A new rider review on the Happy model is up on @beach_grit. Two people rode it and informed this review: Writer Long Tom and the Anonymous Rider shown here ( any guesses who it is?). Hit link in bio to read it and watch full edit. The Happy is a super approachable shortboard design built to give surfers the freedom to easily go wherever their mind takes them. It’s an all-in-one board Britt Merrick originally made for Dane Reynolds and our World Tour surfers who wanted a single model they can scale up or down with ease vs bringing several different ones to meet their needs. What we’ve learned from our R&D on the Happy is that its foam forward design helped us reach our goal of seamlessly scaling the same model to step-up dimensions—especially with round tail—without any hiccups. The Happy has low entry rocker and strategically placed forward volume that allows the board to paddle well, get up to speed quickly, and perform extremely well in the tube, while being easy to ride. Single concave under the front foot, transitioning into double between the fins, and flat off the tail give the perfect combination of speed and control. To harness all that speed, Happy’s refined rails, thinned out tail and curvy rear rocker make for a highly responsive board that is also extremely forgiving through critical maneuvers, and it holds like a mutha – no matter how hard you turn. It’s a board that scales nicely to a step-ups with surfers like Zeke Lau using is all last winter to our team in Bali using it as their go-to step-up on bombing Indo walls. Surf better. Be happy. @mikeyfebruary recently rode our CI Twin Fin in the J-Bay Corona Highline heat, and walked away with the win. See link in bio to watch the full heat. He and the three other surfers (Stephanie Gilmore, Johanne Defay and Ryan Callinan) rode identical 5’11″ CI Twin Fins equipped with our new keel fins made by @futuresfins to provide more drive on J-Bay’s super fast, down-the-line walls. We’ve been getting a lot of inquiries from around the globe regarding what Mikey was riding. The CI Twin Fin was introduced two years ago and it’s still widely available today through shops or custom orders. It has a retro ’70s feel that is melded with modern, state-of-the-art performance design characteristics of today. The CI Twin Fin was originally designed and handshaped by Britt Merrick when he was asked to compete in a surf contest. The board he shaped for that event was inspired by a twin-fin his father Al had shaped for himself in 1981. A friend of Britt’s had recently found the original board at a garage sale and gave it to Britt who took its template then cut it out on a fresh blank. Britt kept the outline vibe in tact but updated the rocker, bottom and rail profile so as to have a more modern feel with added positive drive and carving ability. The CI Twin Fin has become a favorite of Dane Reynolds and Mikey February, among many other CI Teamriders and employees, and it works great in everything from weak beach breaks to good points, proving to be a fast and fun wave catching machine. To offset negative characteristics of a high-volume retro design, the CI Twin Fin’s rails are tapered and relatively thin feeling for added sensitivity and responsiveness. Ride the CI Twin Fin 2” to 4” shorter than you are tall; 1/2” to 1” wider, and 1/8” to 1/4” thicker than your normal shortboard. Clips courtesy @wsl@corona#ciSurfboards#ciTwinFin#CoronaHighline

This past weekend's @stab_high comp saw the world’s best air surfers battle for the win at this unique event in which CI’s own Eithan Osborne won $20,000 last year after pulling the biggest air atop a Neck Beard 2 with Spine-Tek. Bobby Martinez and Dane Reynolds were on hand in the commentary booth for the event’s live broadcast, and Dane also surfed in the main event. He joined a stacked field that also included CI’s Parker Coffin, Tanner Gudauskas, Kael Walsh, Bella Kenworthy and Leon Glatzer. Our long time friend Jimmy Metyko @metykojimmy, who you may recall his extensive photography work he did here at our Santa Barbara factory and in our backyard during the early ’80s, was on hand to capture all the action. Here are just some of the incredible images he shared with us. If you missed the live broadcast, don’t worry you can still see it here: stabhigh.com/ or more images up on our blog! #ciSurfboards#StabHigh#ciSpineTek
