The @audi e-tron GT concept was definitely a highlight of today. Audi's claiming 582 hp (that 590 figure is metric horsepower), 0-60 mph in 3.5 secs, and a range of over 200 miles. I laughed at this bit in the press release: "One feature that not all the competition can match is the option of fully utilizing the drive's acceleration potential several times in succession." That line seems aimed squarely at Tesla.
A weekend with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 S AMG Coupe changed my mind. The name is absurd both in length and implication -- this is isn't a coupe and it doesn't have a 6.3-liter V8. But it is ridiculously fast, it sounds great, and on close inspection it starts making more sense than a fast car for commuting. It's taller, so you don't have to worry about scraping the nose (big problem in L.A.) and it's easy to climb in and out of. The taller roof gives plenty of headroom, and the hatchback means decent cargo volume. Only problems are a somewhat overzealous stability control system and the tight rear window. Could do without the agro styling, too. #mercedes#benz#amg#mercedesbenz#mercedes_amg#glc#glc63
