Absolutely NO filter for this image. I decided to blow the dust off my camera today whilst walking around the beautiful Royal grounds of Windsor Great Park. _ When taking this photo I didn’t see the bird fly towards the shot and when I noticed that I managed to capture it my stomach flipped with excitement. _ When you’ve not felt that emotion for such a long time I cannot tell you just how wonderful it feels. So that’s another deposit stored in the ‘Hope Bank’ for me. _ Today I walked over 18,000 steps with my best friend and this was the first time we’ve done this circuit for a very long time - it felt good. _ The sun was warm and we walked at a good fast pace taking in the fresh air and talking about our feelings of gratitude for health. _ I intend to use my camera so much more this year and next week I’m meeting up with a very talented, professional Photographer @fiona_cue , pop over and have a look at her images, they are amazing... It could be that your cortisol levels are out of whack. To get your cortisol back into balance, you need to take a multi-faceted approach. One piece of that puzzle is to evaluate your bedroom to make sure there is no light coming in at night. It is shown that both red and blue lights affect cortisol levels. This includes light from windows or electronics. So, consider getting black out shades or a comfy eye mask. Cover up any lights from electronics like a TV or clock, and get that cell phone out of the room.

💢Hormone Imbalance Update💢 . . As promised I wanted to share my findings with you guys as you never know who maybe be having similar problems and might need some guidance. I am actually pretty spot on with listening to my body and knowing something is off. I knew my hormones were NOT normal when my menstrual cycles only last a day or two, I was super fatigued all time no matter how much sleep I would get ( I average 8-9 hours a night) super emotional mood swings, very very low libido, etc. . . I’m thankful for this doctor office that I found several months back when my Lyme was at it worst. My doctor decided to do a saliva test to see what my hormone levels are throughout the day. A saliva test is actually more accurate than a blood test( that I did not know). . This test is very specific where have to collect four test tubes of saliva at particular times with nothing to eat or drink within two hours of the test except water. The test took approximately 7-8 weeks to get results back since it has to be sent out to a specific laboratory. . Sure enough, when I saw my doctor last week she advised me that I was correct. My results had showed that I have low estrogen and progesterone and my morning cortisol which is supposed to be high is very low in the morning. If you look at the graph you can see my dot is way below average for estradiol, progesterone, testosterone , and cortisol. . My doctor believes that the reasoning was not from birth control but actually from stress which was definitely my job at the time because that job stressed me out more than any job I have ever worked which I am thankful that I will be starting a new journey in a week. . Treatment plan: my doctor has me taking TOPICAL treatment of a cream of progesterone at nighttime and a PD7 click daily in the am which has 7 hormones in it. The reason for the topical from what the pharmacist explained is because the way it is metabolized quicker because it bypasses the liver and goes to the bloodstream. My doctor also explained she didn’t want to put me on any extreme pills that will give me excessive amounts and result in any extreme side effects. More continued in comments

High reps better than Low reps? - These kinds of questions are RIFE in fitness. - And they are killing peoples progress. - @hypertrophycoach said it bests a few posts back. Results are rarely found in the black or white. Results are in the grey. - He was talking about training but it applies to nutrition as well. - Yes there are some things that are black and white, energy balance and resistance training spring to mind. - But within those categories, things are very much grey and can be individualised massively. - Getting into a mindset of X IS better than Y leaves you blinded to the benefits of the other thing. Once you become a zealot for X, you'll struggle to ever get out of your box. - Let's take training to failure vs not - There's generally practical applications for both. That was when I thought sweetened coconut flakes was the only way to eat coconut. .. Recovering from major abdominal surgery the first week of taking care of a #newborn is not something I had planned for. I was terrified to cough/sneeze for the first week/ did anything to avoid engaging the abs...massive amounts of swelling in my feet and face between week 1 and 2...vs one week later, I’m simply thankful to be able to go from laying to seated without pain #thesimplethings. Today, we got the first 45 minute dog walk in, stroller and all... thankful for all my body is doing to heal from surgery all while producing everything this baby needs to survive. #thankful Up 30 lbs on delivery day, down 17 at 2 weeks postpartum (um, ten of that being baby 😬). A good deal of research exists to show that libido is to some extent is cyclical across the menstrual cycle, with peak erotic motivation occurring around the time of ovulation midway between menstrual periods. It’s evolution’s way of spurring procreation. The reason for this is multifactorial but one contributing factor is blood flow. Dutch researchers showed erotic videos to 20 women whose genitals were wired to detect blood flow. Increased blood flow is an indicator of physiological arousal. Genital blood flow increased the most around the time of ovulation, and in an accompanying survey, the women said they felt most aroused at that time of the month. If you’re not experiencing this heightened arousal state around ovulation it may be due to low blood flow (or many other reasons - do your DUTCH test yearly). If blood flow is the issue here are some tips: 1. Have orgasms often. Communication and frequency is necessary. 2. Consider supplements that increase blood flow like L-arginine, panax ginseng, Ginko biloba and Damiana leaf. 3. Balance hormones . This is where testing is key. Low testosterone treatment (tribulus) is different that estrogen issues (perhaps DIM or MACA). 4. Increase intake of anti-inflammatory omega 3s such as those from fish 5. Master the foundations of health - sleep, exercise, fasting, proper macros, meditation/mindset.

