And the winning ideas for 3D printing on the Moon come from... πŸŒΉπŸŒ• β€’ Helen Schell from the UK, proposing a β€˜magic Moon garden’, printed from recycled coloured plastics. β€’ Judith de Santiago, who presented a dodecahedron (or 12-sided) plant pot – ideally for a real plant – that also incorporates symbols of distant Earth. β€’ Thanks everyone for participating‼️Go to our @instagram Story to learn more.

This is #yourESA πŸŒ• β€’ Many across the world woke in the early hours of Monday to view a a total lunar eclipse and shared their images on social media. The images were stunning across the continent, but particularly over Lake Maggiore, Italy. This image of the eclipse at totality was taken at 06:23 CET by Alberto Negro. β€’ Go to our @instagram Story to learn more about this phenomenon and the Moon. β€’ πŸ“Έ@mclane_70

Did you catch the eclipse last nightβ‰οΈπŸŒ• β€’ Moon always provides wonderful photographic opportunities. This time, Daniel Michalik captured a beautiful scene at the Earth’s South Pole in Antarctica, where the dry, cold conditions allow for observations of a number of rare celestial phenomena that are seen far less often elsewhere. The sight captured beautifully here by Daniel is a good example of such a phenomenon: a light pillar. Go to our @instagram Story to learn more about light pillars and don't forget to tag your captures of last night's eclipse with #yourESA for a chance to be featured in our website. β€’ πŸ“Έ D. Hubble Time! πŸŒŒβ €β €β € β €β €β € This huge ball of stars β€” around 100 billion in total β€” is an elliptical galaxy located some 55 million light-years away from us. Known as Messier 89, this galaxy appears to be perfectly spherical; this is unusual for elliptical galaxies, which tend to be elongated ellipsoids. The apparently spherical nature of Messier 89 could, however, be a trick of perspective, and be caused by its orientation relative to the Earth.
