Tori and I get “You guys have the best job” a lot, and for good reasons. We get paid to go to awesome locations and photograph people on the happiest day of their lives. But one of the best parts of this job is actually meeting the people that we would have otherwise never had the opportunity to. Take Yvonne and John for example. Our paths most likely would have never crossed. But the stars aligned and we got to meet some of the nicest people out there. They laughed pretty much the entire shoot unless I told them not to. We knew right off the bat that these were our kinda people. So yes, traveling is one of my favorite things in the world, but meeting sincere, friendly people who trust us is right up there with it.
Sitting in the airport during my layover so I figured I’d share another Iceland photo. Camping in a tent and traveling all over the country wasn’t exactly easy, but it was so worth it. Made some good friends and will always remember this trip. Iceland is beautiful, but it’s also relentless. Rained just about every day and night, which meant many tent builds and tear downs in super wet conditions. Sleep was pretty limited, but all the sights invigorated us so it balanced out. This particular photo was down in a Fjord that had an abandoned cargo boat. We basically had the whole place to ourselves and it was AMAZING.
I lugged the humongous Sigma Art 105 1.4 lens to Norway with me. It hung on my side all day (14 hours, longest wedding day for me so far), and I can happily say that it will be replacing my Sigma Art 85 1.4. It’s a dorky lookin lens and it weighs 100 pounds but gawwwwd does it make for some beautiful bokeh. If you’re a photographer and you have arthritis in your hands, I wouldn’t recommend it 😅
Really really really love taking pictures of great people in great locations. Gets me all giddy inside thinking about what’s next. These two are getting married up in Northern California on the Mendocino coast at a gorgeous estate, and to top it all off, they’re both just incredible people.