Sunday confession. I have tried to pinpoint exactly when the change occurred, it seems to have been a lot of little things adding up to one major shift. Many have no clue, I’ve worked so hard to push down my feelings, show up with a smile, makes jokes, etc. The truth is I’ve withdrawn from my own life. I go to work every day, and for the better part of a year I’ve attended what I had to. Please understand it had nothing to do with anyone else rather something that I’ve been going through trying my hardest to find my spark & wondering WTH happened to it. I’ve beat myself up for feeling a way in which now I know was no fault of my own. I’ve wanted nothing more than to feel like myself again, but how do I get there when idk how I got here. At least when I was diagnosed with #PTSD I understood what traumatic life event was the root cause. Most women have an improvement with their #insulinresitance when they have significant weight loss, this however wasn’t the case for me. Through many Dr. visits I be diagnosed with #PCOS the kicker, according to my PCP my Endo knew in 2014, that I had #PCOS why didn’t I know until late 2018? Changes in BC have also caused further imbalances w/my #hormones. I’ve been so fortunate to find an amazing #baritician she has uncovered imbalances & vitamin deficiencies. She has taken so much time educating me on my conditions, how they impact my body & working with me to get them to a manageable state. I have an appointment with a new Endocrinologist that specializes in #PCOS#adreanaldiseases & #endocrinedisorders it’s been a blessing to have support from some that know. They have taken the time & a real interest in learning what I’ve learned to support me! Those that have stuck around, still love me, still push me, & those that give me my space when I need it. Also, thankful for the amazing coverage of #ITcosmetics 😊This in NO WAY is a poor pitiful me post. It’s ok not to feel ok. Be your biggest advocate. I could write a multiple pages on this topic but instagram limits what I can say, so today we’re going to look at sleep . ⏰Sleep is strongly regulated by hormones, and our hormones are cyclic, meaning they rise and fall in a predictable pattern throughout the day. BUT if you sleep during the day and work at night, this cyclic pattern is counterproductive to your work and sleep schedule . 💪Human growth hormone- increases during sleep, and peaks immediately after sleep onset. This is why quality sleep is important. When working crazy hours, you may feel the need to cram workouts into your day, but it should be the opposite, PRIORITIZE SLEEP, shitty sleep = no gains . 😬Cortisol- rises at night and peaks in the morning. If you are working night shift, your cortisol is high in the morning. When you finish work and are getting ready to sleep, causing you to feel tired and wired. Cortisol has an inverse relationship with insulin- so if you eat a serving of carbs after work, your body will produce insulin in response to the carbs AND lower your cortisol level ⠀⠀ . 😴Melatonin- increases at night and decreases in response to sunlight exposure. To prevent this wear sunglasses on your drive home and invest in black out blinds. If you are still having difficulty sleeping you can supplement your melatonin . 🥞Ghrelin makes you hungry and leptin signals your body is full/satisfied. Ghrelin increases before meal times. This means if our body habitually eats and expects meals during the day, and you flip your schedule around for work, your ghrelin levels will rise while you are sleeping- causing a decrease in REM sleep. Leptin also rises at night and peaks in the morning. Elevated leptin decreases food intake/hunger, allowing you to sleep. If your sleep schedule is reversed, your leptin will be lower while you are trying to sleep causing hunger to rise

I have entered a very early phase of third trimester no sleep, which is odd and slightly unfair since I have a week and a half left before I’ll be in third trimester. Any of my second time around preggo mama’s relate to this travesty? • Naturally when one can’t sleep they do things to pass the time. Talk to God about all the little and big things on your mind (we mom’s have SO many), siphoning through all messages that we finally are replying back to (I’m either right on top of texts or about a week late, there’s no in-between 🙈) or we meander down memory lane in old photos thinking about sweet memories and precious little, heart string pulling moments. Tonight I stumbled upon this photo of H when she finally was starting to grow her hair back after a 3 month stint of newborn hair loss (scroll right). It had this little quaff in the front like a wave and when you put her in a bow it made it kind of stand up dragon ball-z style. It was then I captured this profile and had it engraved forever into one of our D&D Heirlooms. I may have cried when I received it, touching the delicately etched flyaways and that sweet little hair quaff. See, I get emotional over my own D&D Keepsakes as well. Going to go sneak a peek at my girl in her crib now. I’m not crying. You know what, I am. SENSITIVE: This is our little nugget ❤️ Our baby measured 8 weeks 5 days during my ten week ultrasound. My pregnancy was confirmed no longer viable. I still keep replaying that moment over in my head when the ultrasound specialist said aloud “I am so sorry but there is no heartbeat”. This was an extremely hard thing to hear, one second you are pregnant and then the next second you are not. . My midwife suspected something might have been off when I told her many of my pregnancy symptoms like nausea and fatigue had gone away around week 8. I thought I was just rocking my pregnancy, little did I know my pregnancy hormones were decreasing. . What I experienced is a missed miscarriage, my baby had passed but my body had not yet recognized the loss. When I was told this I had to make a decision - wait to naturally miscarry, take a medication to contract the uterus, or schedule a d and c surgery. I opted for the medication and was administered it over a series of four days. Last night was the most intense, I will be writing about my experience in my next blog post.
