🏁 Featured Classic: 1979 BMW M1 Procar By RMD bvba #sharethepassion The Story ➡️ This is a rare opportunity to acquire the very 1st of 49 BMW M1 Procar in excellent, race-ready condition. Welcome at all historic events around the world including Peter Auto's Classic Endurance Race Series, Le Mans Classic, etc.. 🔎 History: • First delivered by BMW to Niki Lauda as a show car, then to the Walter Wolf Racing Team and subsequently to the AC Schnitzer Team as a show car • This is the very first BMW Procar built by the BMW Factory after the last Prototype (chassis 4301 007) and it is the only pre-production model ever built. This Procar was never raced and was used for Press and Public Relation purposes. It is probably the most unmolested and best preserved BMW M1 Procar in existence. • 1979: Displayed as show car at various Formula One races where the Procar race series took place. The Big Healey – Sportiness & Awesomeness 🖤🔝🖤 ... Monochrome Style (172+172a-172d) 🎬 … ========================= (1957, Austin-Healey 100-6 (six-cylinders) ... The short story – extracts: The Austin-Healey 100 was the first of three cars later called “The Big Healeys” to distinguish them from the later and much smaller Austin-Healey Sprite. The Austin-Healey 100/100-4 (four-cylinders) was the first of “the big ones”, followed by the Austin-Healey 100-6 (as in my photos) and then finally the Austin-Healey 3000. As mentioned, the Austin-Healey 100-6 (internal model designation: BN4), replaced the Austin-Healey 100/100-4 and it was instantly recognisable to the public as an Austin-Healey, though it also introduced several improvements. Chief amongst these improvements was that the powertrain completely was replaced by one based on the straight-six BMC C-Series engine 💪 Additional improvements included two small rear (child’s) seats (which in 1958 became an option with the introduction of the two-seat BN6 produced in parallel with the 2+2 BN4), a fixed windshield, additional tail lamps at the rear, a lengthened body to accommodate the larger engine, and a wider oval radiator grille that was mounted in a slightly lower location compared to its predecessor. The biggest difference between the interiors of the Austin-Healey 100s and those of the early 100-6s roadsters (as in my photos) was the dashboard ... the 100-6s had them covered with vinyl and fitted with a new chrome-trimmed oval instrument panel. Some minor switchgear was shuffled around, but the design changed quite little until as late as when the Austin 3000 Mark III cabriolet was introduced in the early 1960s. The tech specs for “The Big Healey” 100-6 in 1957, in short: 117 hp, 2,639 cc straight-six engine with twin SU carburettors, four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs and wishbones, rear semi-elliptic leaf-spring suspension, and four-wheel drum brakes. Wheelbase: 2,337 mm Where the 100 was clearly a sports car through and through, the 100-6 seemed a bit more intended for e.g. longer drives in mind, but IMHO it still retained the 100’s sporting character 👏).

The red 9000 Aero @radwoodofficial just reminded me of my SAAB 9000 CSE (with 'optional' cloth interior!). It had the same turbo engine as the Aero and this made it able to outrun almost any sports car of its era in a rolling sprint. What a sleeper it was. Loved it. Check out the exchangeble sweatbands on the steering wheel. My car had all three. Workshop days are the most satisfying days - and they've been a pretty regular occurance lately, as the #Mini6000 expedition rolls closer. . So far, progress in getting Daisy the Mini ready for its drive up the world's highest volcano has been slower than hoped - thanks to the time demands of other trips, various writing commitments and the other two cars in the fleet demanding pretty regular attention, such as today, which saw a new headlamp lens and king lead for Kermit. . However that doesn't mean we're going nowhere. Daisy is now stripped down as far as we can go while keeping it movable, the custom build is all planned out and we're slowly removing 45 years of rusty metal, filler and bodges from the body. The diary is finally starting to free up meaning its now full speed ahead on the project, with the first new metal due to be welded in place this weekend, and the push for sponsorship beginning in earnest next week. . Driving up the highest volcano on earth in a '74 Mini? Jensen 541R. Almost entirely unknown, but the first of the stylish and fast GT Jensens, the 514 was styled by Eric Neale who had previously been at Wolseley and Austin. The pretty fibreglass body had a driver-operated opening panel instead of a radiator grille (swipe). I absolutely love the indicator mounted behind the rear window and the gorgeously shaped metal plate it sits on. Brilliant detail. Power came from an Austin 4 litre straight six, delivering 123 mph. The 541 was replaced by the hideous looking CV8, with its dual slanting headlamps, which Neale apparently never wanted. Neale then left Jensen after the Vignale designed Interceptor was chosen over his own P66 prototype (see stories). Only about 500 of these 541s were built, making them a real rarity.

Anteguerra a parte (saranno ben 17) il parterre delle auto è davvero di alto livello: dalla Lancia Lambda Spider carrozzata Casaro del 1929, di Belometti/Vavassori, fino alla Lancia Beta Montecarlo del 1977 disegnata da Pininfarina, guidata da Malucelli/Bernuzzi.   Accanto ai molti nomi noti del mondo delle competizioni di auto d’epoca, numerosi equipaggi al via per la prima volta in questa gara.
