travelpassion#adventureawaits#getoutandexplore#sheisnotlost#girlbosslife#entrepreneursofinstagram

Like I promised, I’ve started blogging again! 🎉 You can check out my new blog post explaining why I haven’t written in so long by following the link in my bio ⬆️⠀ ⠀ 🐒 (not a meerkat but close enough) I had these little guys climbing all over me, acting like they’ve never been fed before! 😂⠀ ⠀ You’ll find out about why I have this cute pic in PART 2⠀ ⠀ But to begin at the start: PART 1⠀ This whole thing happened back in 2017 when I first started my blog. I used it as a creative outlet while working a job I really didn’t enjoy 👎🏻 I realised the 9-5 corporate life just wasn’t for me and I eventually quit! I’ve mentioned this before, but in the same week I told my boss I was leaving I also bought a BUS 🚌 and booked flights to Japan 🇯🇵⠀ This probably wasn’t the smartest decision when leaving a job, but alas- I just didn’t give a fuck 🤷🏻‍♀️⠀ After quitting, on Boxing Day I flew to Europe! ✈️ Yeah, in the middle of winter 🥶 It was such an incredible time and even though I spent almost all my money, I don’t regret it at all!⠀ But because of this and just feeling overwhelmed, I fell behind on my blog and stopped posting 😭⠀ As you know, I’ve finally started again and am so excited to be creating new content! 💙🎥📝⠀ ⠀ The pic above will be explained in PART 3 😉🐨🦁🐵⠀ ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #placesoftheworld#quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#instatraveller#wanderlustlife#katsfootsteps#femaletravelbloggers#postcardplaces#creativewanderers#cooltravelpix#travelpassion⠀#adventureawaits#getoutandexplore#adventureaddict#meerkats

This year I visited over 10 new countries, revisited 2 countries but still explored new places, travelled with friends and family, met new amazing people (and animals 🦌) played in snow for the first time, relaxed in hot springs in European winter, trekked into an actual bat cave, ate new delicious (and some not so delicious 🐌) foods, explored ancient ruins and old castles and experienced different cultures in modern cities! . I also started my own business, am studying again (Marine Biology) have volunteered with different organisations (current one is my favourite 🦈) and so much more! #BringOn2019! . I’m also starting up my blog again in the New Year so keep an eye out for more details and stories of what I’ve been up to! . . . #travelblogger#traveldiary#quitworkgotravel#aussietraveller#globetrotter#travellife#travelphotography#wanderlust#wanderer#femaletravel#katsfootsteps#exploreeurope#JapanRoomFinder#traveljapan#japangram#newyearvibes#europe_vacations#topeuropephotos

Today we’re saying goodbye to a shipwright, an artist, a gardener, a man of many trades and skills, a devoted husband, loving father, an incredible grandad Thank you for making my childhood so much more special... Taking us out fishing on the lake in your little dingy, carving us wooden toys, always encouraging us and being so excited to see what we drew or painted next, and for pretending we fooled you into thinking the ice cream truck was coming every time we rang that little bell outside the house You’ve given me some of my happiest childhood memories Gone, but never forgotten ❤️

One thing I love about Kyoto is that even though it’s one of Japan’s largest cities, you can always find remnants of the past. Among the traffic, shopping arcades and high rises, there’s plenty of green space and beautiful shrines and temples dotted around 🌿⛩ It’s also super cool to see so many Japanese people dressing up in traditional clothing to visit these places! 👘

My time in Miyajima has come to an end 😔 I could’ve easily stayed here for weeks! Even though it’s a small island, there is just sooo much natural and traditional beauty ⛰⛩🦌 This is a place I will definitely come back to! Also the guest house we stayed in was amazing! Incredibly beautiful place: everything was traditional Japanese (apart from ammenities), the owners/staff were so friendly, they made sure we had a great experience which included all these little crafts like origami folding, and then best of all, when they saw us taking pictures of the raccoon dogs outside they offered to let us feed them! 🙌🏻😁🐶 Have you ever travelled somewhere you’ve fallen in love with on the first day?? ✈️❤️

This was my second time visiting the Peace Park in Hiroshima, and probably not my last... My own grandma was going to travel in to Hiroshima around this time, but missed her train and decided not to go. Instead, she witnessed the blast that took so many lives from a safe distance in her hometown Kure. It’s crazy to think that if she had decided to go in, I wouldn’t be here, and crazy that so many others aren’t because it was decided to use nuclear weapons in war. #nomorehiroshimas

“We dedicate this bell As a symbol of Hiroshima Aspiration: Let all nuclear arms and wars be gone, and the nations live in true peace! May it ring to all corners of the earth to meet the ear of every man, for in it throb and palpitate the hearts of its peace-loving donors. So may you, too, friends, Step forward and toll this bell for peace!” 🕊🕊🕊 #nomorehiroshimas
