The Northrop Grumman (formerly Orbital ATK) Cygnus resupply ship tested its ability to boost the International Space Station’s altitude today. Cygnus’ engine fired for 50 seconds Tuesday at 4:25 p.m. EDT to reboost the station by about 295 feet in a test designed to verify an additional capability to adjust the orbital lab’s altitude. Cygnus is departing the station on Sunday after delivering several tons of supplies and science experiments back in May for the six crew members on board. Cygnus, pictured here on May 24, 2018, with its round, brass-colored UltraFlex solar arrays is guided to its port on the Unity module shortly after it was captured with the Canadarm2 robotic arm.

#Repost@nasajohnson ・・・ We have selected six new flight directors to carry out human spaceflight missions from our Mission Control Center including International Space Station (@iss) missions, new American-made commercial spacecraft missions, and future Orion missions to the Moon and beyond. They will join an elite group of less than 100 flight directors in the history of human spaceflight. Join them for a Twitter chat today at 4:30pm ET on the @NASA_Johnson Twitter account and send in your questions using #askNASA. Learn more about them at the link in our bio. #NASA#missioncontrol#explore#futureleaders#exploration#space
