New addition to our cat family. I’m calling her Bunny, since she was found with her tail so injured the vet had to amputate it. Now she just has a little powderpuff tail. Koshka is welcoming her new sister with surprising equanimity - no kitty hissy fits so far....
Now here’s some cool sea lion pics. They got VERY close. The fella who showed me his teeth kind freaked me out, but I showed him my feet (as our guide said to do) and he went away. At one point our guide also said, “if you look under the water, you can see SO MANY things swimming right underneath you.” I declined to do so, because, well, that thought filled me with utter terror. 😆
As promised, I have pics from our swim with sea lions, but FIRST, here’s video of what 8,000 sea lions spread out over a few rocky islands sounds like (basically a lunatic asylum). I won’t lie - I was a little scared to shimmy into a wetsuit and jump into the melee. But I’m glad I did.
Isla Incahuasi, this is the ancient top of a volcano, which was underwater when the Salar de Uyuni was a giant lake during prehistoric times. Now the lake has drained away, it’s become a kind of island surrounded by thousands of square kilometers of blinding salt. Some of the cacti are hundreds of years old.
