Very enjoyable Belém Tower. Glad we packed the baby carrier on the off chance the almost 4 year old might still need it. She did. And with all those uneven, steep spiral staircases THANK GOODNESS!⁣ ⁣ Family travel tip: Play find the rhinoceros on the tower. ⁣ ⁣ #familytravel#belem#belemtower#familyvacation#travelwithkids#funtobedone#lisbon#portugal

A delicious stop between the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower. I’m still having dreams about the pastel de nata at Pasteis de Belém. #pasteldenata#pasteisdebelem#belem#belemtower#lisbon#familytravel#travelwithkids#familyvacation#toddlertravel

Jerónimos Monastery and an afternoon of historically epic adventures. ⁣ ⁣ Family travel tips:⁣ 1. Tickets are sold at the door left (facing the monastery) of the entrance. ⁣ ⁣ 2. The inner courtyard is a nice, safe place for little ones to run off some energy (assuming it’s not packed with fellow tourists). ⁣ ⁣ 3. If you just want a taste, entrance to the church next door is free. ⁣ ⁣ #familytravel#jeronimosmonastery#belem#kidstravel#familyadventures#lisbon#portugal#makingmemories

Nothing like a pink street to keep a 3 year old excited about travel (especially after hours of wandering a new city)!⁣ ⁣ Family travel tip: Enjoy the “pink street” around lunch then head over to the Time Out market for a great meal in a family friendly environment. If you visit Rua Nova do Carvalho early in the morning expect reminders from last night’s party. Beer bottles and trash bags are not the best for family photos. #lisbon#ruanovadocarvalho#pink#prettyinpink#familytravel#timeoutmarketlisboa

Castelo de São
Apparently I will be facing my fear of heights on this trip...⁣ ⁣ Castelo de São Jorge has great views and a nice wall walk (low walls on the courtyard side) but you could get equally nice views at the Miradouro de Santa Luzia on the walk through the Alfama neighborhood and save a few $. ⁣Don’t expect an intact 🏰- definitely ruins (enjoyable nonetheless). ⁣ Top family travel tips⁣ 1. Don’t miss the peacocks. Did you know they can fly/jump to the upper branches of tall trees?!⁣ ⁣ 2. The lines were not so long in January but I can imagine they would be horrific in the peak of summer. Save time with eTickets. ⁣ ⁣ 3. If you plan on visiting Sintra, you may want to choose between Castelo de São Jorge and Castelo dos Mouros unless you are passionate about Moorish history. ⁣ ⁣ #castelodesaojorge#lisbon#travelwithkids#peacock

Enjoying a sunny winter day in Óbidos Top family travel tips 1. Hold on for dear life! Walking the city walls is not for those with a fear of heights...or toddlers. 2. When entering the town take a right or a left and avoid the tourist trap shops and the crowds. 3. Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch looking out on the valley below at a look out point near the castle (just outside the wall). #familytravel#obidos#medivalcastle#portugalwithkids
