Meet #UltimaThule! After flying

These new images, taken from as close as 17,000 miles, revealed that this object is a “contact binary,” consisting of two connected spheres. End to end, Ultima Thule measures 19 miles in length. The team has dubbed the larger sphere “Ultima” and the smaller sphere “Thule”. The team says that the two spheres likely joined as early as 99 percent of the way back to the formation of the solar system, colliding no faster than two cars in a fender-bender. It likely formed over time as a rotating cloud of small, icy bodies started to combine. Eventually, 2 larger bodies remained and slowly spiraled closer until they touched, forming the bi-lobed object we see today. Studying Ultima Thule is helping us understand how planets form — both those in our own solar system and those orbiting other stars in our galaxy. Data from the New Year's Day flyby will continue to arrive over the next weeks and months, with much higher resolution images yet to come. Supplicating in prayerful positions entered a fool’s paradise. Yet, she didn’t eat me. Must’ve been the plutonium dioxide’s decay into electricity. Perhaps it was the radio-sensitivity, or the anticipated offensive activity. Meanwhile, she’s still rubbing her hands. Imagining the flavor of my Glands. Sitting oh so very pretty. Afterthought: New Horizons meets Ultima Thule to ring in 2019. Here I am year's later still celebrating New Horizons, zipping and zooming into a far away place. Exceeding our previous records, and stretching humanity outside what we fathomed our solar system was or could be. Beyond the thresholds of human interest, into a realm of pure adventure. Whereas our forefathers expanded westwardly, we venture into every vector possible in this galaxy. Perhaps our descendants will be able to venture to other galaxies and still return to their proper time in our current understanding of the universe. Perhaps what we're building up with mathematics and each human life is merely a semblance of time. New Horizons is bridging my time from the past into the present. New Horizons launched on January 19th, 2006. It’s destination, Pluto and beyond into the Kuiper Belt. At launch, New Horizons was moving incredibly fast, just over 36,000 mph. It was moving so fast that the trip to the orbit of the moon took about 8.5 hours. After a gravity assist at Jupiter in 2007, New Horizons entered the extended cruise portion of its mission. Almost a decade passed from launch to Pluto flyby. Pictured here is the @ulalaunch Atlas V rocket that sent New Horizons on its way to Pluto. After waiting nearly a decade, it was time to image Pluto. The approach was tantalizing, each day a new image showed Pluto in greater detail than ever before. During the flyby, New Horizons went radio silent so its instruments could be pointed at Pluto for the duration of the brief encounter. More recently, New Horizons flew by Ultima Thule, the most distant object ever visited by a spacecraft. Have you guys heard about this thing? Ultima Thule is an object beyond Pluto in the Kuiper belt. It's 20 miles long! New Horizons did a flyby of it on January first making it the farthest celestial object to be visited by a human spacecraft. I know it's nerdy but for me it's super exciting! @nasa@newhorizonsmission

At the time of discovery, Pluto was considered a planet but was later controversially reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006. Tombaugh also discovered many asteroids. He also called for the serious scientific research of unidentified flying objects, or #UFOs.

