Jekyll Island ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Georgia state’s smallest barrier island—is a narrow sediment deposit that runs along the coastline. The unique geography of Jekyll Island has given rise to a lovely and surreal beach that doubles as a graveyard for trees. Gnarly pine and oak trees litter a desolate beach, standing like twisted sculptures in front of a picturesque coast. This is a must see if you’re ever visiting the area. Taken earlier this year when me and my friend @james_d_sanders went for an all-nighter to catch the Milky Way with these beautiful old trees. Definitely going back next year! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Single exposure shot with Nikon D850 and Nikkor 14-24mm. 15 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 4000, 20mm. Edited in camera raw and photoshop.
Arch Rock ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was a crazy cool night. I actually wanted to shoot this spot four days earlier when I was here but because of the moon rising, I only had time to shoot one spot. So, I decided to drive three hours from San Diego again just to get this shot. As soon as I sat under the arch and stared up at the sky, I knew exactly the perspective I wanted. I was there well before sunset so explored the area and got set up right before blue hour ended. I shot about 30 shots from end of blue hour, all the way to pitch dark. Ended up doing a stacked blend. 18 shots for sky and two single, manually focus stacked images for foreground. Tripod stayed in same position for all shots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍: Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, CA ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24. Palau Batu Berlayar ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This small little Island (named Sailing Rock) is right off the shores of Bangka Belitung Island. Surrounded by white sands and crystal clear water, it’s a favorite for tourists because of the beautiful surroundings and huge granite rocks that rise out of the sand. At night however, we had it all to ourselves. I posted another one from here before, but this one is just a little different. Such dark skies and so lucky with the weather. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24mm. 12 shot stack. 25 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 6400, 14mm. Edited in Camera Raw and Photoshop.
Joshua Tree National Park ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Before the moon rose and the light pollution got even worse, I pulled over and ran out into the desert to get a shot of a Joshua Tree with the Milky Way. With not much time to find a good composition, this is what I was able to capture. I really love how challenging the edits on these night images are and that not one of them is exactly the same. I have a bunch of new ones I’ve been working on with different looks, so will be posting all MW images over the next few days. Let me hear your feedback! 🤙🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24mm. Five image stack- 25 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 5000, 14mm. Edited in Camera Raw and Photoshop.
Joshua Tree Light Show ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even as dark as it gets out here, there is still quite a bit of light pollution. I like the light it gives but you definitely lose a lot of detail in the Milky Way. Awesome place to shoot nonetheless. Set the camera for a 9 shot sequence then ran to that spot in the core to catch a good silhouette. 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍: Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, California ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24mm. 9 image stack. 25 sec at f/2.8, ISO 6400, 14mm. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving however you decide to celebrate it, and no matter where you are in the world! 😊 We had shrimp tacos 🌮 and Spanish rice.😋 Ok, and some wine!🍷 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #thanksgiving#happythanksgivng#lovefamily#friendsgiving ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍: Borobudur Temple, Jogjakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Vøringsfossen ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With a total fall of 182 meters, this waterfall in the middle of Norway is an awesome view, whether from the viewing platform above, or the hour or so hike to this spot. This was taken in June so the wild flowers were in full bloom. 😊 Such am amazing place and can’t wait to go back!
Cholla Cactus Garden 3 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Taken last month in Joshua Tree National Park. This one was an experiment to try something different with my night photography. Always learning by mistakes. 😊 Shot the foreground at blue hour focused on front cactus arm at f/2.8 to get the super bokeh faded to background. Took the sky shot about an hour later in same location. Blended the two together and blurred sky to match rest of image for the look I wanted. Always playing with different techniques will definitely teach you what works and what doesn’t. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24mm. Foreground settings- 1/400 sec at f/2.8, ISO 64, 14mm. Sky settings- 25 sec at f/2.8, ISO 6400, 14mm. Blended and edited in Camera Raw and Photoshop.
This was definitely a big highlight of my Norway trip back in June. As I’m still going through my pictures from here, I had to share this beautiful place! If you’re ever up in Odda to do the Trolltunga hike, you definitely need to check this one out. A little further North in Kinsarvik you will find this amazing hike. Four total waterfalls along this trail that will totally blow you away. By far some of the most amazing scenery I’ve seen! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍: Søtefossen- Hardangervidda National Park ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In frame: My brutha @tkope3 🤙🏽👊🏽
Dedicated to Mom ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away. ~ by D. M. Garcia ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To one of the most caring souls, hardest working, and strongest women I’ve ever known. She fought her entire life to give us kids a good life and always taught us to be kind and work hard to achieve our goals. I took this picture of my mom back in May of this year doing exactly what she loved....walking her dog on the beach, wind in her hair, and sun warming her sweet face. 😊 Had to get this out as there is not a day that goes by where I don’t think of her and I know that will never stop. I will always remember her this way and will continue to make her proud and let her live through me! Love you and RIP! 🙏🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #loveyoumom#restinpeace#neverforgotten#familyfirst
Scorpius ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being in Borrego Springs I knew I had to get a shot of the Milky Way with this huge scorpion structure. I got a bunch of different shots all around it but wanted to get something a little different, so I proceeded to climb up on top of it with tripod and camera in hand, trying not to fall. Once on top, I got as far underneath the stinger as I could and aimed my camera straight up at stinger with the wide-angle 14 - 24 mm lens. Once settled in and taking some pics, I realized that the whole thing was swaying back and forth just a little bit because of the wind, so I just kept taking shots until I was able to get one that was somewhat clear. The light pollution was coming from the town of Borrego Springs, so I cropped it out to give it a little different look. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍: Borrego Springs, CA ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24mm. Clark Dry Lake ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While in San Diego, I knew I had to get out to Borrego Springs to get some night shots, especially after seeing so many different beautiful Milky Way images from there. Skies remained clear and all I had to do was find the right compositions. After scoping out a few spots, I didn’t even know about this dry lake bed until the awesome and talented @bellariana 😊🙏🏼 Informed me that it was here. Thank you so much for sharing!! After getting this shot, I jumped back in the rental and “drove it like I stole it” (through some sketchy dirt roads in pure darkness) 😂 to the other locations I had mapped out. This late in the season I had to move quick. In all, it was a pretty successful night even with less than a couple hours to shoot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Borrego Springs, CA. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: Nikon D850 paired with Nikkor 14-24mm. 18 image stack. 25 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 6400, 14mm.
