"Visitors to the Heritage Centre are greeted by five traditional Clan poles carved by local artists. They represent the five Clans in which Teslin Tlingit Council society remains firmly rooted: Kùkhhittàn (Raven Children), Ishkìtàn (Frog), Yanyèdi (Wolf), Dèshitàn (Beaver), and Dakhł΄awèdi (Eagle). These poles symbolize the elements of land, water and air." . . Photo and words by Teslin Tlingit Heritage Centre . #IndigenousCanada#exploreCanada#exploreYukon#totempole#IndigenousTourism

"Wya, in our language means large rocks look out point. . . When I was still a teenager my children’s father would take me here. We’d be booney crashing our way through what felt like forever. I’m not sure how he knew the way or how he knew this was his but he did. So much of our traditional territories I’ve yet to learn & I get excited about educating myself on just this. . . Something so fascinating about it all for me, traditional territories, their traditional place names & the history of the land. . . So I sat under the stars with my little man, watching the sun sink into the ocean while toasting me toes. Thinking about how magical & beautiful life is..." . The breathtaking views from @wyapoint.