Tens of thousands of names and wishes for New Horizons were transmitted to the Kuiper Belt on New Year's Eve from the 60-foot antenna at the satellite communications facility at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, as NASA's New Horizons spacecraft bore down on its flyby target, Ultima Thule. Several weeks before that flyby the New Horizons team gave people around the world the opportunity to "beam" their name and a choice of messages, at the speed of light, toward New Horizons and Ultima Thule on flyby day – ¬and 30,547 people ultimately signed on. #Repost@nasa ・・・ Meet #UltimaThule! After flying by the most distant object ever explored, our New Horizons spacecraft beamed back the first pictures and science data. These new images, taken from as close as 17,000 miles, revealed that this object is a “contact binary,” consisting of two connected spheres. End to end, Ultima Thule measures 19 miles in length. The team has dubbed the larger sphere “Ultima” and the smaller sphere “Thule”. The team says that the two spheres likely joined as early as 99 percent of the way back to the formation of the solar system, colliding no faster than two cars in a fender-bender. It likely formed over time as a rotating cloud of small, icy bodies started to combine. Eventually, 2 larger bodies remained and slowly spiraled closer until they touched, forming the bi-lobed object we see today. Studying Ultima Thule is helping us understand how planets form — both those in our own solar system and those orbiting other stars in our galaxy. Data from the New Year's Day flyby will continue to arrive over the next weeks and months, with much higher resolution images yet to come. Using a mathematical equation to predict where Neptune would be, Neptune was observed for the first time with a telescope in 1846. Its largest moon, Triton, was discovered shortly after, though none of the planet's remaining known 13 moons were located telescopically until the 20th century. . . ..... کمربند کویپر حلقه ای قرص مانند از اجرام که در ماورای مدار نپتون در فاصله ۳۰ تا۴۰ واحدنجومی و تقریبا در صفحه منظومه شمسی بدور خورشید می چرخند(توجه داشته باشید که منطقه ابر اورت منطقه ای کروی است). این اجرام از مواد یخی تشکیل شده و منشا اصلی دنباله دارها با دوره تناوب کوتاه (با دوره تناوب کمتر از ۲۰۰ سال) به شمار می رونددرحالیکه ابر اورت منشاء دنباله دارهای با دوره بلند است. تصور بر این است که گروهی از سیارکها با نام سیارکهای سنتور که مدار آنها بین مشتری و نپتون است نیز تحت تاثیر سیاره نپتون احتمالا به این منطقه آمده باشند. اگر این سیارکهای یخی به مناطق درونی منظومه شمسی نزدیک شوند میتوانند به دنباله دارهایی فوق العاده درخشان تبدیل شوند. حلقه‌های مشابه کوییپر تا به حال در اطراف ۹ ستاره تشخیص داده شده‌اند . وجود این حلقه ها ارتباط مستقیمی با تشکیل سیارات در یک منظومه‌ی ستاره ای دارد. وجود لبه های تیز بیرونی در یک کمربند باریک (مانند کمربند کوییپر) نشان دهنده ی وجود همدمی ستاره مانند برای ستاره‌ی اصلی است که به طور مداوم، لبه ی بیرونی کمربند را تمیز می کند. درست مانند تاثیر اقمار بر لبه های حلقه‌های زحل و اورانوس. این اجرام یخی هر از چند مدتی تحت تاثیر گرانش سیارات بزرگ منظومه شمسی به‌ویژه مشتری به مناطق درونی منظومه رانده شده و بخاطر نور وحرارت خورشید شروع به بخار شدن کرده و مانند دنباله دار در آسمان ظاهر می شوند. در سال ١٩٩٢ اخترشناسان نقطه سرخ رنگ کوچکی را در ٤٢ واحد نجومی خورشید تشخیص دادند؛ اولین جرم دیده شده در کمربند کوییپر. از آن سال تاکنون بیش از ١٠٠٠ جرم در این کمربند شناخته شده است. اجرام کمربند کوییپر بسیار دور هستند و به همین علت اندازه‌گیری ابعاد آنها کاری دشوار است. اندازه ای که برای آنها تخمین زده می‌شود، به ارتباط میان میزان درخشندگی سطحی آنها و اندازه شان وابسته است. برای اندازه‌گیری اندازه بنابر میزان درخشندگی، دانشمندان درصد بازتاب نور خورشید را از سطح جرم اندازه می گیرند، به این عدد ضریب بازتاب سطحی (آلبدو) می گویند. جهت مطالعه بیشتر به کانال تلگرام در بالای صفحه مراجعه نمایید @farasoo.danesh#nasa#earth#sun#Planet#star#sky#universe#moon#mercury#venus#mars#saturn#kuiperbelt#neptune#jupiter#galaxy#زمین#خورشید#سیاره#ستاره#آسمان#ماه#تیر#مریخ#کویپر#اورانوس#زحل#نپتون#منظومه_شمسی#کهکشان

Objek-objek tersebut termasuk delapan buah planet yang sudah diketahui dengan orbit berbentuk elips, lima planet kerdil/katai, 173 satelit alami yang telah diidentifikasi, dan jutaan benda langit (meteor, asteroid, komet) lainnya. Tata Surya terbagi menjadi Matahari, empat planet bagian dalam, sabuk asteroid, empat planet bagian luar, dan di bagian terluar adalah Sabuk Kuiper dan piringan tersebar. Awan Oortdiperkirakan terletak di daerah terjauh yang berjarak sekitar seribu kali di luar bagian yang terluar. Berdasarkan jaraknya dari Matahari, kedelapan planet Tata Surya ialah Merkurius (57,9 juta km), Venus (108 juta km), Bumi (150 juta km), Mars(228 juta km), Yupiter (779 juta km), Saturnus(1.430 juta km), Uranus (2.880 juta km), dan Neptunus (4.500 juta km). Sejak pertengahan 2008, ada lima objek angkasa yang diklasifikasikan sebagai planet kerdil. Orbit planet-planet kerdil, kecuali Ceres, berada lebih jauh dari Neptunus.
