The Paper Kites act as the soundtrack mixed with the sounds of the candle flame dancin, matching the appropriate accompaniment of the rain outside. I looked up at the song playing after my eyes were shut for a bit, and it’s titled Standing in the Rain. AH how perfect!! Literally a real life soundtrack happening right now. How appropriate, indeed. While my eyes were shut, unbending with the sounds around, my mind was wandered to what it means to be seen? Truly seen. What are ways that you feel seen, and see others? 🌧 I chose these photos because the expressions on their faces, expressive/comfortable, a new born okay to be vulnerable, asleep while being held, and the comfort of laughing near your mom, no matter the age - all ways that I see as being seen. ☁️
A Saturday morning that feels like it was sprinkled with a little bit of fairy dust. ✨ Cute pups interlaced through discussing: 1. How we are trying to be “functional adults!” 2. Our love stories that are deeper and much more layered than what our young imaginations expected. *sips cappuccino *pets pup pup 3. New plans and plants to make a vision come to life in a new space / 4. Carreer changes / identity *nervous giggles *sips, pets. 5. Discussing expectancy, fear, the worst and best of ourselves. OH how we all need one another. ✨ Happy gloomy Saturday with those who make the every day one to note✨
I will forever say my camera is not my identity, it is a tool to tell stories of the often overlooked or misunderstood, it is a way to celebrate life and capture moments of history and culture. My background is in visual journalism with an emphasis in Arab culture and Youth + Education - super broad words but really outline what makes my blood flow quicker and the kind of things that keep me up at night . In the beginning of 2018 I left working at the newspaper to take a breather after running full speed for the last five years. It’s funny how when you take a step away from something, you realize how much you need it. I adore story telling, it almost feels like it’s something I am mandated to do. But even a good thing with a lack of balance can bring resentment, and I so did begin to resent my camera... after a bit of time and very needed rest, I am ready to jump fully in again. I have a pile of photos I have been working on that I can’t wait to share! Projects are in the works merged of the things that drive me, my why. Holding a camera and taking photos is an honor and I am giddy for this year, feeling full and ready to get to work! I chose to post this photo instead of a new one because I almost feel like the student in the center feels seen, and that there, is the whole goal.
AH happy day! I told George how absolutely trendy he is while we braved the Vegas winter wind. He laughed and grabbed his hat and said he is the definition of trend and class. He shared about his family and how he came to Vegas. What a gem, what a classy gem.
