Went to the very popular, Bun Moc Thanh Mai, for their bun moc (rice noodles topped with pork ham slices/balls & onions in a pork bone soup) without the smelly shrimp paste. Sometimes there are places in HCMC that are popular but disappointingly expensive & not good. This place is worthy of the hype.
The rain finally caught up to me on my last night in Saigon. I tried my best to keep taking advantage of the night but it was too dark, too many puddles, & too dangerous to cross the streets (low visibility). So when I slipped on those slanted curbs into a pool of water, I knew that it was time to call it a night. The rain does clear up the smog though.
I’ve never traveled to South East Asia in late Spring before & oh boy, am I not built for all this intense heat & staggering humidity. As my friend @jonk would say, travelling to the land of my people (or half of of me) makes me appreciate how they live, work, leisure, & also adapt to an incredibly developing environment & climate change. I am so impressed. I walk around with big hair & sweaty everything & marvel that these ppl hardly break a sweat. How the hell?
