After a weeks of planning from my good friends at @fourtrees_portugal (they host conscious retreats in Portugal, they’re awesome, but that’s for another post😉) we were able to enter this cave before anyone one else. Calling it unique is an understatement, one of the most photogenic beaches I’ve ever been too. And when I got home, I realized I shot every single photo in JPEG 😂😭 (in the photography world that’s equivalent too finding a sunken pirate ship with chests of gold coins.... only to be discovered all the gold coins were plastic replicas.) I had a moment of frustration, then realized how dumb I was for letting myself being frustrated over that. I had just gotten to experience one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been too, and got to share it with some pretty cool people. Hey @jay_normals_world , who ordered the Irish coffee?🤓

A beach somewhere in Sumba ☀🌴 One of my favorite things to do while traveling is getting off the beaten path and get to lesser known places. It felt like everywhere I went in Sumba was wild. From the insane cliffs to the hidden beaches. While I was there I got to play around with the brand new OnePlus 7 Pro. Felt like I used it for photos more than my actual camera haha #ShotonOnePlus#OnePlusPartner

A clear visual definition, what I long for. But what would that say about my trust if I admitted that? The worry about what I may lack tomorrow made me forget about what I have today. A blurry image is all I see. But as the sun starts to shine things become more in focus. Staring at the sunrise and forgetting tomorrow, finding peace in the beauty that is today. After all, tomorrow doesn’t even exist. Today I am alive and today I choose to do good things. @indtravel#wonderfulindonesia

I used to spend a lot of time in the ocean. It was where I would get away. I’ve never been one to take time to meditate, but I would so often find myself in a meditative state in the water. The past few weeks I’ve been getting back under the surface quite a bit, connecting again with that meditative state that I had almost forgotten. @indtravel#wonderfulindonesia

The area produces a red coral that, when combined with white sand, creates the soft pink pigment that we see. This pink sand in turn attracts me. And the beach also makes me pink. Coincidence? I think not. @indtravel#wonderfulindonesia

During our trip to Derawan there was freak winds that didn’t allow us to travel the open ocean and get to our planned destinations. So we looked at a map and saw this section of ocean that was connected to our island and it was riddled with sand bars. We decided to make a day out of it. Derawan never ceases to amaze me. If you’ve been following my journey you’ll know I did this excursion to Derewan with @hvtrip . I’m not doing these posts for them out of requirements or sponsorships, they genuinely just made the trip so much fun and I want to share them with you. If my images have given you any desire to visit Derewan, you know who to call😉

The Ancient temples of Yogyakarta. Currently 87% of Indonesian people identify themselves as Muslim. But Islam was only introduced into Indonesia around the 13th century. Long before Islam arrived Hindus and Buddhists had built empires on the islands. The remnants of their empires are still visible today with temples like this one pictured, which is about 1200 years old and is located in Java. Currently Bali is the last remaining Hindu island. We arrived early in the morning while Mt. Merapi was still visible in the morning light, towering above everything around. I tried running around trying to fit the mountain into the background but had no luck as the sun quickly was rising. To best describe what I was seeing, I sufficed for a composite, two images taken within 5 seconds of each other. Both shot at 300m

We dove until I almost passed out from being under too long. Once the light beams flooded this cave the excitement seemed to replace the need for oxygen in my lungs. This was just one of the many cool places we got to explore in the Derawan Islands with @hvtrip . They truly made this such an unforgettable experience. Song 🎶 - “don’t leave me here alone” by Zaini ( @zainibeats ). I absolutely love this song, I’ve had it on repeat in my headphones this whole trip. Thought it would be fitting for my favorite moment😀

I’ve traveled all over Indonesia. I’ve climbed volcanoes in Java, been to all the waterfalls in Bali and played around on pink beaches in Komodo National Park. All of this to say that out of everywhere I have been in this beautiful country I can easily say that the Derawan Islands are my favorite. This is my second time visiting Derawan with @hvtrip . They are one of the few companies that offer access to these islands. They are an eco minded group of people that want to share the beauty of this tucked away corner in Indonesia. Today I took over 3000 photos and we have 3 days left. Can’t wait to share more photos with you guys:)

It’s nice to get away from the city lights. It’s interesting to think that this view was accessible even in the largest cities just over 100 years ago. Walking down the streets of New York City with only oil lamps illuminating the streets and the Milky Way silhouetting the tall building. Today the Milky Way hasn’t disappeared but it’s just hiding, hiding from all the lights, just waiting for us to get away from them and gaze at it once more. Creation made for us to look up in a constant state of wonder hidden by the creation of man.
